  1. I've got a big box of Jitterbugs and still use them at dusk on hot summer nights. Classic bait for sure that younger fisherman should learn to use.
  2. BPS has this reel at a decent price so I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this. Anyone have experience with this model? The reviews seem to be mostly positive but I'd like some comments from folks that actually own this reel. Also any line recommendations you might have? Will be primarily used as a pond bassin reel using crankbaits, plastics, spinnerbaits.

This is why I fish. ^^^^^^
  4. Welcome John from a fellow Buckeye! This is a pretty special place and if you'll spend some time browsing the huge library of articles found here you will find yourself educated!
  5. Not me. Programming code was an area that I never got interested in. I think Python has been around since the early 90's which is pretty amazing when you think about it. Good luck in your classes!
  6. I hear ya. For a Windows OS XP is da bomb. Seven was pretty good too. Windows 10 seems to be a robust system so far,but I haven't really done much with it yet after installing it a couple months ago. I think I'm learning to do just about anything I need with my iPad. Not saying it's a replacement for a pc but getting close.
  7. I have no interest in the game this year. However, the Mrs.is a huge Manning fan and since she's cookin up the big feast I'm all in with the Broncos. Denver 24 Carolina 19.
  8. You. Are. Killing. Me!!!
  9. Now that sounds like what I'm after! Not much I love more than Italian sausage with peppers & onions. Specially since after having heart by pass surgery my wife says I can't have that stuff any longer. Which is why I've gotten so creative and getting it?

Less than 30,of which I routinely use 5 or 6 in white or some variation of chartreuse. After this many years I have it narrowed down to what actually does catch fish for me. The "rest"are in boxes someplace.
  11. Where I work we use the coyote and a few other things. We also got permission to take more drastic measures, such as shaking the eggs. That method works the best of all. They are filthy, mean, and loud. And they taste good barbecued!!
  12. I'd have to go with Yum for their ribbon tail worms, money minnows, and craws.
  13. First question: how many of you make your own worm molds, and what do you make them out of? I'll admit I forgot to do a search here to see if this has been covered a number of times so if it has can you post a link? Second question: is it ok to make a mold from a worm that hasn't been in production for a number of years? These would be for personal use,not for sale. I have a few packages of a favorite worm from days gone by that I want to make more of before I run out. Thanks!
  14. No need to be jealous! Believe me when I tell you this has been a long time coming and something we have planned for. The biggest reason for the move is my wife's health, which her dr's have all said will improve greatly with this move. The fact that there might be a little extra fishing in it for me, well let's just say it has crossed my mind a few times:)
  15. Mike, that is a very generous offer to help out with some information. Please expect a PM soon! Great to hear that there are so many places to fish. Met a guy at the Bass Pro shop last summer who told me to focus on snook. The way you describe it sounds awesome and I look forward to learning how to catch them. Thanks for the great reply!
  16. Thank you! We've been vacationing in the Bonita Springs area for the past twenty years so the Gulf coast feels like home to us. My wife's health is so much better there with no asthma or migraine issues like she suffers with here. We are so excited now that we can see it in our sights.
  17. In 13 months I'll be retiring and a few months after that moving to Florida. We have narrowed our destination to either the North Port or Punta Gorda areas. Besides golf course ponds are there any small lakes in those areas that you have fished that hold good populations of bass? What about rivers in those areas?
  18. Not hardly. Not someone I'd give a second look at. Art,maybe, but that's about it. Must be where "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"comes into play,eh?
  19. NE better make some O line adjustments during halftime or its lights out. Brady throwing short more than normal and doesn't look like he's settled into his rhythm thanks to a strong Bronco defense. Second half gonna be a good one.
  20. Refreshing to hear a kid that has his priorities in order at this point in his life. Wish him all the best going forward.
  21. I grew up using soft craws I caught out of the river, either using a seine or grabbing them with my hands.Back then no one ever heard of the science related to the various moon phases, but I can tell you that when we knew the next full moon was coming we were going to get soft craws. Later I saw this same pattern in small lakes that had an abundance of crayfish. City folks would gladly pay good money for our bait, but to me it was just plain fun going after them. Sure miss those days...
  22. Yum craw in PB&J Texas rigged or if I'm fishing snags or a lot of rocks I'll go with a weedless jig head with a plastic craw attached. My second choice is a 1/8 or 3/16 oz. white spinnerbait.
  23. I think I do better throwing a crankbait with an orange belly vs.just about any other color. I don't know if the color really makes the difference or if it's because I've convinced myself it does, which makes me throw it more than any others.
  24. Man I'd go berserk with that many calls. My do not call thingy works like a charm. Course I've also got an unlisted number so that helps some too. We've gotten several of the robo calls which are just phishing for a real person. Funny thing is,shortly after the robo calls we start getting the phony IRS calls. Low life scum that are too lazy to get off their backsides to get a real job but would rather steal from the elderly. Ain't it interesting though how just the mention of the IRS makes otherwise intelligent and sensible people suddenly become so scared they will give perfect strangers the keys to the kingdom?
  25. Long time former fan of Charlie Hustle here that saw him many times in his prime during the Big Red Machine days. As much as I loved his playing style and enthusiasm for the game I just can't overlook the many bad decisions he made as a player/manager,especially associating with known book makers. IMO,Pete believed he was above the rules and lived his baseball life accordingly. He clearly violated the single most important rule in all of baseball: Rule 21,which is about as straightforward as any rule could be. The rule says: "Any player, umpire, or club or league official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform shall be declared permanantly ineligible." No part of the rule makes a distinction as to which games you bet on,it's all inclusive. As much as I admired him as a player at one time I really could care less about his relationship with baseball these days. I haven't attended or even watched a game since the last strike, whenever that was. Drugs, greed, all of it turned me completely against the game. I do believe Pete was one of the all time greats of the game, unfortunately by his own actions he disqualified himself from the games highest honor. No amount of wishful thinking can ever change that.
