For me, it's gotta be a Senko or a knockoff of. Weightless, light weight texas, Carolina rig, Flipping & pitching or Wacky. Does not matter. One of my rods will always include one on a trip.

My guess is catfish, I would think a turtle would have pinched the head off.

Depends on how thick the cover is. I like a swim jig in grass and a chaterbait around laydowns and stumps.

Rod tip down, tight line, That is why a fast reel is important. After hook set the fish normally will come up to get it of the mouth. Point the rod tip down and tight.

Carry a pool thermometer in your tackle bag.

I still use one for spinnerbait fishing.
