  1. If your in Florida, please come release him into my lake. It would be nice to have some 6 inch 1 pounders in there.☺
  2. Nice !
  3. Ours is treated often because it's so shallow and weeds/algae would completely take over if we didn't. Frogs are good in thick vegetation, but not so much in algae.Theres not much else to do except fish any open pockets, or try punching.
  4. I've had a good spring for bass between 5-7 pounds. That kind of got squelched when I lost what could have been a new PB a couple weeks ago. Losing that fish took the starch out of me. I haven't been out in the boat fishing since then yet. Point is, it happens to the best of us at times. That's what makes it so much fun when you break the slump. And the hard times is when you grow and adapt. Be sure to share the pics when you break through!
  5. We have a pest control company here that has the long - standing motto " We kill everything that crawls except babies" Kind of makes you wonder what they were into before they did pest control ?
  6. Glad every thing came out smoothly !??
  7. Havin' some fun today. Created a fun kind of obstacle course for my G. Daughter. The events involved running, swimming , climbing fishing, kayaking etc. When she finished, my grandson joined us and we went swimming. After that, she wanted to bream fish, and while reeling one in, a bass ate the bream and broke the line. She got my live bait rod, caught another bream , hooked it on, and we watched 2 bass come by and start checking the bream out. The bigger one ate the bream and took off. After counting to 10 she began tightening up and at just the right moment, started reeling ( circle hook ) After a nice fight , with a full jump, she landed the fish. The fish weighed 4 pounds 1 oz. It was her PB largemouth. She also revived the fish and we watched it swim off. Good times !!
  8. I killed all kinds of things when I was young and turned out ok. I have learned since then that God's creatures have a purpose. That purpose may be for me to eat them. Certain bugs ( like roaches ) will all die.Rats will die. Cottonmouths will die if they come on my property. I have lightened up a lot, especially with non poisonous snakes. They keep the rat population down ! I personally wouldnt berate a kid that wasn't my own for killing a snake , but to each his own.
  9. I fish senkos weigtless. Deadly !!
  10. You basically just described how I fish...most of the time.
  11. My rule of thumb is the bigger the bait the bigger hook you can use, and vice. versa. Too big of a hook or too heavy and it will mess up the natural action of the bait fish.I try to use as small a hook as I can get away with for that reason.I caught a 5 3/4 pound bass the other day on a 3 inch 'gill using a small # 2 circle hook. With a circle hook, you allow them to tighten up the slack, then do a slow, steady pull to set the hook ( not a quick , violent set ) On a big shiner I might go up to a 3-4 /0 bait holder or wide gap hook. I hook the bream or shiners through both lips, from bottom to top. I also only use bronze hooks. No gold or silver ! I catch more fish with no cork either, but sometimes you need one to keep it out of the grass. I don't know anyone except me that does this, but you can fish small live bream almost like fishing a plastic bait. Throw em out and reel a few turns violently, let it sink, wait a little, and do it again. Deadly ! And live bream are legal in Fl., as long as you catch them on hook and line.
  12. Looks lean but not undernourished.
  13. Thanks. Yeah, it was around 20 mph yesterday. Didn't go out in the boat.
  14. Dang. Think I'll start making custom flyrods.
  15. I forgot the plug a couple times, and did a Bill dance imitation with the trolling motor coming off the transom when I had it on full speed. I danced ( literally ) with it for what seemed like a long time and finally got it under control. Another time me and a friend went fishing several miles downstream from our camp spot on the Ocklawaha river. When we went to start back , the motor wouldn't crank. We ended up paddling against the current for several hours to finally get back to the camp at midnight or so. Also have broke down on the west side of Lake George ( 2nd biggest lake in Fl. ) and we had to troll back to the camp on the east side . It seemed like we were running in place with the big swells out there. Another time my Jon boat sank when I had a rather large friend with me one day. We were only a few hundred pounds over the coast guard safety rating !! The security guard there asked us to leave as the boat sank right as we made it to shore!
  16. 350.00 seems kind of expensive to me but what do I know?
  17. I've had a few setbacks this week fishing . I lost a huge bass the other night ( don't want to share what happened yet ). So Today I cast my new favorite spinnerbait, had it literally inches from pulling it out of the water and a big fish came up and swallowd it , and it surprised me so much I didn't respond properly and ended up breaking the line. NOOO ! SO I quickly caught a little bream, and hooked it on in an attempt to catch the bass and recover the spinnerbait, and ended up with this 5 pound 11 oz fish but no spinnerbait. The fish was another 23 incher.
  18. Can't help you much with hair issues ! I have less and less experience with that everyday ! About the only time I don't wear a hat is at church. If I don't, I get a sunburnt head. One of my son's nicknames for me for awhile was " Balto " if that tells you anything.
  19. I do best with them with what we call wigglers . They are our common earthworms here. A big one is 3-4 inch. I hook em twice and use a #6 bronze light wire hook with a small split shot about 6 inches up. Believe it or not, I caught my biggest one ( 11.5 inches long , and 11 inch girth ) on a mashed bread ball on a bed the fish was on.
  20. Welcome to the forums. My wife's from Richmond, and I have some NC roots . Can't help you much with the fishing there though. @Sam should be along soon. If I was in Richmond Id look him up. Tight lines !
  21. BIG TIME! We just had our spring game sat. and 53000 + showed up.
  22. Got that right!
