I like how he mocks other golfers' sense of "proper"

I love John Daly, he doesn't give a crap. He is who he is.

I'd say ignorant and addict are better descriptions. That's absurd.

It's a common theme among celebrities but don't hurt me none.

Michael Jordan is another high flying gambler. Lol

Of course it doesn't hurt us peasants any, and when the news is covering another drug overdose it doesn't hurt us who are watching any. But nobody can say, "wow, that's great" or "wow, that's wonderful" or "that's totally normal." I don't care if these people lose it all, but they're still absurd addicts who need help, not applause or endearing terms like haha "savage." There's nothing great about this. I'll still sleep tonight, of course.

You called him ignorant and an addict and now you're suggesting that anything positive about him should be ignored because he has problems. You have what's called "glass house syndrome".  We all have issues.  We are all sinners.  I can appreciate him because, while he has many problems, he walks his own way without giving in to societal pressure to conform.  You're right, he shouldn't gamble away all of his money, but he has plenty of positive attributes.  How about you just let us celebrate some of them?

If you really want to have a discussion about this topic then lets talk about Bill Cosby or Michael Jackson.  Cosby is a serial rapist that brought joy to millions.  Jackson was a pedophile that was created by a tyrannical father that stunted his emotional growth.  There's no way he COULDN'T have become a sexual offender, yet he was an incredibly gifted artist that also brought joy and pleasure to millions across the globe.  Do we forget their contributions?  Do we forgive their sins?  We all know what God expects us to do, but we all suffer from arrogance and self-rightousness.

Anyway, how's the fishing lately?

Actually I only addressed the gambling addiction part and anything else you got from that is your own making.

I like him because he provides entertainment in the realm of golf.  His behavior reminds me of the movie Happy Gilmore.  Golf could use more characters like him. He actually has his own very successful line of golf clothing called Loudmouth Golf.

I was at a PGA event once at Whistling Straits near Sheboygan, WI on Lake Michigan and his group came through.  He air mailed one on a par 3 right into Lake Michigan and then hurled his club into the lake too.  Someone went in there after it, retrieved it, and offered it back to him.  He said "keep it" and then signed a golf ball for that fan.

I thought you were going to say Caddyshack.

I recently read (on the internet) that his highest net worth was around 25 million. His current worth is around 2 million. It was suggested that he lost more to divorce (3 of them, if i remember correctly) than he did gambling. This came from a Google search so it could be totally inaccurate, but it sounds like a large chunk of that 50 million was house money.

Commentator:  "John, I thought you quit drinking?"

John:  "Wine and beer don't count".

I will say he's entertaining in the same way this guy is..... not sure it's good for professional golf though.

Lost all respect for him when he was caught,  drunk hitting golf balls down a highway.  He could of killed someone just to win a bet.

They are building a top golf right next to interstate 40 in Knoxville, I don’t think that’s much of a concern. I used to rent a condo on a golf course, the balls bounced right off my truck

There's a Top Golf in Noblesville Indiana that's right next to Interstate 69. The fence around it is so high, there's no way a ball can be hit over it.

When it comes to Daly, he was standing on the edge of a hill hitting the balls between cars going down a major highway and then over the highway towards a football field.  This was from I think his second time doing this.

Well like I said they bounce right off a vehicle, mine included. I’ve also had a kid throw a softball from a pitching machine out of a school bus that hit my windshield when I was traveling the opposite direction on a two lane double yellow line road, completely shattered it. That kid could be a junkie in jail, could be an elected official by now, who knows. Seems more dangerous to me to line the fairways with spectators

also if you can’t get respect after doing dumb stuff, well then I’m Rodney dangerfield. “I can’t get no respect”

There is only three things I want to know about golf.  Does the golf course pond have bass, how big are the bass, and how can I get access to fish there.
