BAITMATE GAMEFISH SCENT-anyone use it?
Walmart sells that brand of attractant. I have never used it, but the catfish guys I talk to swear by it. I am currently testing Mustads Ultrabite. Gonna see if it works like they say.

Priorities and Fishing
Next time, take her out in the boat, and let her fish with you.............. That would be the best of both worlds IMO.

attention jetoutboard owners
You need to get advertising of some sort to the Pacific Northwest(Oregon, Washington, Idaho). Everyone out there runs pumps on sleds, so they can salmon fish the rivers..... Ever seen a 24 ft. flat bottomed jetsled going 60 across the water and hit a log??? lol,,,, quite a bump when they finally hit water again.....

Too many dinks, and trying to make a difference
I do not know about Pa. but in Washington state the Fish and Wildlife have public forums for citizens to express thier concerns and ideas to the administrators. A lot of these have been implemented with success. Check with your local or state office, and see if you can have a face to face,,, after you do the before mentioned homework.... You want to come across as very passionate, but also educated in the matter. It will impress them to no end. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! and keep us posted on any replies or answers you get.

Cold Weather Gear Thread Again
I am one of those guys who just doesnt get cold very often. However, I do know that I have to protect agains hypothermia, especially if it is raining. I wear lightweight silk long johns if it gets down to freezing, in addition a set of thinsulate camo coveralls(sprayed with scotchguard for water resistance) I wear once the temps get down to 40 degrees or so... For my feet, I wear wool socks and my running shoes. I do not want heavy boots on, just in case. I also carry a dry pair of socks and a dry shirt in my truck to change into after I am done for the day, in case I get soaking wet. Head gear, if it is raining, a wide brimmed cowboy hat. If it is just cold, maybe a wool stocking cap, but usually a wide brimmed cowboy hat.. lol I also have a waist length rain jacket if it pours down rain. I have always hated rain pants, so I dont wear them. I try and stay as lightweight as I can, you never know when an accident is going to happen, and you go overboard. I want items I can get out of quickly.

electric trolling motors
I only know this about the trolling motors. Minn Kota has composite shafts so they give a lot before bending or breaking when you run into something like a stump or a Crocodile, . The Motor Guides have a solid steel shaft that will bend if you run into something. I run nothing but Minn Kotas on my boat. They seem to perform better for me. Just MHO. By the way. Welcome to the fishermen from down under...

Does color matter??

raised deck
I am keeping mine at the top of the seat level, gives me about a 2 in. lip to keep things from rolling overboard, and will be more stable with a slightly lower deck, and since I am 6'4" and about 330 lbs. stability is more important than an extra couple of inches of storage.

fish see better in cold water!?!
This is a very informative thread. Thanks for posting it. I knew I should have listened in biology class, instead of trying to study the cheerleaders biology! : ;D ;D. And I know us warm blooded creatures are supposed to have a constant temp, but man have you ever cuddled up to your lady at night, and found an iceberg????????? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D hope the wife doesnt read this one.... :-/ :-/

Is it just a superstition?
UMMMMMMMMMM that kinda throws the confidence bait theory out the window doesnt it????????? I mean, if you think you are gonna do great, then if your non confidence bait is say jigs. Then you should be able to throw jigs and catch fish. Am I right????

do trolling motors spook bass
I watch my graph a lot when I am moving the boat around. Even if i am just puttering real slow with the bow motor, you can see fish on the graph, diving for deep water (at least that is what the book says I am seeing). So, yes, if you get to close to the fish even if they are 4-7 ft. down, they spook. Now is it the motor or the shadow of the boat overhead???????????? Did I just open a can of worms??? :

boats are not cheap
My little brother races his Mustang for a hobby Current costs to date for the car about 70,000.00. This does not include track fees, dyno shop costs, or the like (and the car is street legal) Last time he ran, dumped the rear end, into about 150 little pieces all over the track, bent the axles, etc..... he is having to sue the guy who did the work, it is a racing shop and the guy told him,, "oh we do not warranty anything if you race the car" :o > > >. So feel I feel fortuanate my hobbies do not cost an arm and a leg,, although a gas motor having to go in the shop would probably break me, : :. I am glad I fish with TMs on small lakes.

Does color matter??
As I am going thru my list of items to purchase, to deck and fix up my jon boat, and reading everyones posts about painting, I had a thought. Does the color of the bottom of the boat matter for a fishing boat?????? I have seen black, white, blue, etc..... I guess I am more curious than anything right now, since at the moment, I do not have plans to paint, but one never knows when the boat monkey will raise its ugly head.

How To Handle Slumps
Maybe I was not clear, when I go after fish with live bait, it is bream, crappie, trout, etc...... It is something that you can use to guarantee yourself a few bites. Plus, that is the only way I can get my wife to go with me! When it comes to bass fishing, I use artificial only.

Some info for people modifying thier jon boats
Guys, (and gals) I found this website today, maybe it has already been posted before(but did not find it on the forum), but it is a wealth of knowledge if you plan on modifying/decking your jon boat. It also has links to other sites that have even more information. It is gonna help me a lot this winter as I deck and modify my boat. http://secretweaponlures.com/odf/odfsite.html

Thanks for the tough advice
Sounds like you have made a purchase that will last you as long as you want to fish. Enjoy, and post some pics of that baby, as well as the first fish you catch outta her. Welcome to the slave quarters of the BOAT MONKEY! ;D ;D ;D

What would you have done???
I think I would have tried a fluke or a a senko, thrown weightless, and used like a jerkbait. I have used that before when the bait fish are schooling on top, and have caught bass.

voltage of fully charge batteries
my charger shuts down and then maintains the charge on the battery. When I hook it up to my fish finder, (a cuda 242) it gives me a reading of 13 volts, which to my knowledge is a a full charge on a battery.
