  1. Fuego Ct is another great option if you want to save a few more dollars. In my opinion, that's all you'd need.
  2. I only have two other medium casting rods, a Daiwa Cronos and a BPS Carbonlite 2.0 and I would say the power is similiar. I would probably go for the MH with what you want to throw there.
  3. If you go the traveling route, I'd highly suggest an Ardito as well. I have (2), both M and MH 7'0" casting rods ( I can carry both in the same case!). Look around you can find them for well under msrp. Fantastic rods indeed.
  4. I completely agree. Love to see how different manufacturers and platforms are put together. I really enjoy it. First thing I do when I get a new reel.
  5. Welcome! There's some fine folks in these here threads.
  6. It shares the same spool size as the steez ct sv.
  7. Ah, good to know thanks!
  8. I believe its setup as more of a pitching/flipping reel if I'm not mistaken which means it will be a lot faster and could be more wild in regular casting if not in the "thumb" of a more experienced caster.
  9. I completely agree. I have a tatula Type R, a coastal TWS with a HD custom 153 spool, a tatula SV and a tatula ct type r 50th anniversary (for sale in the flea market). All are absolutely great options for anything you want to throw for a fraction of that $300.
  10. The first 3 techniques I'd look for an OG zillion or SV 103. Solid workhorse reels and with the zillions, you could find something better than the vanilla version for under $300. For an all around caster, a Tatula SV would be a great choice. If you're not against used, they're going on most forums for around $130 in great shape.
  11. Awesome man. Appreciate it! Got some parts on order, spool will be coming next.
  12. I have both (in the same tube). Both excellent rods. Shop around, I was able to purchase each for under $100 brand new. I find myself assembling the MH more often than not, but I'm not much of a light tackle fisherman. I would suggest what MN Fisher said above. Quality rods for the money and versatility. Whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed.
  13. Looks great! How does the hh sky blue match up with the ZPI light blue? I'm thinking of going with the same combo for my first and newly acquired SV 103.
  14. Changing all the bearings? To corrosion resistant? Just curious what you're trying to accomplish? If anything I would save some moolah and just put (2) 4x7x2.5 on the level wind and possibly your bearings of choice on either side of the spool. Also handle knob bearings are the same dimensions listed.
  15. Check out tackle trap. They used to have tatula handle assemblies for 20 bucks but they're not listed anymore. I'd give them a call and see if they can help you out. Great guys to deal with. They have other options as well. https://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=898_660_654
  16. Received my Tatula SV yesterday and couldn't find a better way to break her in!
  17. Best walker I've used is the Bagleys Knocker B in in the 4.25" size. Perfect weight, great hardware, and a great sound. Open the package and throw it a mile!
  18. I've been using J braid x8 in 50 and 65lb the last 2 seasons for froggin and have no problems at all.
  19. You guys are giving me hope... just picked up my first left handed baitcaster today. I normally cast with my right, switch hands, and reel with my right. Just playing around with it at work for the last few hours, I think I'll get used to it pretty quickly. The reel will be mainly for pitching and some frog use, so it makes sense.
  20. Good looking out!
  21. Cut a plastic shim and place underneath the drive shaft inside the felt washer. I've done this to several types of different reels when the play was just a bit too much and it bothered me. Are you sure when you're shaking the reel, youre not hearing the line guide move? Some reels have a different amount of play in that part, some more that others. Try holding it with a finger while shaking and see if that helps. I've never had a reel where I've shook it and audibly heard the drive shaft move in and out, only ones where I had to push or pull it to feel the play.
  22. I went back to grab some more yesterday and there was ONE LEFT!!! and it was only there because it had some grease on it. There had to have been at least 40 the day before. Someone's got the same idea...
  23. For those of you looking for plastic storage like I am, wally world is selling these 7qt totes for $1.96 a pop. It's like they were made with that in mind! You can fit 30-40 bags in each one.
  24. The spool that you will get in the Coastal 200 has a fixed inductor which means that the same braking force will be applied during the entire cast. A magforce Z spool has an inductor that extends after the spool starts up and applies a bit more breaking through the middle of the cast. Can be useful for throwing bigger baits. Don't worry, your stock spool will be fine!
