  1. Wait out a sale. I picked up 2 brand new NRX'S for under $700. For the record I would have never paid the $575 the rod retails for. Not saying it's not worth that, that's just me I'm a bargain hunter.
  2. Here's my thoughts on the NRX. I was expecting it to be way better than ANY fishing rod I had ever picked up. At first I wasn't blown away by it but the more I fish it the more subtleties I notice about it. It's that much lighter than rod A, it's that much more sensitive than rod B. It's more enjoyable to fish than rod C. Once you fish one of these rods and then fish less expensive rods it's easy to understand how people can end up with boat full of NRX'S. That's my take.
  3. Good company to work with. My order had an error message so I followed up with customer support to get it taken care of. They offered me free shipping as a result of my inconvenience
  4. Unfortunately where the break is it isn't likely going to be a manufacturer defect. I'd go with Options 2 or 3.
  5. Stop posting such great deals. I'm the proud owner of more senkos, hula grubs and shad shaped worms.
  6. Bring your Keitech Fat impacts they will catch big smallies.
  7. I have a weakness for good deals. Someone please buy before I do. Thanks http://m.ebay.com/itm/112055580884
  8. Those are quality fish. If they want it wacky rigged give it to them wacky rigged. If you come out and fish in April or October I guarantee wacky rig won't be what they want. I live in Michigan so our weather is comparable
  9. I got to share my passion with my daughter who turned 6 yesterday. For her birthday she wanted to fish with dad. We've tried a handful of times from shore without any luck. Yesterday was special. She really enjoyed catching two fish.
  10. Your comparison is a $550 rod versus a $300. Let's be honest for the cost both rods are gonna be awesome. Is the NRX gonna be $250 better than the Orochi? Not likely. However, the NRX does offer peace of mind with their warranty. If money is no object I'd go with the NRX. I do own two NRX872S. I picked both up during sales. No way would I have paid full price, that's just me. They are sweet rods. I hear great things about Orochi rods too. I think you'd be happy with that too.
  11. Personally preference I guess. Alot of people like a 6'10" ML for drop shotting. I prefer a 7'3" M.
  12. This rod: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FPQU3U6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468807099&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=daiwa+tatula+rods&dpPl=1&dpID=21HVz-3YemL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1 Or a Dobyns Fury
  13. A guy in my bass club did well throwing flukes under docks last tournament.
  14. I noticed yesterday when I was looking at braided line on TW there were several new releases coming out at the end of this month for pre-order. Sunline had two- BX2 and TX1, Suffix had 1, Yozuri had 1. Anybody have any Intel on the new braided lines coming out? I'm curious about the Sunline TX1. They likely addressed the noise concern others had with SX1.
  15. For the cost I would just go with the Daiwa 100 which can be had for $94 or less on Ebay.
  16. http://m.ebay.com/itm/SHIMANO-EXPRIDE-FROG-EX172H-FR-72-HEAVY-CASTING-ROD-/311568280560?nav=SEARCH This rod and a Daiwa Tatula CT reel. I just put this set up together yesterday and it's awesome.
  17. Welcome to the forum. Keep reading and you'll learn a ton. The only bad news is the forum will cost you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in the latest lures, and rods and reels that are on sale. Best of luck.
  18. I just picked up a Shimano Expride 7'2" Heavy frog rod. It's an awesome rod nice and light with a fast tip. I was thinking about using this for a top water rod (like Gunfish and Sammy) would this application be okay?
  19. Amen brother. I could drop a tube or a senko right on the edge of the lilly pads when I fishing spinning reels frequently. With a casting rod I'd be lucky if I wasn't stuck in a tree on shore.
  20. I was in the same boat as you in my comfort zone with spinning gear but yes casting gear has its place. Get yourself a Daiwa Tatula either 6 or 7 to 1 gear ratio reel on Ebay. They list for $150 but can be found for around $94. The Tatula rods can also be found at a discount price online. In fact I think someone posted a link in the best $100 casting rod post. You could put together a great set up for under $200.

Super glue the bait to the head and you will get many more fish per bait. Loc-tite gel control is what was recommended to me and it works well.
