The Weirdest Thing?
A snapping turtle on a white jig. A sunperch on a buzzbait. A catfish on a senko, a crappie on a crankbait (this one may be normal, not sure).

max depth you'll fish for bass
0-25-ish I am good to go. I've never had to try anything deeper.

How it all started
Mine started with my best friend, and then later my younger brother, when he was old enough to go. My buddy had a pond on his property, and we would catch bluegills all day. I can't remember when I started reading bass, or how to fish for bass, but we found bass in the pond too. Behind my house growing up, my friend, brother, and I all fished the lake and rode motorcycles etc. It's all been downhill from this. I have a bass addiction that most can't understand ;D

Your thoughts of 2006......
Good year here as well. Worked alot more on pitching, got close to a D.D. bass, got numerous 5's and 6's, and I am working harder on getting the boat I want. Taught a buddy how to fish.........yeah great year, and I am not quitting until it's too cold to feel my face.
- alas!!! FREEEEEDOM!

Do you fish everyday??
I said no only because of one thing....fall's sun setting earlier. I get off work at 6pm by the time I do go fishing it's dark 25 minutes later, and it takes me 10 to get to the local ponds I hit. Now during the spring/summer, everyday after work I fish for a while, and the weekends well I probably fish too much. This saturday I am going back to Broken Bow for some smallies, and then the very next weekend (the 5th of nov.) I will be at Fork for hopefully a couple of donkeys. So this week has been to slow for me, last weekend I was on call, so only went for a couple of hours Sunday, but these next two weekends 8-) :-X

Cold Weather Gear Thread Again
I am still trying to figure out what I want. It's insane all the different brands/types/etc I think I want the BPS gore-tex bibs, some boots/shoes that wick away moisture to keep my feet warm and dry, and a BPS gore-tex jacket. I can then wear my fleece pull-over under my jacket, and normal pants under my bibs. As for my hands, well I guess the old warmer packs will have to do. I have my head and face covered. Any thoughts on this idea? Will my pants hinder the gore-tex wicking capabilities?

Will Cali Get-R-Done in 2007?
It will happen this year somewhere I believe.

The Current BR Poll on the Home Page

Cold Weather Gear Thread Again
Yes keep the posts coming. LBH, this makes sense actually. So RW, LBH if I were to buy sorel boots ( I need some good boots anyways) and wear my red head socks, will I still have the sweat/cold feet problem??? LBH, in your last video I saw what looked like under armor you were wearing....was this north face too? Speaking of, does U.A. keep you warm because it's 'hugging' your skin??? Those things look thin to me........remember guys I am SKINNY lol Keep the knowledge coming please!

Cold Weather Gear Thread Again
Ok, it's that time of the year again....today we will top out highs 50+. Old man winter can't keep me from fishing, but I would really like to stay a little warmer this year. Let's recommend COLD windy clothing wear for those who fish in the winter. Is the Red Head E.C.W.C.S. shirt and long jons good? I personally don't get that cold body wise, but my extremities always get so cold that I can't feel a thing. So warm gloves that have the ends cut out, might be helpful to mention too. Last year I used the packet hand warmers in a fleece pull-over, then a jacket over that. My face was covered by the balaklavas (or however they are pronounced/spelled lol.) I then put a hat on over this. My feet were covered by red heads extreme cold socks, and they work well, but somehow my feet after an hour or so, would get cold....I guess my red wings let air in???? So let's recommend from feet to head. I also am skinny, so keep other people's sizes in mind. I know others who never get cold outdoors, they are also alot bigger than I am.

Not For The Weak Of Mind
Fin/gang.....what do you think about my recent post on the "key" variables? I feel (and of course it's only an opinion....kind of like a$$h0les.....the old saying) this covers every type of known body of water, so from this, we can interject thoughts and the main other factors (such as their carnal DNA imprint to feed. the lure's noise/shape/weight) Etc..... I really want this to turn into an awesome knowledge tool, more over, suggestions of throw this because I catch fish on it all year.....or something along that lines. I like where this is going is my point. Post on Lads!

Not For The Weak Of Mind
I took Fin at face value, and just wanted to make sure others would not be 'scared' to add.....knowledge is power in the end. No harm no foul Keithscatch or Fin etc.

fish see better in cold water!?!
This actually makes sense. You can still goad fish into eating, you just have to fish A LOT slower.

Not For The Weak Of Mind
Major influences (my view) : Wind and direction of wind Water Temp Sun/moon phase Cloud cover (and the lack thereof) Thermocline (specifically where it is depth wise) Barometric Pressure (general ranges are okay i.e. 30-40) Sunrise/Sunset time (goes with sun direction too, since it's time of the year) Water Clarity (can be broken up several times or general rules 3-10' visibility=clear etc) Forage of body of water Type of lake (man made or natural) Structure changes of said B.O.W. Cover/no cover From here, this can cover every type of B.O.W. (body of water.) Now the hard part begins.....

Thanks for the paragraphs too

Not For The Weak Of Mind
Familiar with both....yes different for certain. We have lakes that also are 'vastly' different comparison wise. Dripping Springs is mainly wood and wind, and 'stained' water, where as Skiatook is gem clear, rocky, and full of both smallies/spots/and largemouth (large not so good as it once was however.) I will continue to add my two lincolns on this subject, because while fascinating and mind probing, it's tough to nail anything down, but I can see this huge study come full turn and be helpful....even if seasonal. I haven't seen any consideration for spooky fish or noise related variables, in relation to being a negative influence. I can assure you, in our 'clearer' lakes, noise is a huge factor at certain times of the year, or even the day sometimes. So would we then tell people to not use rattles or fish close? Definitely not I say....

How long do you wait
If I am not on time for work, or anything other for that matter, it 'ruins' my day. I like the minute rule, but 15 is probably better........things happen, and without coming across to friends and family as a militant on time management. lol

Not For The Weak Of Mind
Fin I would love to help you in this endeavour. I live in N.E. OK. around Skiatook....where are these two bodies of water you are referring too? The title of this thread (albiet off topic slightly) implies slight 'arrogance' by the way it's worded. I also believe though in there has to be some natural law working in wild animals, but governed 100% by this?......perhaps not. I am going to go back and re-read all the posts. I seriously would love to help out in data collection, fishing experiments, lure selections that seem to work in my part of the state, etc. etc. Oh and yes, please paragraphs people!!!

Fish in Transition?
It's on right now too We went saturday, and found them sitting right by grass banks, but there was always 'deeper' water nearby. the wind was blowing shad into the bank, and they would come up and murder them. we stop counting how many we caught, and caught 3 3lber's by 2pm using trixie shads and dominators in bad shad colors.

Early morning cold fall fishin'
Yes and no. Yes now, since (at least here) water temps are still 70 in the early morning, and they use the element of surprise by the low light conditions. No, when it's winter, and the water is colder, than it would be after warming a tad by days end.

What is dead sticking
Also Murphy talked about sort of dead sticking, but it's called stitching. It also works VERY well, for a couple of reasons........one 95% of bass fisherman, will not take the time to stitch or dead stick, two, it's a different presentation than bass are normally use to seeing, and three bass will absolutely find the bait and eat it since they are gluttenous animals
