  1. Ok roger. So is the secondary blade the one on the back near the split ring or the one on the clevis?
  2. this is exactly what im talking about, it looks sort of like a black gun with a trigger etc.....they really dont make them anymore?
  3. Ok thanks guys these are great replies. If I think of anyhting else ill ask Do oaklahoma blades give off more vibration than coloroado? they look pretty similar in shape, also not far from an indiana blade
  4. I remember some time ago on BassResource.com that there was a tool everyone was talking about and using for de-barbing gut hooked fish. At least I think there was. I'd like to get a good tool for getting gut-hooked fish undone and putting them safely back in the water. any help appreciated -wm
  5. So soon ill be making my own spinnerbaits and had some questions for you guys. Basically im going to start off buying blades and a few other components to modify the baits I already have and then later on down the road possibly buy heads and start from scratch. Questions. 1) Lately it seems some of the skirts have been getting mangled after about 300-400 casts, when i say this I mean like the rubber skirt holder breaking or the skirt failling down. How should I combat this? 2.) I will be ordering some blades soon from barlows or janns netcraft and I'm wondering whats the difference betwen a hammered (turtle back blades) and a regular one? Because I haven't noticed any. When would you use regular vs hammered? 3) What do you think about a very small snap swivel on the end blade for easy swapping vs a split ring? I'f you were making a spinnerbait which would you use? I honestly dont like the looks of the snap in place of the split ring because it seems to make the blade longer from the wire. Maybe it dosen't matter at all, but who knows. Anyway I hope to hear from some of you about these topics. thanks -wm
  6. I actually dont really know which rod im referring to either but I was looking for the rod KVD mentioned in his advanced spinnerbait dvd that he designed for quantum
  7. Has anyone used this? It's the rod KVD is using in his spinnerbait video and also reccomends. I never used quantum rods so I can;t tell how the quality matches up vs St.Croix etc... Spinnerbaiting is a big part of my fishing style so I want to get a rod dedicated to it soon.
  8. only casting 97 feet? I feel like this is pretty far. A major league baseball mound from the playe is like 65 feet.
  9. make sure the wire is in line with the hook, if its slightly to the side it will turn over...I had this happen the other day all it required was a little tuning of the wire
  10. Whats the difference? I haven't noticed anything yet but I know some companies sell baits with oval split rings.
  11. Pit boss is great hooked into a fish yesterday on it
  12. Saw this photo someone posted on facebook tonight. I see a lot of these types of photos but this one stuck out to me, it makes perfect sense To be a champion at something even bass fishing requires being mentally tough through the hard times - not just the good times. Heres the fishermans version: I've fished over 90 tournaments in my career. I've lost almost 300 fish. 26 times I've swung at a bass and missed I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And thats why I succeed. Remember, even the best fail. Dont beat yourself up after a bad day of fishing. Analyze it, learn from it and you will use it to be successful. And like we Jersey natives like to say. Never Give up!!!!!!!!
  13. Pretty sure its the flying lure
  14. Im trying this next time im out
  15. Awesome report. Thanks man
  16. Seems like a good idea. I'm for it.
  17. The line generally wont matter TBH...because the buzzbait sinks anyway theres really no reason to use mono or fluro. I would never use mono fishing a buzzbait because I hate line stretch. But thats just me.
  18. is this a troll? Jerkbaits are probably the worst thing you can throw in muddy water. Id pitch a black/blue jig or a T-rigged creature or beaver type bait. Something that will have a good hue in the muddy water and help them find it. I'f you have wood cover near the bank id be around it all day just hitting it.
  19. It actually dosent seem that bogus. When you think about it, does it really matter what bait you are drop shotting? Usually at drop shot depths color dosent really play an important role at all and visibility also cuts down from sunlight. After all a hula-popper does float and I can almost garuntee if you tried it out some youd likely catch a fish. Also the hooks are on the bottom of the lure so it seems like it would also be pretty weedless on a vertical presentation.
  20. Vandam uses BPS flurocarbon line....need anyone say more?
  21. Hi newbass, right now BPS is having a sale I believe so its good to stock up on some baits. Heres my top 10 baits I would be getting at bass pro shops 1. Lipless Crankbaits (XPS Rattle Shad or Strike King Redeye shad are my two favorite brands) get a white colored one, a flashy one, and a redish one 2. Spinnerbaits (white is usually an all around good color) 3. Black Blue jig paired with a black trailer (any brand) 4. XPS Slim Dog 5. 2x Pack of Berkley Powerbait worms in red shad color (ive caught more fish on these than any other bait on the market) 6. Square bill crankbait 1.5-2.5 diving depth (luck-e-strike or strike king KVD are both good models) 7. Buzzbait (any brand) 8. Hollow Body frog (any brand) 9. Rage tail Shad (if you live near any type of lilly pads or vegetation these are a must) This lure is pure deadly during the warmer months...reel it in like a buzzbait and kill the action and let it float down if needed..run it across the pads..let it sink in the hole and it gets smashed..get these 10. X-Rap Jerkbait or a Lucky Craft pointer good luck
