  1. Bass love clear water esp on the potomac. Stained water isnt nearly as bad as chocolate water tho. Once the water gets dark then the sun stops hittin the grass and it dies. Thats why the places with clearer water right now have greener grass and way more fish. They love the oxygen in the green stuff. I noticed when I took thai to my grassbed at fort washington all the grass was dead and the water was brown. Total waste of time. I only fish the clear and stained stuff. And I know thai said the water was stained out there but infact alot of it was brown also. I'm gonna give belmont bay a try since its a mile or two from leesylvania. Im not gonna keep payin to launch out of pohick when I have an annual pass to lessylvania. It's addin up fast. the lack of light kills the grass within a few days? that doesn't sound right. But either way, I get the point, dead grass=no bass and I definitely agree with that one. re: Pohick, you could always get the all-year pass for Pohick as well. I don't know how the expiration works (year from purchase or end of the calendar year) but it could be a good investment.
  2. why would i have to put new guides on??????? look at a spinning rod. Then look at a casting rod. Notice that the guides are different. There is a reason for that. Technically you could use a spinning rod with a casting reel, but it wouldn't work as well as it could on a regular casting rod. I imagine the spine of the rod and the guide positioning could also lead to premature breakage.
  3. sure, but you'd have to remove the guides and put new ones on... just buy a casting rod.
  4. Sometimes tiny is better! Like most other posts, I had both and have never caught anything on the spro but have been pretty successful on the tru-tungsten. I eventually sold my spro. If your absolutely set on getting one I'd say go for the tru-tungsten. Much better "small" swimbait imo. It's not even worthy of being called a swimbait. I'm just not into paying $20 for that little of a bait. There's nothing to warrant the price, especially when considering the reports of it falling apart.
  5. It would be worse if they calculated using only the number of days they work...
  6. Dan: replied to Catt's topic in Everything Else
if it didn't fall out of the sky when he shot it then he must have a pretty good retrieving dog! ;D
  7. If you must by one, get the Spro. The TT is TINY!
  8. I knew it! I wrote "Tucson" but then I went back and changed my post to "Tuscon" because someone else had written it that way. Kind of a strange word
  9. unless it's a Shimano....
  10. Wait, $8 with shipping? How is that possible?
  11. hopefully it wasn't wrecked along the way. and hopefully it won't be full of bullet holes, crack residue, or feces...
  12. perhaps...but I'm just saying, maybe DW will see this and stop using his clandestine username or something
  13. nevermind, it appears (at least to me) that Dink Whisperer has been unbanned as well. Ya'll must have served your time.
  14. I've heard Tucson can be a real crap hole
  15. What is wrong with dark water? Just change your approach. Use bigger blades, rattles, and darker colors.
  16. wait, so did the other dude get unbanned too?
  17. wow. I've never seen one of those before. That's a huge fish!
  18. dude, seriously? I wasn't convinced before but now I am.
  19. Nice, dude! Give me a call if you need a partner (besides tomorrow)
  20. ahem, "was"? Come on! She's easily still a 9.5
  21. They aren't necessarily private, just secret. Many times that I've "spread the love" around here someone else ends up spreading my love farther than I wanted to. Obviously there's a few exceptions but I have a few lakes that I don't take other people to until I've fished with them a few times to decide if I can trust them or even want to fish with them in the future.
  22. That was the biggest from Lake "X." ....although it was the biggest of about 30 on a cold, windy morning.
  23. Ehhh, we had one person who was a no-show and failed to communicate whatsoever and I think it was five.bass.limit that ended up without an exchange partner. We just handled it privately although unfortunately fbl didn't get to participate. I still have not heard from the member that backed out (he still posts) but I WILL NOT allow him to participate next year as long as I run it again.
  24. What Thai didn't mention was that about 30 of those fish weighed less than a pound! ;D
  25. I cast with the same hand that I hold the rod with while I reel. No switching involved. BTW, Shimano
