6 lb test invisx
It sounds like a potential bad batch of fluorocarbon. I would contact the manufacturer and describe what you told us. It may get you a free spool of line.

Help me catch more fish :-)
For sure wait until Black Friday. I recommend the Johnny Morris combos from Bass Pro Shop.

New to Bass fishing...Advice on Equipment
I'll second the grub. Great bait. However, you can save a few bucks buying the Cabela's brand (BPS, Gander Mountain, etc.) over the Kalins, Yamamoto, etc., etc.. Just my experience fishnkamp I haven't seen the grub brand make as big of a difference as the senko brand because it's a moving bait. Well that's how I fish it, slow steady retrieve. I know it likely depends on the time of year and water temperature to which retrieve is best.

You look like a seasoned veteran with those choices. They only thing I would suggest is bumping your 6# line up to 8# fluorocarbon.

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
I have two of the NRX 872s. I can't use a 7' rod anymore. As stupid as it sounds that extra few inches just feels right (I know, I know insert that's what she said jokes)

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
I don't have the information right in front of me but doesn't the 852 have the extra fast action and 842 fast action? Update- I just looked online that is how they are different.
- Am I missing anything

Need suggestions.
For the money Bass Pro Shop Johnny Morris combos are a good way to go too. Other than that I'd grab a St Croix Avid X ML during TW sale and whatever Pflueger President reel your remaining funds can afford. Choice #2 is probably what I would do but if you can't wait 5 weeks option 1 is solid. Since you are newly back to fishing you may not know TW = Tackle warehouse . You're probably gonna wish you never learned of this place.

Anyone fishing Lake St Clair?
Nice work! My season stunk this year barely made it to St Clair about 5 times or so. Got the house ready to sell and still waiting for it to sell

That picture doesn't do those fish justice but I heard they had two 7 pounders. Did you fish the Monster Quest Larry?

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
I disagree with your comment. If I pay $550 for a rod that's crap. Either 1) It's immediately being returned or 2) I'm voicing my opinion that this rod sucks on whatever fishing forum.

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
If you're referring to the Wild Card thing it sounds like they don't do that anymore since Shimano bought Loomis. From what they said you get one free replacement. Who knows that will probably change by the time I need it. I didn't really buy with the intention to resell but in a way it was peace of mind if I didn't like the rods I could unload for what I paid or better. Now that I used them for a season they will not be going anywhere

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
I wouldn't pay full price either but if you're a savvy shopper deals can be found. I picked up my first during the Bass Master Classic weekend this year. TW had them on sale for 40% off. I picked up one more during the year from Monster Fishing Tackle. I paid $699 total for 2 brand new NRX rods. With the peace of mind you get with the warranty I would go that route all day every day. It seems like custom rods don't have much of a resale market.

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
You have the Black Friday sales coming up that would knock the price of the NRX down to around the GLX price. I bought 2 NRX'S this year both 872s and use it for many applications including drop shot.

Still Confused
From the techniques you described you would be best suited with 2 rods. 1) A medium or medium-heavy with either fast or extra fast action. 2) A medium heavy moderate to moderate fast action rod. In the Daiwa line that is considered regular action. Happy shopping.

Help with a new rod
What about the Fenwick World Class on sale for $200 on TW? I'd suggest the 7'2" medium.

how should I use the rods I have and what do I need to buy next
Those are good but you need 3 more G Loomis NRX spinning and baitcast rods just because

GLoomis warranty
The Xpeditor program through the G Loomis website is top notch. Another avenue might be American Legacy Fishing website and if you buy a rod through them they pay that $75 Xpeditor fee.

Technique For: 7 Foot - Medium Heavy - Moderate Fast
I have a regular action Daiwa Zillion rod that I absolutely love as my Keitech rod. I think that moderate fast action allows the fish to be able to grab that bait before I pull it away from them.

Michigan guys new state record smallie
Hey guys , I've seen some chatter on Facebook about a new state record smallmouth caught on Burt Lk. The fish was certified at 9.98 pounds. Beat the new state record set last fall. You can probably find some information online.

Braid to Fluoro???
Went that direction this season and so glad I did. Other than the initial setup costs no downsides only positives. I recommend using mono as a backer before you get into your braid. It will further help with the cost.
