Rumors
Sam... that might not be a rumor! Bull sharks are known for perusing far into freshwater estuaries, not always little ones either. On another note, I'm pregnant!

Towing with a small vehicle
Thank you everyone for your insight! After much deliberation, though the tracker ticks off everything but towing capacity, for me it kind of defeats the purpose of having a truck. That being said, I decided instead to look for a chevy Colorado. They have a tow rating of 7,000 lbs, which I feel MUCH better about! Even if the trackers capacity was twice what it is at 3,000 I still wouldn't feel as confident towing close to the max. Ive done some backward things in my day, trying to do it right this time hehe. If I had a thirty grand budget... I'd spend twenty on my truck and ten on the boat, you can find nasty boats for 10gs all day here. I'm working with about 15 all way around but I have utmost confidence I will get what I want, need, and happily be out on the water every chance I get

Towing with a small vehicle
Do the Escapes have a 4x4 trim? One of the main reasons I was attracted to the tracker over similar vehicles was its offroad capabilities. I know Jeeps come prepared but I have not once had a positive experience with one, plus they typically are more expensive. Perhaps I should start looking at other options, or if I do go with the tracker just accept it won't be towing anything.

Towing with a small vehicle
I don't have a boat yet, but I wanted to buy one after I bought a vehicle. My mom has a 14 ft Sea Nymph with a 20 on it and I love it except I'd like a little more space as it's kind of crowded for my dogs. Not too too bad just be more comfortable in a 16.

Towing with a small vehicle
I am in the market for a new vehicle, and I am leaning heavily towards a chevy tracker. It has everything I'm looking for; great mileage, easy to drive, roomy for my big dogs, excellent reliability and above par off-road capabilities. Plus they are cheap (a few grand) even with low miles, and in great condition. Only thing it is lacking is towing capacity, which at a max is rated at 1500 lbs. I do not want to do anything to feel unsafe, or burn up my new to me SUV. I want a 16 ft aluminum hull with about a 30 horse motor, I'm not sure exactly how much all that plus a trailer and loaded down with supplies would weigh but I gather it's close? I have the means to upgrade the truck, it will already be equipped with 4x4 and a 6 cylinder engine but I also planned to install a trans cooler, premium brakes, and a weight distributing hitch. Is this feasible? I don't want to tear up my truck or worse, end up in he water at the ramp! I live in Florida where it is flat but go to Alabama quite a bit where the ramps can be very steep. I am looking for honest opinions, if it's just not right then let me know. Thank you!

Dog > you at panfishing
My pit will catch whitings out of the surf at the beach. She herds them up towards the shore like a dolphin, then when the wave recedes traps em and snags em!

Costa Sunglasses "Green lens vs. Silver mirror?"
No experience with the green lens but I have the copper with the silver mirror for over a year now and I absolutely love them. I live in them; if I'm outside, they're on! As far as quality and clarity on the water Costa is by far the best, just my opinion but I've tried numerous of competitors. You might be in the $300 range but they are well worth it. I will personally never buy another brand.

Female Dog Name - Fishing Related
Mine are Odyssey and Calypso. But lately I have thought Furuno would be a sweet name, especially for a husky.

Havent Been Around In Awhile. Sad News.
As a stranger I wholeheartedly offer my sympathies. It's not exactly the same situation but I lost my dad almost 3 years ago this month and I understand the overwhelming amount of pain it brings. It always hurts but you make it through <3 My thought is that what made him most upset was seeing me upset, so I remember that and keep myself together for him. I'm sure your son would want the same. Hugs

Bourbon (And All Things Whiskey. Or Whisky, If You Like Scotch)
Agreed; if you want something that doesn't taste like whiskey maybe drink something else. Like Malibu. I have tried the Bulleit and Booker's, I don't recall them being bad (but lets be real, its bourbon) but I didn't buy another bottle. I forgot to mention earlier I am also a fan of the Irish whiskey, its a different effect. Figure they've been doing it the longest they might have an idea haha. I prefer Bushmills Black.

Bourbon (And All Things Whiskey. Or Whisky, If You Like Scotch)
Oh my goodness, I FOUND MY HOME. I make it a point to try the different whiskey varieties I discover at the local liquor stores. I have found Jeffersons Reserve to also, be not so great. In fact I rarely (never) use the word "awful" to describe bourbon but I am tempted to in that case. My usual go to is good ol' JD but I have made it my own tradition to buy a handle of Willett's Reserve for Thanksgiving, if you have not tried I highly recommend it. Very recently bought a cheap bottle of Evan Williams. Honestly not bad. I also enjoy spiced whiskey, Jeremiah Weed makes a few different types. I am in no way shape or form a fan of flavored whiskeys... the Crown maple and apple tastes like syrup. If I wanted candy I'd buy that instead of booze.

Aquarium Thread
I have had many different kinds of tanks over the years and currently just have a 2 gallon Fluval with a betta in it. I have had saltwater and they are exotic, but there is just something so beautiful and entrancing about the greenery of a planted freshwater. I also have snails and shrimp in there. Sometime I'd like to get a 30 or 40 long and have a school of "something" in it. Watching fish shoal is so neat!

Fl Guys - How Do You Avoid Being Gators Lunch?
Ditto to everything davecon has said. I've lived here my entire 26 years of existence and only the Yanks are scared of 'em . Go on a canoe float down the Peace River and you will see all the good ol' boys chest deep partying in black, gator water. I've done it once or twice myself. Really the only ones that ever pose a threat are mama's or ones that are used to being fed, otherwise they are looking for an easy snack.. we are another, very comparable sized predator.

Worst Bass Fisher Ever.
Well then! I will gladly take all the red drum you don't want off your hands! I'm assuming by "smallies' you are referring to the ever elusive "smallmouth bass". I say elusive because they simply just don't appreciate these sub-tropical parts I call home. Harumph!

Newest Addition
Life just isn't right without a dog. Congratulations on your pup, I have a 6 month old and she is just a hoot! Also a 7 yo (both are pits) and I couldn't imagine life without them.

Worst Bass Fisher Ever.
Thank you so very kindly everyone for the warm welcomes! As for my quarry it is a southern sting ray, 35 lbs shot with my handy dandy compound bow! If you've never tried bow fishing, I HIGHLY recommend it... there is something instantly gratifying about shooting a fish.

Don't Hoist A Lunker
Currently a virgin bass fisher (well, I've fished FOR them... just haven't caught any) but any fish of decent edible size I'm usually gaffing, lost one slot size snook trying to pick him up by the line on the wall of a bridge. Sucker sat right there next to the wall teasing me. Never again! I bought a gaff that night! They're usually in the 15-20 lbs range for a keeper.
