  1. I agree with that Catt. That's some of the better spring/early summer flipping cover on Kentucky Lake. You can wrap a fish around brush on the hook set if you're not careful!

Here's my first two fish of this year. The one on the left hit 4#. All of my fish Saturday came off of a red Cotton Cordell Super Spot. Some big fish caught, it took 20.96lbs to win that day!
  4. Alton Jones would not be a happy camper.
  5. Dang, and I thought you would be happy or something ;D
  6. I understand what you're saying Mike, but what average person from TN is going to come down, rent his own boat and equipment, and then go out and look for reefs, and or wrecks? That just isn't cheap or logical. Hiring a guide or charter service is the easiest way to have some exciting fun fighting saltwater fish. I recommend staying away from party barges. You'll spend more time tangled up and waiting for the mates to come unhook fish or eels from your line. I would look into smaller groups or a private charter if you have a group going down.
  7. I disagree with the above poster about work. If you get a good guide the most work you're going to be doing is reeling in some nice fish. My family went to Destin for years and we went deep sea fishing every year. If you're looking to catch some good eating fish, I would consider bottom fishing for snapper, flounder, and grouper. If you're looking for some good fights with decent tasting fish, I would try to find somebody who trolls for mackeral with inshore spinning outfits. I'll try to find the cards we have from guides we've used in the past.
  8. The best wrap I've seen is this guy who fishes the Weekend Series here in TN. The sponsor is some big law firm but the graphics is a picture of the US Constitution with ink well and quill!
  9. Or maybe just free hashbrowns
  10. :-? You missed some pretty entertaining posts that got deleted buddy

I think it's one of the funniest shows on tv right now. I think it's absolutely hilarious. The episode on Excelsior was on of my favorite.
  12. wiggle wart, shad rap, daiwa peanut, norman deep baby n are just a few.

You obviously haven't seen the sexy shad thread :
  14. Razorback, it looks like that creek runs by the Wyatt Crossing Public Area. Are you talking about that cove or the actual creek channel?
  15. No problem. I know I fished a collegiate tournament a few years ago and they had a team there. They are also listed as a competitor on collegebass.com.
  16. The yellow lateral line with the grayish-blue back is a very close match to the colors of an actual threadfin shad. As for it's popularity....KVD.
  17. Early on I like wind blown main river banks or banks right inside creek mouths with pea gravel. I like to fish those areas with small balsa cranks. I then gradually move into the backs of the creeks. I still like to crank with those small balsa baits around chunk rocks, stumps, and laydowns. But I'm also looking for spawning flats with sparse grass that I can fish lipless baits with.
  18. Good stuff guys. I'm gonna try to do a little more research next time I'm down there. Thanks for all the tips.
  19. 5BL is gonna love this post They definitely are sharp.
  20. I don't like to let mine rest very long. I normally like to get it moving just as soon as I feel it make contact again. I don't like to let mine rest very long on any of those retrieves really though.
  21. Why? If you draw attention to yourself, for example a tournament win, and the company sees you with their logo showing; do you not think that it would have an impact on that company?
  22. I really like the sweep and pause, crank and stop, and yo-yo techniques in pre-spawn and in the fall around grass. In the pre-spawn, I'll fish it in many different spots. Spawning flats or small creeks leading to spawning areas. I'll also throw it along banks of creek mouths leading back to spawning areas. I'll fish it around any cover I can, grass, lay downs, stumps, etc. Sometimes the fish want it jigged, sometimes they want it swept up and then to flutter back down, or sometimes they just want a slight pause thrown into a steady retrieve. That pause, depending on how long you stop, can make the bait either just hover before moving again, or it can flutter before taking off again. Anytime you can knock that bait into something is a plus. Those changes in the bait's action are what often triggers strikes. The strike could occur as soon as you stop/flutter/make contact or it could occur right when you start your retrieve again. It takes a little figuring out, but most of the time once you find that first bite you can mimic it all day and really load the boat. As for my personal preference, I like the Cotton Cordell Super Spot in Rayburn Red or Chrome/Black back
  23. Good point. I dunno. It wouldn't hurt to email the companies you're thinking of.
  24. I think as long as your not making a profit of wearing them or telling everyone that you're affiliated by them then it's ok. I'm sure many of them wouldn't mind the free advertising. I'm not sure though.
