Crankbait snaps?
For those of you who use snaps, how many actually remove the split rings?

Avid or Loomis crankbait rod
I want a rod for small to medium crankbaits and I am trying to decide between the Avid AVC70MM or the Loomis CBR843C. Has anyone used both? It seems the Avid should be a little softer since the Loomis has a moderate fast taper and the Avid is moderate. How do they compare when on the water? Rod will be paired with a Steez.

Yo-Zuri
So for you guys that use regular instead of ultra soft on baitcasters - why?

Yo-Zuri
For small and medium crankbaits on a baitcast setup, is regular Yo-Zuri or Ultra Soft best?

Chronarch Mg and Aldebaran
I recently got a MBR842 glx and put my 51Mg spooled with yellow sufix 15lb braid on it for weightless senkos. The monkey was still on my back because that meant I had a rod without a reel on it so I ordered an Aldebaran Mg7. When I get it I have a decision to make - leave the chronarch on the senko rod or put the Bob on it. I think the best use for the other is on a M Kistler LTA to use as an all purpose light caster with 10lb PP. My other option is to put it on a MH APC LTA with 20lb sufix that I use for 1/4 oz bullet weighted plastics. Is there enough of a difference between the CH and the Bob to make the best solution obvious, or is this going to be a try them and see what I like situation?

Shimano brakes
I thought there was a difference between the red and clear. According to that they are the same. Can they be mixed, or does the reel need all of the same weight for balalnce?
-
Shimano brakes
I know that the different color pins have different effects on the brakes and that some of you mix them to fine tune performance. Can someone explain how they work compared to each other?

Line strength
Since the different brands of braid seem to have higher breaking points than the line test would indicate, someone posted the actual breaking points of a number of brands in a post a while back. I can't find that post - can someone tell me where it is?

Loomis and St. Croix
Are the characteristics and actions of the St. Croix Legend Elite and Extreme blanks comparable to the Loomis GLX BCR blanks in similar powers?

G. Loomis Kicks It Up A Notch!
Does anyone know if this is going to replace these, or be an addition to the line?

Culling my rods
Since my original post I have given this a lot of thought. I don't throw crankbaits often, but I think it is because I don't like using the BPS crankin sticks as much as my other rods. I seem to have a worm rod in my hand more than anything else, so I am going to upgrade the Kistler He69mc I use for that to a GLX BCR802 or 852. The Kistler will be moved to a crankbait rod for now. (I already have one He69mc rigged as a hard jerkbait setup so I know what to expect.) If having the Kistler there gets me to use cranks more I can always change to a more appropriate CB rod if I want. Thanks for all of the responses. I have a 51mg I can put on the BCR. Anything more appropriate out there? I will be throwing 3" to 5" weightless senkos most of the time.

1000 or 2500
I went through this same thing a year ago. I was late to the party on the MGFB clearance and only the 1000 size was available. I use mostly Shimano reels, but for this application (M rod in river for grubs and tubes) I went to a Daiwa reel so I could get a 2000 size. If you want to stay with Shimano go 2500.

Culling my rods
I have a number of Kistler LTAs that I use for weightless plastics, jigs, jerkbaits, and plastics with 1/4 oz bullet weights. In general I am happy with those rods. I also have other rods for spinnerbaits, frogs, and flipping that are not part of this discussion. I also have some of the older BPS crankin sticks that I use for topwater and cranks. While I like the way they work with a fish on I feel like I am swinging a broomstick with them compared to the Kistlers. I want to get a better rod for the cranks. Would I be better off getting a higher end rod for that application, or would I get more return by upgrading the sensitivity on the plastics/jig rods, and using one of those for the cranks where sensitivity isn't as important? I could get something like a Loomis CBR for the cranks, or a Loomis BCR for the jigs or senkos and use a Kistler for the cranks. I'm not stuck on the Loomis; the same concept would apply to any brand. Just using that as an example.

Falcon boxes
You can't put spinner baits in the buzz bait holders and vice versa. The holders are completely different. Later, This is why I asked::

Falcon boxes
Since I haven't had either the 701 or 703 in my hands to see how the compartments are made, can someone explain why buzzbaits will work in the spinnerbait compartments, but spinnerbaits won't work in the buzzbait compartments?
-
Falcon boxes
Can we go back to my original question - will spinnerbaits work in the buzzbait compartments on the buzzbait/spinnerbait combo (703).
-
Falcon boxes
Do Buzzbaits work on that also?
-
Falcon boxes
I should have been more specific. I am trying to decide between the 701 and 703.
-
Falcon boxes
I am looking at getting either the spinnerbait box or the spinnerbait/buzzbait combo. I only have a few buzzbaits; can the buzzbait compartments on the combo hold spinnerbaits?

Certate Parts
I took your suggestion and called Daiwa. They are sending one out no charge.
-
Certate Parts
No, Tackle Warehouse.
-
Certate Parts
Yes it is a part number and I do have the phone number to call and order one. I was hoping someone would make a post like "contact so-and-so at Daiwa and they will send you one" since it is a new reel and the screw was not installed tight enough.

Certate Parts
I was using my new Certate 2000 for the second time and the handle screw (G46-9401) came off and fell into the lake. How can I get a replacement?

Finding Bass
I dug this thread up to say thank you to all who contributed. Last summer I had my best season since I got back into fishing after following the advice given here. Rarely did I get skunked. I am not about to say I have all of the answers but at least I have a better strategy now. This year I want to build on that knowledge. My next challenge is to find fish on water that I am not as familiar with and that have a different profile. Within driving distance are lakes that were built as reservoirs and are much deeper. I think I know enough now about seasonal patterns to find some likely spots, and I will try what has been suggested here to search.

Ghost and chrome
Many hardbaits have regular paint jobs, and then have ghost and chrome patterns that are similar. What conditions do those work best in?
