  1. just wondering is there a universal switch that I can put near the throttle to raise and lower the motor? I have two one at the bow and stern. the switch on the throttle works but only when I'm coming out of the hole to plain out. I've looked on several sites but could not find one maybe I was lokking under the wrong name for this. I have an '84 merc. 150.
  2. It might seem like a little overkill but I use marine grade silicone and go over all seams on the lights and any other splices you might have. As always disconnect your lights
  3. Sorry to hear about your father. You need to get that boat to home, there's no better way to remember your father than spending it with him every time you go fishing. You should be fine pulling the boat. I'm pulling a 18' Ranger w/ an '95 4 cyclinder 5 speed w/148,000. The hills kill me and the highway's are a joke no more than 60 mph. If you pull it back make sure you give yourself a little more time than you expect it to take. AAA is always a good thing to have.
  4. I've also had no problem with the HD/Lowes carpet in my Ranger I've had it installed for two years I guess time will tell. No problem with snagging or fraying just take your time and don't skimp on the glue.
  5. A few months sho while driving home at night, I was pulled over for my trailer lights not working. I told the city officer that they worked fine when I lift the marina, went back looked at the lights pluged in and not working . I told him probably a short some where, I guess he wasnt a boat owner. So four miles and one ticket later I ran into him at a gas station giggled the connector and the lights came on. I waited till he walked out of the store and showed him they worked. He took the tickets from me and said have a nice night.
  6. Monday-Friday stay at home dad w/ my 2.5 yr son. Weekends I'm an EMT in our local emergency room.
  7. Have you tried Ebay? I bet you'll find it there.
  8. I had the same problem last year w/ my '84 merc. 150. Next time your on the lake try to look if it's the line or guage. If it's the line and you have enough cut off the section and put back on, or run a new line from the motor. Guage just replace it. lol
  9. You've got it. I concure Roostertails are a must, I'vehad more luck with them than anything else. Small beetele spins. in desprate times I've used large dry flys and let them float down stream. they seem to work good in small streams. LOL
  10. Sharp looking boat! I have an '84 Ranger 350-v with a 150 Merc. same color and everything, I'm the second owner and the previuos pamperd the boat. I paid 3k for it, without taking it for a spin on the lake. I lucked out it runs like a champ. Get it checked out! You might not be that lucky.
  11. Just before the tail fin starts, there's meat all the way to the fin. A nice 4" fillet knife is a must. My filleting skills are improving I usually scale the fish and leave the skin on.
  12. I use the hand rule, anything that is as big as my hand hits the pan. If you have a large hand congrat's. I usually do not keep anything under 5". If I'm desperate anything goes.
  13. I wonder how many sausage biscuits that would make?
  14. ouch! I feel it that every time I'm at the pump and it's usually when I have to fill up the boat and truck, and the gas compines won't even include a bottle of KY.
  15. Go with what you can afford. I've got a 17'Ranger and I'm pulling it with a 40 lb. Minnkota Edge a little slow on your more windy days, but it was all I could afford at the time. You should be good with 55-65 foot lbs.
  16. Congrats!! Nothing like having your own boat new or used. I'm sure you will have no problem putting it to use. It looks very similar to my '84 Ranger. Enjoy!
  17. You might try about two-2.5 feet up the line. I went yesterday using the same set , and one with just a hook with minnow, while drifting in the rain.i killed the crappie, besides some aversage size, We nailed 8 14-15" er's. Nice and meaty. Good luck! Hope they bite for ya.
  18. Sweet ride man! I know how your feeling, I just hope that's an old photo. You need to get rid of that white stuff on the ground. Congrat's!!!!
  19. if your talking about cracks in the aluminum(sp?) try using JB weld, I heard that it works really well.
  20. If you have a water pressure guage I would investigate that first. I had the same problem last year.
  21. The GM in Greensboro, NC is already selling Tracker and Stratos in our store.
  22. You sure can! look anywhere and everywhere. I bought an 1984 Ranger w/ a 150 merc. runs Awsome I bought it for 3k from the origianl owner. I replaced the tm after a year nothing wrong with it just old had some spare cash. I just replaced the carpet 75. home depot, replaced all the hoses and bilge, live well pumps. probably 500. on extra's which I didint need to do but wanted to. Just look and take your time try looking online at Craiglist.com in your area. There are gems in the rough out there.
  23. I'm fairley close to your truck I'm towing an 17'6" Ranger with a '95 Ford Ranger 4 cyc. automatic with a 141,000 on it and SLOOOW's way down going up hills, and on the highway forgett it wont do more than 60mph. Luckley lakes are close by. Wally-world or the auto store is where I got mine frame mounted hitch took about 45 minutes to saved some cash and did it myself.
  24. Used is the way to go. Last summer I bought an '17' 84 Ranger 350v w/ a 150 merc. black maxx.for 3000. from the origianl owner looks almost new. bought a new tm. just put new carpet in last week. The merc. smokes alittle on the first start up but she screams on the water. Save yourself some cash. A new boat will not get you more and bigger fish it just cost more. Guys with new boats and BIG motors are trying to compensate for something they are lacking. ;D
  25. Try Overtons, or iboats.com, I've bought alot of stuff from them and have never had a problem or delay.
