  1. I love fishing a buzzbait. In fact, it's probably my top favorite bait to throw. However, if I'm allowed only one choice for life I'd have to go spinnerbait, simply because I will be able to fish it it more conditions that I would my beloved buzzbait.
  2. 4.8" Jackall Rythm Wave swimbait on an 1/8oz weighted 4/0 beast hook.
  3. I will 2nd this, as I think the Avid (or AvidX) is a better rod in that price range. I don't see the value in Loomis for anything below the IMX. As for the E6X, I would not purchase one just based on the guides if nothing else. For $200 I expect a little more.
  4. Knowing what bait to throw is very simple... I just ask the fish - they are never wrong. ?
  5. Whereabouts in Tulsa are you? I'm out south and west. I do a lot of pond fishing. Send me a PM if you don't want to reply on here.
  6. All of the correct answers are stated here above, but I will summarize them for you: 1. Be a line watcher. 2. This is exactly the scenario that FC was made for. Get some and use it. 3. You should be fishing this on a semi-slack line presentation rather than a true slack line. 4. When in doubt, set the hook.
  7. Ball bearings and gear ratio are two biggest differences I believe. Here is a link to compare the two side by side: http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/compare?category=Pflueger-Reels-Spinning-Reels&pfh=260cf62a2d3c36e9b0f5dd697b5fee49
  8. Level 3 cut resistant gloves. Cut the thumb and index finger off right hand (for RH reel) for better feel when casting if you like, and then lip the fish with your left.
  9. 1. T-rigged senko, weightless or with a tungsten weight depending on depth/cover 2. Wacky rigged senko 3. Soft paddle tail swimbait 4. Cavitron buzzbait 5. Spinnerbait, typically with a gold Colorado blade but will vary with water clarity
  10. I have tried a lot of different braided lines and have settled onSmackdown. I feel it is head and shoulders above the rest.
  11. 30-40lb braid is my preference for buzzbaits.
  12. I use 17lb Invisix for a leader on a regular basis and it does great.
  13. Can't go wrong with a Pflueger. I'd spend a few extra bucks and get the Supreme, or the Supreme XT if that's within your budget.
  14. Been using Smackdown and am extremely happy with it in all aspects. Can't see making a change anytime soon.
  15. I'm not here to judge you, but I do feel obligated to suggest that you MIGHT have a problem.
  16. Clear water and sunny skies are the correct conditions for using clear or translucent baits.
  17. Get black orochi and white Python, and you will have all the colors you will ever need. Now, having all the colors you will ever want, well that's a different story!
  18. Where's the dude who posted pics of like 9 new NRX rods in the bait monkey thread? I wanna hear hear what he has to say here!
  19. Never had a problem using the SDJ. Will also use a Palomar for certain applications, like tying directly to hooks.
  20. Plastics: GYCB, Biospawn, Savage Gear Soft Swimbaits: Keitech Topwater: Jackall, Megabass (Buzzbait: Megastrike Cavitron) Cranks: Lucky Craft, 6th Sense
  21. I normally fish them weightless T-rigged on a 4/0 Owner twistlock, and I catch the most fish rigging like this. When I want to get them down a little farther/faster, I'll use the 4/0 weighted Beast twistlock. Occasionally I will also use the 3/0-1/4oz Owner ultrahead round jig head if I want to skip around on the bottom.
  22. One more vote for the rooster tail - good for almost any condition or species.
  23. This and the Cavitron buzzbait would be my best topwater producers.
  24. A-Jay nailed it with regards to not causing too much disturbance with a search type bait in the smaller body of water. Just to expand on his post a little, a good method is to find the high percentage areas and start out by throwing your smaller, lighter baits (like soft plastics and small jigs), and once you've exhausted the area with those, then throw the baits that make a lot of racket/displace a lot of water.
