  1. I also have a set on my 17'Ranger w/150 Merc. and it was some of the best money that I ever spent for the same reasons listed above. I would recommend get a pair.
  2. I have a 1984 Merc. 150 and it has oil injection. It has an oil tank that holds about 1.5 gallons of oil. plus a res. that holds maybe 24oz I'm guessing.
  3. I've taken my seats for a '84 Ranger the one's that have the side arm rest to several shops around the town and was quoted at about 600. and a back yard shop guy said 400. The seats are seperate and the bottum one lifts up storage. They needed to be done two years ago and I'm still looking.
  4. I going to try and decarb my motor with Deep Creep in the next day or so. I'm going to do this with the muffs on and I'm alittle hesitant about it for the fear of buring something up. Should I have a steady stream of water coming out of the pee hole and if I dont would that mean not enough water?I tried doing this last year but I got scared and bailed.any other suggestions on using this product? If it makes any difference I have an '84 150 Merc.

No kidding! I've lost several bids from people doing this and nothing ticks me off more. Yep there went my boat seats, hope the person enjoyes them.
  6. Welcome to the site lot's of info. I'm here in Greensboro.
  7. I'll meet you at the boat ramp.
  8. Am I missing something here. :-? I think it might be a woman. My wife can pull MY Ranger as good as anybody and through in a screaming three year old. You should have no problem. If you dont have a tranny cooler might want to pick one up.
  9. Thanks! That's just what I was thinking.
  10. I've glued and layed the carpet on my bottum bunks, when I realized that I did not drill holes for the bolts. Suggestions on what I should do? Remove carpet and drill holes or just measure and drill through the carpet? and do some type of patch work over the holes or leave open and fill with marine grade epoxy over counter sunk holes?
  11. Welcome Steve! I'm here in Greensboro and I havent made to belews yet. I know theres some great fishing on the creek. During this time of year I mainly fish the city lakes due to time restraints. Not to take away a member from BR but you should try NCangler.com you will find more indepth info on the lakes that surround NC. Stay intouch once summer hits and my wife is done teaching and my son is out of school (she owes me big time) I will be hitting more lakes maybe we can hook up. Weekends are out since I work only weekends. Tightlines Keith.
  12. del, the 3m glue at the Home Depot/lowes works great and lastest. Make sure the carpet fibers are running the same way throughout the boat. When it comes to the edges like your storage boxes livewells, i would recommend using liquid nails in those areas it's stronger than the glue. Let the glue get a little tacky before appling carpet to the edges. Depending on the temp. outside glue set time might take a little longer in cold temps. Above all TAKE YOUR TIME! A rushed job will show.
  13. There are alot of streams through out the mountains. I've caught a few up around Table Rock in the Pisgah Nat. Forst. Try NCAngler.com they have a forum for fishing up in the mountins.
  14. Sorry I'm in NC if you don't get any replys here and are still looking to hook up w/ someone try NCAngler.com alot of folks post there from SC. You might beable to find someone to get you out on the water.
  15. I also replaced the tm on my '84 Ranger, I think it was a MG and bought a MK Edge the holes fit perfect. I just forgot to put the base back on, and it still setting in my shed.
  16. I've heard both stories, I keep it about 1/2 full and stableizer to it and have never had a problem the next year. You also want to get the fuel and water out of any lines you might have. The idea is to keep it full to help prevent condensation build up. I always fogg mine around Jan-feb. depending on how the weather looks for a couple of months. NC has year round fishing most of the time. Key word winterizing on this site for more tips.
  17. Follow everone's advice! I took a crap shot and bouhgt an old school '84 Ranger 350-v , w/ a 150 merc maxx ,about 2 years ago w/ out taking in on the water. You might not get as lucky as I did. Runs like a champ. Original owner that's somebody's grandpa had it stored in a heated garage for the winters. Updated the tm, gauges etc. If the boat checks out get it. Ranger's, were built to last 8 8-)
  18. I know the feeling of not wanting to drive the boat on the trailer with the big guy,but you should get comfortable with it. I usually leave about two feet on the trailer and hand cranck the rest of the way up.and snuggg it .It might be time for a new winch, or the locking do-hickey thing is bad. still not sure get a new one. A bounching boat is not good, and a winch that fails on the raod is worse.
  19. Last year I replaced the original Tm that came w/ an '84 Ranger, Minn Kota maybe and it was still running good, not for a 17'. I was still able to sell it for bow mount on a 14'jonny. $40. Both MK and Mg are quality motors, get the foot lbs you want and keep the rest simple. You'll avoid the brain strain.
  20. Heading out soon to pickup 3 float chargers for the bat's. Wondering will all three chargers works on a power strip placed in my boat, any certain size I need or strenght, and will any outdoor extention cord work? I know when I use the power saw, sometimes the cord gets fairley warm. I'm assuming the watts used at a cont. rate are vary minimal and my electric bill should not change much. Thanks as usual for everyone's input.
  21. Like the other replys it is slow going, I'm pulling a 17' Ranger w/150 hp in my '95 Ford Ranger 4 "banger" 5 speed 2 wheel drive with a 150,000 miles. If your not in a hurry to get there you will be fine. I don't venture to far from home mostly with in 30 mile radius. Hills you can forget it, I can't do more than 55 on the hway. farless slower going up hill.
  22. Hmmm, you could try the bolt with some silicone might just work. You might want to take a look at JB weld HD/Lowes, comes in a tube smear it on and holds tight. Of course I used it on my gutters on the house, it works the seams don't leak anymore. Anything you try I would'nt take it off the trailer until your sure she's leak proof. Best of Luck.
  23. ....."but it seems so simple that I thought I could do it myself." Yea right . How many times have I said the exact same thing. If you don't have a light tester get one and start from the truck tail light and work your way down the wire to the trailer tail light. You should find the short. Good Luck.
  24. Sweet ride! 2800. you cant beat that, plus some $$$ left over. Looks like it's great condition, is that a bimi top on it?. Fun in the sun and shade. Congrats enjoy your new ride.
