  1. I used the harold ensley signature last year as my first casting setup, it worked really well, and I caught a lot of fish off jigs with it. Now I have 5 "new and improved" setups that I do like better
  2. Was looking on sieberts website, and saw the brown craw jig color, does anyone have any experience with this color, if so how did you like it?
  3. Thanks for the info guys, smalljaw do you have a picture of that jig you are talking about? Yeajray, ky is nice!

So in order to make things simpler I am thinking of using strictly brown jigs 90% of the time, and then depending on conditions alter and adjust my trailer from black, green pumpkin, blue and brown. Do you think this would work? I will throw a black jig if the water is really dirty but was wondering about the other times? I am thinking of getting a custom made brown jig of 90% brown, then 5% black and 5% green, do you think this would be good too? Thanks!
  5. If you are going for bigger bass that are deeper, I would highly recommend throwing a jig.
  6. Not to go and buy a bunch of baits. I did and then didnt use half of them.
  7. If I were you I would get one with a wider deck, preferably something 42" or more. A 36" deck will not be very stable.
  8. I picked up a 7'2 mh/xf Fenwick Aetos when they were on sale for $95, I use it as one of my jig rods. It is great, you can easily tell all the bottom structure, and it has a great backbone. Check them out! Jig
  9. The All Terrain Tackle skip n jig is what I use.
  10. I like the netbait paca chunk, bbug and kickin b. Plus they are pretty cheap so it doesn't hurt the wallet "as much".
  11. I had a topic about this the other day. Castaway Rods has mh/mod-fast rods for most of their lineup, they don't have but one fast/xf action rods. So I guess you can use your rod for jigs, spinnerbaits, t-rigs etc. Except I have always preferred a fast or xf action for those, to ensure solid hooksets.
  12. So I was looking at rods and the Castaway Taranis popped up, and they had mod-fast and moderate action rods for jigs and frogs. I always thought that you wanted a fast or xf action for those type rods? I have really only been fishing a year now so I didn't really know. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  13. So I am going to be getting my first type of watercraft later in the year, however I don't know if I should go with a jon boat or a kayak. I will be fishing smaller reservoirs or lakes ranging from about 6 acres to 126. However mostt of them are 6-35 acres, with a couple in the 70's or 80's and a couple in the 120's. If I got a kayak I could/might end up putting a trolling motor on it to help me out. The jon boat would have a 10-20 outboard. Which one would be best for my situation? Btw towing is not a problem for either. Thanks! update: actually after reviewing, 95% of the lakes I fish will be 1-45 acres, if that makes a difference.
  14. So I have been expeimenting with JJ's chartreuse and like how it produces. My question is about the other colors. What color or colors does everyone use? Also what does the clear do? And finally what color does pink or orange turn a grn pumpkin or junebug soft plastic to?I know that is a lot of questions but I'm hoping it will improve my catching percentage. Thanks!
  15. Either a black and blue or junebug jig, with a green pumpkin paca chunk or bbug as a trailer.

I only use netbait and the berkley havoc line nowadays. But 95% of the time it is Netbait.
  17. Hi all, I know a lot of people on the forum like siebert outdoor's jigs, and I would love to try them soon so that is why I am asking this. Has anyone used his spinnerbaits and shakey heads? if so how did you like them and would you recommend them? Thanks!
  18. East side should have more shade in the morning because the sun rises in the east.
  19. Knowledge. Knowing where to fish at different parts of the year, at different depths. Which lures and how to present those lures like fast or slow, hopping vs dragging. Also being able to maximize time on the water, eliminating unproductive water and only fishing where you know they are.
  20. For squarebills I use a kvd 1.5 in either black back chartreuse or pb&j craw.
  21. A jig with your preferable trailer, can mimic most anything and can downsize if need be.
  22. I don't know Cabelas but TW usually has a 15% off sale for labor day.
  23. If you are looking for something cheaper, I have seen some good reviews on the SJcam for its price point.
  24. Because the tag says $200 budget im assuming you are looking at $100 for a rod, and $100 for the reel. I would get a fenwick aetos because they are on sale for $95 right now, and either a lews speed spool or daiwa tatula ct. Both can be had on ebay for $100 or less.
