Beeswax Creek
It wasn't won there in 2007, but KVD finished a close 2nd out of Beeswax that year. Another interesting point, if you go to Bassmaster.com and read the interview with Russ Lane, the creek he caught most of his fish out of on Day 3 is the creek he says is the best in the lake. Conditions just didn't get right until that last day. I think that adds to the fact about the warmer temps and clearer water in Beeswax really made a big difference.

I like a wheat beer. I don't care for BL Golden Wheat but I do enjoy a nice Blue Moon or Shock Top.

kentucky lake
I wanted to fish that tournament too. Couldn't find somebody else that would commit for a whole weekend though. My thoughts are it's going to be tough. According to the lake report the water is a nice 41 degrees! They have been pulling a lot of water so it should be down and maybe it has cleared up some. Good luck to you buddy.

Cougar Life ad?
Nice cougar there Robert you bag that one with the new bow?

National Champion
Definitely wasn't implying they were cheating. Just saying Alabama has serious connections which is why I think it started with them. I had no idea that Auburn arrived late until just now. How many pounds were they penalized for being late?

Beeswax Creek
Just read another quote from KVD where he said the back of Beeswax creek had two feeder creeks, stumps, coontail grass, shellbed depressions on the edges of the creeks and flats coming off each creek. That's a lot of detailed structure and cover that will attract a large quantity of fish. He also said that he had found a few other creeks that had the coontail grass, but none with as much as Beeswax. Another interesting note he mentioned, was that Todd Faircloth's spot was his #1 spot in the 2007 Classic.

Dead lilly pads?
That was what was causing the confusion in my head. I'll give it a try and report back. Hopefully the heat will be worth more than the depleted oxygen to the fat green fish I'll be after.

gloves
Do you guys have problems casting baitcasters with gloves on? I tried and couldn't get the hang of it. Either stopped way short because the material was hitting the spool or backlashed like crazy. I'm thinking about trying latex gloves as a base layer and then wool finger-less gloves on top of those.

Why KVD?
Well the all time money leader thing is pretty irrelevant considering guys like Gary Klien, Rick Clunn, Denny Brauer, Roland Martin, Bill Dance, and Jimmy Houston were all fishing when the payout for Classic Champion was the same as this years last place competitor. As far as stats, Gary Klien has fished in 28 Bassmaster Classics. Rick Clunn has won 4 Classics. Roland Martin has won 9 Angler of the Year awards. He's got some serious records to beat before he comes the best all-time. But calling him dominant is kind of borderline. It's all on your opinions of who's saying.

Dead lilly pads?
I've got a question for you guys who fish in places with lots of lilly pad fields. Do the dead lilly pad stems hold fish early in the year? I'm fishing a tournament at a small lake with very little structure and cover besides the lilly pads that grow in the backs of some of the coves. This time of year they are all dead and it is mainly just stems under the water. Will they hold fish? Or will I be wasting my time.

Why KVD?
in the most recent bassmaster magazine there is actually an article where guys like Gerald Swindle, Davy Hite and a few others talk about why they think KVD is as good as he is. Pretty good read.

Why KVD?
No but I can tell you he didn't catch a keeper on day 2 which kept him out of the cut

A buzzed conclusion...
Got ya. Was just going to see if your store did something to the one similar to the one in our college town. We get a 'student discount' on party night haha. 15% off with your student id.

A buzzed conclusion...
I heard the Red Stag was pretty good. Just a question, is the store you work in located in a college town?

A buzzed conclusion...
Tin have you tried Evan Williams Honey? I haven't but heard it tasted just as good for half the price.

A buzzed conclusion...
I know several people that drink George Dickel. When I'm low on money though I prefer Evan Williams. When I get my refund checks or around my birthday I normally jump for Crown or Buffalo Trace.

Beeswax Creek
I saw that too Taylor, there were numerous reports that Beeswax Creek had the warmest water temperatures and also less color than other creeks. Apparently a healthy collection of coontail grass as well.

National Champion
Not exactly the National Champion. There are two National Championship tournaments each year and this isn't one of them. The way this format is setup is that at least on of the teams will be near the Bassmaster Classic location each year. For instance, next year Alabama will travel to Louisiana to fish against one of the local schools down there. Not to imply cheating, but the fact that this may have started this year with Alabama. Tripp Weldon, the tournament director for all Elite Series tournaments two sons fish/ed for Alabama. Hank, the oldest now works with College Bass and was behind the College Classic. Ben was a member of the Alabama team competing.

Beeswax Creek
The way I understood it is that KVD had the back of that creek all by himself. Faircloth, Kriet, and some others fished out closer to the main river more.
