Got it. If you are going to twitch it back fast, should a regular hook be used instead of a circle hook?

Do any of you nose hook them with a circle hook when you are in open water, or does the t-rig make them flutter better??
  3. I got to the the store yesterday and I am glad I did - they only had one large in any color. (And only one medium.) I guess they don't want to sell many during the sale. I had looked at them on the hangers before but had never tried them on. The leg zips really make getting the bibs on easy! The fly zip makes so much sense I can't believe others don't use it. As soon as I got the jacket on I could tell there was no comparison to the Columbia jacket if the purpose was to stay dry. The only thing I still have a question about is the hood. The fact that it is not detachable is what had kept me from buying it before. After I put the jacket on I can see how necessary that arrangement is for keeping you dry so I sucked it up and bought it anyway. Is there any trick to getting it to lay flat when not using it?
  4. I am definatley going to pick up the PQ bibs during the sale, but I am still undecided on the jacket. I have a Columbia 3-in-1 with their Omni-Tech, but I have never been out in the rain with it so I don't know if it will be good enough. I have a concern that it will leak around the zippers. When I look at the PQ jacket the upper chest pockets don't have a storm flap either - will they leak? Can anyone tell me how much of a step up the PQ jacket is to the Columbia?
  5. The deal on the Pro Qualifier Rain Gear is enough for me to pull the trigger. $50 off = 28% (+ double points tomorrow).
  6. I went through this a couple of years ago and wound up getting the Plano Airliner. I went to BPS and played around with what they had and thought that model opened and closed the easiest. I also liked the fact that when sitting in the garage it collapses and take up less space. Keep in mind that it might be opened by the airline to check what is inside. Put your rods on the floor and alternate them so the handle of one is next to the rod tip of another. Try to have the guides facing in. Then put some stretch wrap or something similar around them to keep them together and put that in the case. You can wrap bubble wrap around them if you have it for even more protection. If you get the Airliner make sure it slides easily so the inspectors have no trouble with it and try to make it so they can easily get it back to the correct length. I mark mine with duct tape.
  7. Well, I guess I got lucky. I had a 20% off coupon last weekend and was thinking about using it on PQ rainwear. The deal on those for the classic is better than that. Thanks for posting the pics.
  8. I have a 7'6" MH Clarus with a EF taper that I don't use much at all. I was thinking about setting it up to throw ribbits and other soft frogs. Any thoughts on how this will work?
  9. I have been thinking about getting a Tilley Airflo hat. I keep getting hung-up on the fabric. It doesn't seem like a breathable material, so how can it get good reviews for being cool in hot weather?
  10. Thanks for the input. The fact that the 6.3:1 is the most versatile is why I have them. I thought it was time to try something different, especially since these applications have some advocates to using the different gears. I have a tendency to simplify. I remember reading the posts about IPT and gears. Thanks for the reminder.
  11. All of my baitcasters are 6.3:1. I need another reel and want to get either a slow reel for cranking or a burner for flipping and frogs/toads. I have read many posts on the virtues of the different speeds for those applications, but I still can't make up my mind which way I want to go. Whatever I decide, the other application will get a Curado 101D with 6.3:1. I won't be using either of them much, so I need to decide and just go with it. Which one will have the bigger impact?
  12. OK. That is the one I was looking at. Is the 30" handle all you need for a bass boat?
  13. I want to have a net on the boat this year. What does everyone use? Is it best to get flat bottom or teardrop? Fixed or telescopic?
  14. Thanks, that does help. I am looking for a reel to put on a 7'6" MH flipping rod, but I will probably throw ribbit type baits with it most often. The Accurist is different than the other reels I have so it is on my list. Any idea how it compares to the BPS Pro Qualifier?
  15. ghost - I saw your post in the Catalyst thread that you had one of these. Rather than hijack that thread I bumped this up.
  16. When is it best to use the green vs. clear?
  17. I still have not been able to handle one. Anybody?
  18. Has anyone seen or used the new accurist? They have brought it back at a lower price point, but you can still get the older models NIB for $50 to $60. Catching the new one on sale you are looking at $80. Specs say it is lighter; did they cut corners anyplace, or just got more realistic with the pricing?
  19. I own this one http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44292_100004002_100000000_100004000_100-4-2. It works well; I think any of the ones made for this will work well. It comes down to how many rods you want to carry and how long they are. Pay attention to the specs and pick what appeals to you in the way of latches and such. Keep in mind that the airlines may open it to check what is inside. Don't make the padding so complicated that they can't get it back together quickly.
  20. I had been using a regular nail clipper for mono and fluoro that I put on a lanyard around my neck so it was always handy. I then used a pocket knife to cut braid. My last trip out I lost the lanyard and clippers. Since I want to replace it I thought I would ask here what everyone uses. Is there something I can hang around my neck that will cut mono, fluoro, and braid?
  21. Maybe this is a translation problem, but the way I read it is that although there are six colors, there are only two weights - heavy and light. Is that correct?
  22. I tried the Alberto. I don't know what I did wrong, but it cost me a slender pointer. Since it made a nice small knot I am going to use it on my tube rod until I am confident I am tying it correctly.
  23. Is there any reason why you wouldn't use ultra soft on both spinning and baitcasting?
  24. I know what the difference is between regular and ultrasoft, but I am still not clear when to use them. Can someone clear that up?
  25. Yes. I just meant I find the Revo to be very touchy in it's settings.
