  1. Exactly. And I've caught about the same on green pumpkin. Watermelon is my favorite.
  2. I fish mostly shallow, fairly clear lakes. If fishing soft plastics like usual, a light purple ( like tequila ) seems to be best first thing in the morning.Maybe an hour or so after sunrise,I switch to watermelon if cloudy or watermelon red if sunny.I use these colors all day until about 1/2 hour before dark when I switch to June bug, black grape or black. This is based on many years of trial and error. For example,Ive used watermelon right up to dark and nearly every time they will not bite it anymore when the sun gets low.So I switch to the darker colors and they start biting again. And I do catch fish outside of this color wheel but I generally go with what keeps producing.I usually would rather keep catching fish than experiment. I wouldn't argue that fish sometimes eat the bait based on matching what color creature they're eating naturally. But the bait matching the creature. Not always. How can anyone explain why a bass would eat a colored stick bait or even a fluke? I mean, what do they really look like in nature? I think colors are important to at least allow the fish to see whatever you're throwing, but why they eat certain baits that don't look like anything they're used to seeing is hard to understand.
  3. A lot if it is how you think. The lake I live on is full of bass but you would never think it was. There is rarely any surface action or other sign of bass activity. Most people fish it once, dont catch anything, and dont fish it anymore.( Which is good for me ) I have another pond I KNOW that has DD fish.I usually catch nothing there. It is a very strange place to fish, and it is stocked and managed by Florida FWC.They wont even bite live shiners very good there. But I know theyre there.... In your case Id try senkos or flukes. Also fish very slow .When I dont catch fish with these baits Im usually fishing too fast.
  4. Ha.I went fishing and came home at dark.Missed most of the first Qtr.C leaned fish at halftime.?
  5. Too many political statements for me.I did laugh when the eco lady hit the boat.I have no idea what they were selling. Missed the half time show, cleaning fish.On purpose.Draw your own conclusions.
  6. I am not a fan of either team although Ive been a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan.If I am nuetral I usually root for the closer team to me,which would have been Atlanta.I just didnt want to jump on their bandwagon having not followed them at all during the season.I wouldnt say Im a patriots fan but you have to admit Brady is great. Not the best game but the most exciting 4th qtr. Ive seen. I didnt like the political insinuations of some of the commercials or I didnt get the humor or point behind some of the others lol.I did laugh when the eco lady got flipped by the whale and hit the boat.

  8. With me,the cat will arrive within 10 seconds of hearing it.Loves to get her head scratched.
  9. Yamamoto senkos,Zoom super flukes, zoom trick worms. All t- rigged in watermelon colors, and june bug for low light fishing. Close runner up 3 are pit bosses, zoom baby brush hogs, and super speed craws.I have at least 10 more baits I carry with a variety of colors. I also have a hard bait box .I fool around with them and occasionally catch a few.
  10. I have the 9.5 bass hunter and a 12 foot jon boat. And love both.T o me,the hunter is more comfortable.I have the factory chairs but they support me well ( at 260 pounds )It is also cooler because youre up a little higher and it allows better air flow under the seat.Ive learned to just swivel around if you need something behind you.You can even fish facing sideways and still reach the trolling motor which I have on front. The hunter s very stable for being so small. The jon boat would be better for bigger water and you could put a bigger motor on it.It has more room but not much more. You could customize it to allow more room.I have fished many times in my jon with one other person and its fine.3 would be cramped on either boat, but a small child would work for a while with 2 adults .Esp. on the jon.I f possible, try sitting in both before you buy to see how much room youd have. I also have a 2 seater kayak that Im not overly crazy about.
  11. I was bream fishing with my friends teenage son at a dock down the lake in my jon boat.We had caught and kept a few.The owner of the property came out and asked me in a direct way to leave because his grandaughters fished there.I was conflicted.I had fished the lake for 40 years, and live on it.If anyone had the right to fish there I did.I had told my friends son we would only keep 10 and then leave so to not overfish it.I had not come in contact with his dock.S o I was completely within the law to fish there. If I had been by myself there would have been at least a serious discussion. But with David in the boat I felt that to do as asked would be the better example.I was angry to the point that I knew if I said a word it would not be in a friendly tone.I did not say a word, pulled up anchor and began leaving. He was trying to get a response by continuing to explain why I should leave.I thought to my self if he wanted to fish at my dock It wouldnt bother me even though I had grandkids that fish there.W hat Im sure he didnt realize was that the lake was full of nice bream and keeping a few wouldnt slightly put a dent in the population. I dont have any use for people like that. But Holding a grudge doesntt help so I let it go. Saw him while voting and made eye contact.I gave him a nod but he ignored it and walked on. So if you can ,let stuff go.At least youll be at peace with it.By the way,my response this time wouldnt have been my response 25 years ago!!?
  12. I chewed redman, levi, and beechnut from 18-25. About a pouch per day.Didnt care for " the pinch between cheek and gum" Tried white mule and it kicked my butt.Went fishing with a friend and my spit cup bottom fell out in my lap.Looked like Id had a accidental bowel movement all day. I eventually quit cold turkey and had one last chew a few months later and that was it. You can quit anytime you want if you make up your mind to. As for preaching,if you care about someone youll preach to them ! Maybe we should start an overeating thread .Then someone could preach to me about that!!?
  13. I cook if I get hungry enough. I catch ,grow ,or shoot it ,then clean it.I let someone else cook it and I eat it.I figure 3 out of 4 aint bad.!
  14. There was one pond I used to fish where they were fairly easy to catch with bread balls.I would chum them with bread for awhile and they'd come around.T hey would not bite it with a big hook, so I'd only use a small, but strong one.Biggest I caught there was around 32 inches. We stocked them a few years ago in my lake. For some reason, these carp dont seem to have any interest in bread. So I snagged one with a treble hook, weighed and released it. 23 pounds.
  15. mine is actually 9.5 feet long. Great little boat for small water bodies
  16. It may be lower than the raider but I have no problem with it. It is very buoyant even with all the weight in the front. It sits higher than my jon boat! It isnt best for a big water body though, although I was going directly into 15-20 mph winds with no problem. It handles waves better than you would think
  17. This^^ Just got a lump in my throat thinking about him.H ere he is with my brother.
  18. I have an 8 foot hunter and love it.Not sure what you mean by shallower but very little water comes into mine. Its perfect when Im by myself or with my 11 year old G- daughter.I suspect it would be small for 2 men my size ,although its rated for 470 pounds. Its very stable and goes suprisingly fast with my 40 pt trolling motor. Got the motor on the front and my hunter has the wiring for it so Im fixing to get some terminals for the front so I can have the battry in back to displace the weight.
  19. Share your best from 2016-17. We did this last year.Tell us where you were. Heres mine. This is my home lake n the jax. Fl area.taken a couple weeks ago at sunrise.
  20. let me know how you do.Id love to fish them again someday.
  21. Do you have a boat? If not you will be very limited in what you can do. Wuaberg is easier for bank fishing. There is a park off 441 after micanopy ( coming from Orange lake) that did have some good bank access. If you continue on 441 you will come to the college( UF ) side of the lake where there is also bank access and boats and kayaks to rent.I dont know how the access for non college folks are though.I mainly fished wauberg with manns jelly worms. There were some giant bass that would bed on the college side in the spring. The speck fishing was excellent there in the pads.I havent fished there now for years so it may have changed. As for orange, we fished big black worms.Producto tournament worms and Manns.Rattletraps work well too,and most of the big bass were caught with shiners.Find a bait store and hang out.Someone at cross creek would know Im sure!
  22. There is one lake I fish in the O . Nat. Forest ( the old timers call it the Scrub ) that is very clear and I fish it with 10 pound mono, flukes, and culprit worms.Watermelon colors with the fluke and red shad, motor oil ,or tequila sunrise on the culprits. The fish there are not hard to catch.Of course, the less hardware the better. The flukes are heavy enough to allow no weight and I only use a small split shot or bullet weight with the culprit. That lake is also full of butter cats. I run a trot line and its all you can eat !!
  23. No,although Ive fished Orange. Orange has dark water. I guess you could say somewhat muddy. It used to be a great lake.It got real fished out in the 80s but I heard its making a comeback.I finished 2nd in a tournament fishing Lochloosa.Back then, it was fairly clear of weeds compared to Orange, which was almost completely covered with hydrilla. In its hey day,Id give the edge to Orange but Lochloosa was so picturesque with all those cypress trees. The green lakes I was referring to are Newnans and Wauberg. I actually did better fishing Wauberg especially for specks and its not nearly as big or well known as Newnans .Both have some HUGE gators.
