  1. The Teramar is an inshore (salt/brackish water)...I'm not sure but sometimes their actions are rated differently than freshwater rods. I never buy MH spinning rods, anything I want to do with a MH power, I do with a casting rod, but to each his own. The St Croix Mojo, Abu Garcia Vendetta, Falcon Bucco and Shimano Compre are all popular rods in that price range. Check *** for length and power ratings available. There are some style differences, but I have heard great things about the Compres and the Vendettas.
  2. Gotcha, I figured you put the crate inside and then blew the tire up around it. I might have to steal that one.
  3. agreed, that WAS an interception.
  4. man, I didn't predict any upsets this week, I guess I missed a few... Oregon lost to Stanford Notre Dame lost to Navy Penn State lost to Ohio State Iowa lost to Northwestern and a bunch of other close games. I thought this was going to be a boring weekend besides the LSU/Alabama and Penn State/Ohio State games.
  5. nice! I would never think a single piece of wood would have three nice fish on it.
  6. Imagine if Shaq punched somebody in the back for boxing him out. Or if a wide receiver facemasked a cornerback for pulling on his jersey... There is a certain level of contact that is acceptable, then there is a level that is not. For example, slide tackling is legal, but punching an opponent in the face during the slide tackle is not. That is why this girl is a dirty player.
  7. They never made it. The only Curado E that comes in left hand retrieve is the E7 that you own.
  8. nice Wayne! I never thought of that. How is the crate secured in the tube? And where did you find a crate that size? I like a 7' M/XF rod for wading because I almost exclusively use soft plastics and that is the rod I prefer for those applications.
  9. spunk? I was thinking "b*#^h" I'm glad she got suspended indefinitely.
  10. I had never heard of gobies in the southeast.
  11. the ending of that song is awesome. It's one of those songs that gets exponentially better the louder you play it.
  12. I like 'em. Check out "Tiny Little Robots" especially the ending. They mix a little funk/go-go beat in there.
  13. One of my fishing partners told me he found baby turtles in a bass once. Personally, I've only seen baitfish tails and crawfish claws.
  14. "zima or tequiza...That's for women...somebody pass the gin and powerade" Good question, it's been a while since I've seen it in any stores.
  15. I gotta, say, just from reading 420Angler's posts, he is an extremely well-researched consumer.* I don't know too much about the differences between fiberglass boats, but the differences he listed between aluminum and fiberglass are dead on from my experiences. *for a Daiwa guy.... ;D steveb1, make sure to check out the boating section of the forum. I'm sure you will learn a lot and get some good answers there.
  16. franzia boy, lmao habby birthday dude, hope you get a big PSU victory this weekend for a present.
  17. read the FAQs. Learn the rules and chances are you'll enjoy this place. If you don't want to stay, don't be a drama queen by asking for someone to delete your account, just stop posting.
  18. meanwhile, they've become the main forage for the smallmouth. If they are hurting the population of the walleyes, then that is one less predator for the smallmouth to compete with...these are the unpredictable things I am talking about. I just don't think we know the full extent of the changes yet.
  19. alligator gar! I'm assuming cut bait?
  20. Gotta produce some 10's before there is any chance at a World Record. The waters of the Great Lakes region are the #1 smallmouth fisheries, no doubt, but they will never produce a World Record. Tremendous numbers and VERY nice size, but no 10's, which is still a long ways from 11-15. 8-) I don't think you can ever say never, especially about something that is so uncertain. Erie has had significant changes in the last decade or so, I think it would be presumptuous to assume we understand the whole reality and consequences of those changes right now. Who knows what the gobies and zebra mussels might lead to down the line.
  21. I've read some convincing articles that made a strong argument for the Eastern part of Erie.
  22. I imagine putting the little lips on the ends of all the tentacles would be awfully difficult.
  23. I thought the spine was always supposed to be on top? (meaning on the same side as the guides on a casting rod and on the opposite side of the guides on a spinning rod) Where are the rod builders when you need them?!?
  24. So what's killing the grass? Colder water?
  25. Weightless 90% of the time, the size of hook depends on the size of the fluke, usually 2/0-4/0 offset shank (I like Owners). The other 10% would be C-rigged or w/ a circle hook through the nose. Try the salty shads from Case Plastics: I feel they are superior to flukes. They are of a different consistency/density than Zoom flukes. Think of a fluke made out of senko-like plastic. IMO, they are thus heavier and cast easier than flukes. Not to mention they sink better, hence the "Sinkin' Salty Shad" name. They are great baits when you want to fish a little deeper than a traditional fluke, but as with senkos, they seem to be less durable (not that flukes are all that durable themselves). I have been using Wave Tiki Shaddicks lately. They are fairly tough, and they have great action. If you want to fish deeper, just grab some 4/0 or 5/0 keel weighted hooks in 1/8 or 1/16oz. I use them a lot for flukes. As long as you rig them straight they will still allow the fluke to walk side to side at a deeper depth.
