Crazy is driving 7 hrs. round trip, and fishing hard for 12 hrs. to only catch 3, 12 inch bass' all the while positive I'm going to catch my PB. I lost two very large bass this year wrapped on flooded barbed wire fences. Barbed wire is murderous to fishing line, and the bass know it. First bass I talked softly, wile begging the bass to to untangle itself. The second bass I swore like a sailor. Both methods didn't work and they broke off taking the hot lure for the day with them. I plan on praying the next time it happens. Maybe a higher power will intervene with more fishing skill than I have. I will post if this method is successful.

My wife saw me receive a package from Amazon. I opened it and her comment was oh, more new fishing junk. I informed her that 7 inch Senkos in Junebug were not only not junk, but becoming rare, also I wasn't really not buying new lures, because I was simply replacing the ones the little bass tore up on my last trip. She then asked why I use them if little bass are just going to rip them apart. My reply was because they were also catching big bass and I almost ran out of them, so I had to order extra over the amount I lost because I never wanted to have to worry about running out ever again. She had two questions to that answer. Number one. Do you ever worry about running out of money, or just fishing tackle? Number two. If they are the only lure that will catch the big bass, than why do I have so many other lures? She then pointed at all my other baits and in her no it all voice said, if I ran out of the Senko's, and was such a poor fisherman I couldn't catch a big bass with all the other junk sitting in the corner, than why don't I just come home and do some work around the house. Short answer. Yes they are goofy.

Diawa lists the line capacityof a Fuego CT at 105 yards with 40 pound J Braid. Can you cast a frog over 100 yards? I have heard others say they can spool a Fuego on a long cast with 40 lbs. braid, so I tend to believe Diawa might be over optimistic on the line capacity of a Fuego.

Clear fluorocarbon is the least visible line, pink floro comes in second by a hair. Clear, pink, light green, or light blue mono comes in third. As far as braid goes, white is the least visible if looking up, and slightly darker colors if looking down. Black or very dark green, is more visible looking up or down. The difference in visibility between the same size floro and mono is minimal, but there is a difference. Braid stands out significantly more. I tested many colors and sizes of all three types of line in a swimming pool. The water was gin clear, results may differ if in stained water. Also there were no aquatic weeds or other cover that might make a darker color such as black camouflage in to the back ground. I simply took pictures of the lines either above me while I was at the bottom of the pool, or from above with lines on the bottom. It was mid day, clear and sunny, so tests may differ, in low light, or with cloud cover. I was testing for saltwater applications, and was not surprised at all by the results. I haven't bass fished anywhere I thought line visibility would make a difference, visibility is not a factor I consider when picking a line for bass fishing. I haven't bass fished everywhere, so I wont say it couldn't or isn't a major factor for some one else fishing someplace I haven't, or with a technique I don't use.

Aggressive bass fishing baits are the ones that I come home with when my wife sends me to Walmart to buy groceries and some how a bass lure jumps in my cart.

It depends on three variables. What is the visibility the bass are accustomed to, the degree of stain and what is the main forage. If the bass are used to 20 foot visibility, and now it is four than they will react differently than if the vis. is always 4 foot. If the bass are used to feeding on open water bait schools and the visibility drops to 2 foot, than they may have to change their diet, which in turn makes the bass change their location. If the vis. is always the same, than the forage will remain the same. My best big bass lake has 1.5 foot of visibility October - mid July. The water temp. only varies a few degrees during this time, and all lures are on the table. Top water works best, until the water level drops and the bass are forced it to deeper water, and crankbaits take over the top spot. When the rain comes the water visibility goes to less than a foot. The first couple weeks with this poor visibility the fish move close to cover, and all moving baits quit working. I have to pitch jigs, and plastics right in their face and work slowly. Not my strength, but my only other choice is to stay home. Once the fish get used to the poor visibility the top water bite starts to work again, especially buzz baits, and popping frogs, as well as spinnerbaits, square bills, and swimbaits. This pattern works for the remainder of rainy season. Another lake I fish the visibility is always less than a foot, and the bass there are caught all year everywhere with everything. From rocks, to punching mats, and even out in the open chasing bait. I prefer two to 6 foot of vis for bass fishing. This visibility gives me the most options with location and gear. Less than two foot, and I may have to slow down, more than 6 foot, and I may have to lean toward finesse techniques. That is only what I prefer. The bass don't have a preference, and will manage to find something to eat in 2 inch vis, to 30 foot visibility without any problems.

I have never had a bass swallow a Ned rig. I have never fished a Ned rig, which I assume is the reason it hasn't happened. I have gut hooked bass on every lure I have fished for them with. It is rare, but does happen. I don't get to worried about it. Most of the fish I catch, the worst thing that happens is the bass has to admit to their friends and family, that they were dumb enough to get hooked by me. Some may lie, and say they were caught by KVD I don't know. If they are not going to survive I eat them. Simple as that.

Where you are going is on the road system, so don't expect solitude. The good fishing spots accessible by car are usually crowded. The fishing for silver salmon and halibut should be good. Silver salmon are aggressive, and will hit a variety of spinners and spoons. Pink is by far the best color, with Chartreuse coming in second. If the Salmon have seen their share of lures, than cured salmon eggs will be your best bet to catch them. Bring good rain gear insect repellant and your camera. While in Homer, stop at the Salty Dog for a burger and beer.

You could land Jaws with 15 pounds of drag. 8 pounds is more than enough for any bass, or bass fishing technique.

I have tried almost every braid made and haven't found one that is far superior. That said, I prefer Diawa J 8 in the grey color. I like it for it's over all performance and price.
