  1. its amazing what happens when you have a boat lol
  2. The sports authorities in my area have been going out of business..I wonder if Dicks is trying to revive them?
  3. nice fish man
  4. Just pray he doesn't discover your honey hole, or the hordes of Utah "outdoorsman" with sleeveless shirts and hooks in their hats will relentlessly pursue filling their buckets with dinner and driving off in their smoke-spewing late 90s model Dodge diesels!
  5. This is a pretty aggressive first few posts, who are you guys? Are you affiliated with DNR or in contact with them in any way? I searched for your article online, but cant find it anywhere. Are you writing that, or is it sourced from somewhere else? Looking for volunteers for a specific project? or just trying to grab peoples attention? I'm thoroughly disappointed with this state's management. We participated in their surveys, and a majority of people in the surveys clearly stated that they were not Tiger Muskie anglers. But what does Utah do with their limited funds? They build a Tiger Muskie hatchery...disappointing. The next thing they'll most likely focus on is the Wiper fishery. My conclusion: I am not a professional manager, but I am disappointed in the overall direction the state is headed in warmwater species management for selfish reasons.
  6. Dad was a self proclaimed pan fishermen. The earliest lure I ever remember using was a cubby mini mite tipped with a waxie under a bobber.
  7. This ^ At some point in my life, I will be able to pick and choose when I go fishing. At this point, I go when I can, and deal with whatever elements happen to occur at the time.
  8. 1/2 oz. black/grey football jig with PB&J twin tail grub trailer. Ripped it out of a deep weedline and the big girl was sitting right outside of it waiting.
  9. I love ice fishing but I would trade for year round bass fishing in an instant!
  10. Im not as good as some of the other guys on here, but I would ditch the jig and fish the same trailer (cut down like you mentioned) on the smallest swing jig. No weed guard, no skirt, overall smaller profile.
  11. Haha good places for sure. Wilmington college girls love military guys...
  12. Where did you guys order your bunk carpet? I have one that's going bad but only need a small amount...
  13. I used to live near logan. Pretty good bass fishing up in that area, compared to Layton.
  14. And just to add on to what spankey said, you can suspend a craw imitation, or even a tube, right over that rip rap and fish it much slower than a crankbait. I rig my dropshot craws on an EWG hook.
  15. Hahah gotta love feisty little crappie. I was fishing out of a canoe with my buddy, and he dropped his rod and reel overboard. We were trying to dredge the rod up with big heavily weighted plain hooks. I felt my rod tip start going nuts, so I reeled up and wouldn't you know it a crappie decided he was going to eat my bare red 3/0 hook hahaha.
  16. Im so jealous, everything here is covered in 6 inches of ice. I used to live near Goldsboro, do you ever fish in that area?
  17. welcome to the board. I hope you enjoy learning!
  18. Would like to hear your opinion on sensitivity of that rod geek blank once you get a chance to fish it
  19. Why I am a better armchair angler than you. I have a two year old. My wife works. Local fisheries are poorly managed for bass, and are highly pressured. Better fisheries are 1.5-6 hours away, requiring a full day commitment. Im easily distracted, and spend a lot of fishing time pursuing other species/methods. I have unlimited access to the internet and spend hours reading forum posts and fishing articles. Anyone want some unqualified advice?
  20. I use whatever is laying around. That being said, I have found that I really like using fly line backing. Its very cheap, strong, and brightly colored. If I burn through the line, I can see chartreuse colored backing start to show under my fluoro. Its kind of a reminder that my line is starting to get a little low.
  21. I went from a float tube, to a motorized canoe, to an aluminum fishing boat. I think the biggest difference between a kayak and an aluminum bass boat (besides all of the previously mentioned issues) is the maintenance factors which you encounter with the boat. With the boat setup, you have to maintain the trailer, batteries, motor, pumps, boat body. Ive never owned a fiberglass, so my maintenance is relatively minor compared. But once in a while, when I find myself spending time and money on maintenance and repairs, I miss the ease of the plastic/inflatable alternative.

Do you guys ever use these punch skirts for anything other than punching applications?
  23. Its interesting to see how people from different areas will fish a lure differently. Ive seen a lot of people mentioning clear water bright day applications for chrome lures. In this situation, I normally turn to a finesse approach with more realistic, imitative finishes being the emphasis. Im going to experiment this year with a chrome LV-500 on clear sunny days when im trying to cover water.
  24. If you watch the boards, you can find a used Dobyns champions or St Croix Avid/LTB for under 200$. So many options at that price point, but I have had good luck buying used high end rods on this site and another.
