and it got him on base to get scored by the next batter on the very next pitch! exactly why you take a HBP anytime you can! The odds of getting on base in the majors are low enough that the players take any chance they get to reach base. That is smart baseball.

That's what you're supposed to do. If you don't you'll get hit in a spot like your face or arm that'll take you out of the game. My sophomore year in high school I got hit 16 times one season, one time 3 in a game. It doesn't hurt too bad getting hit in the back. very true, you are always supposed to turn your head and body towards the ump so you get hit somewhere on the back of your body. Better to get hit in the back/butt/hammies/calves than the chest/balls/pelvis/or shins. Getting hit in the shins is the WORST. Actually, getting hit in the hands sucks pretty bad too.

from a baseball standpoint, getting hit by a pitch is a productive at-bat. On my high school team you would get hassled if you dodged a pitch. Stay in there and take it for the team and NEVER RUB IT! A base runner is a base runner. *Obviously that doesn't count MLB pitches that are coming at your head.
  4. I'm very jealous. They are on top of my "species-to-catch" list.
  5. I like my STX, but it has some anti-reverse issues that are probably the result of me being VERY, VERY rough on it (it is my slop/frog reel) so I don't necessarily fault it. At the current prices, I don't think there is even a choice between the STX and the Premier for me (unless you need a high gear ratio). The Premier is light, smooth, easy to use, and now last years versions are also very affordable.
  6. I disagree, personally I prefer my Premier to my Fuego.
  7. I would try to find someone local. You'd probably be able to find someone fairly easily through google or the yellow pages. It'll be a lot cheaper than shipping your reel.

oh, the "finesse" "swimbaits." I thought we were talking about "real" swimbaits, those big giant ones that require 20lb line.

An easy counter-argument: a quick look at their schedule. ;D

I always thought that line with reaction baits didn't make much difference, but how light of line can you even use with swimbaits? You still have to use line that is heavy enough for the lure, any downsizing you do is still going to be visible.
  11. Dan: replied to Chaz Hickcox's topic in Fishing Reports
What's the point of using light line on swimbaits? Plastics are critical for "target-oriented" fishing. You'll be able to get many more bites with subtle and vertical presentations now than before you used plastics.
  12. the funniest part was that the guy actually got the whole order correct. I wish the drive thru people around me had half of his talent.
  13. you could put up signs around the neighborhood... ;D but seriously, I have no idea. If you can't get into the contacts then I'm not sure if you have any good options.
  14. Since you asked about two SPECIFIC reels, I will give you a response about the one of those reels that I have used, just to give you at least SOME perspective about it. I own a Revo Premier (last year's version) and a Revo STX. I prefer my Premier to my STX greatly. Some people say they are the same in performance, others say the Premier is less smooth. I disagree. I find my Premier to be great at casting (especially baits in the 3/8-3/4oz range) and extremely smooth and light. I would not hesitate to buy another, especially when you can get the older version at such a great discount now.
  15. Simple , not a very good coach. Yeah, but come on guys, we don't know how those kids were instructed before hand. Maybe the kids just weren't listening.
  16. one kid is a future linebacker and the other is a future tennis player.... but seriously, they should make sure to teach the kids about not leading with your helmet. It's not safe and it's poor form.
  17. Hahaha. Your'e about my age, Dan... Tell me it didn't bring back memories of Hulk Hogan matches. I started walking around my living room doing the Hulk strut. Never really watched wrestling. I just thought it looked hilarious because he is so oddly shaped and he was wearing a unitard!

Upgrades to newer versions of Windows were usually forced for the following reasons: 1. Windows ceased supporting the version OS the consumer was using. When did this happen? The last time that I heard of them doing that they quickly changed their mind and decided to keep supporting the old version. I believe that was Win98. 2. Due to changes in applications, programs purchased would no longer run on older versions of Windows. (failure to support legacy applications)What programs aren't backwards compatible with Windows? Sure, other software companies make programs for the newer OS's but that isn't necessarily Window's fault. 3. Pure dissatisfaction with the current windows product and hoping the next version would improve. I sure have. I deal with extensive Java based programs within MS's glorious IE everyday. Since MS doesn't even bundle Java within it's OS (all apart of that anti-trust thing), it often has problems with one of the most popular programming languages used in internet based programming today. Java aside, it's all about programmers having to write programs to interact with windows API. Not an easy task and it shouldn't be that way. Consumers often make the wrong choices. The pro's (TV studios, film makers, commercial video recording medium) continued to use the Betamax and derivatives of that format for many years to come. They knew the advantages and acted accordingly. The "Pros" also use PC's to render their computer animations because Mac's don't have the processing power. MAC is in much the same shape that Betamax was. It now targets a different user that doesn't care for windows, at least having that OS interfere with the running of specific applications they use and it's the reason it's more of a commercial version of an operating system vs. a system that has mass appeal. Yep, it's tough to find a lot of programs designed to run on a MAC. Much the same way it got difficult to find movies that were also available on Betamax. MAC pricing? It's tough to drop pricing when you're selling so few units. When you can mass market to the entire world you can price accordingly.Yeah, sort of like how Apple charges an arm and a leg for an ipod, despite having almost the entire market share for mp3 players. :-/ If Mac was really better for the average user, people would be buying it. Betamax was foregone because the tapes were too short to play or record entire movies and there were prohibitive licensing issues that made them more expensive to use. PCs are cheaper and do what an average user needs well enough to give them the majority of the market and to discourage customers from spending the higher amount of a Mac that does less and if only marginally better.
  19. Tony, I also thought it was just a bunch of yelling at first but it really is a pretty funny show. I have to agree that last night's episode was fantastic. Little Danny Devito standing in the middle of the ring with his arms in the air after the wrestling match was hilarious!
  20. Congratulations! Glad everything is ok.

It's to make them feel better about spending all that money on a computer.

That's the problem. An operating system should rarely be seen or heard. Windows has a perpetual ego problem Windows has an ego problem? WINDOWS?!?! HA! Try again. And people can claim that Windows is glitchy as much as they want, but the fact is that as long as you aren't dumb, there really aren't too many problems with it. I don't own a computer because it has windows or to run windows. I use a computer to run applications. The operating system should merely be a graphical interface to allow that to happen. MS has long tried to insist that it's all about windows. I should not have to upgrade my computer to install an operating system. Since when did you have to upgrade your computer to install an operating system? Nobody is forcing you to upgrade your OS. I should have to upgrade my computer if applications I need for use at home or work require it. An operating system should be in the background and only use resources as minimally as possible. It also shouldn't either become confused and lock up nor inform me that a program is confusing it on a rather consistent basis nor ask me if I wish to inform the designers of the operating system if I wish to report to them why their operating system has once again failed to allow an application to run properly on my computer. While no program can be programmed perfectly, Windows has always had issues running just about any application at some point without running into conflicts of some sort, often caused by it's own presence on the computer.I don't know anyone who has actually had such problems. Sure, I've had programs crash every once in a while, but most of the time it's because of something I did. Windows has an ego because it's always been about Windows. Those d**n consumers, where do they get off CHOOSING what they buy?!?! Windows and the MAC OS are sorta like the old VHS vs. Betamax. Beta was the superior format. It provided a much better picture with better response. It failed to garner the market because the American consumer was ignorant to it's superior advantages and instead, settled for the status quo. Such as it is with Windows though in the case of that operating system, the terms anti trust have long since applied but were always ignored till it was way too late in the game. What makes a Mac superior? I could give two craps about video or picture editing, yet I would like to be able to play computer games so PC is clearly the better choice. ADDITIONALLY, MY LAPTOP COST ME $450 AND IT HAS GREATER COMPUTING POWER THAN A $1000 APPLE LAPTOP. Sorry, but to me it seems pretty clear that Apple is the egotistical company. How else can you explain their prices? Don't get me wrong, I would like to have a Mac laptop to use for watching movies, writing, and surfing the web but I'm not going to spend twice as much money on a computer to do those things, even if it does do them MARGINALLY better.

Terminator jigs for $1.99. That's a pretty good deal.
