Let me get this straight. Are you trying to perform a market survey of Jon boat owners (who are mostly budget constrained) for an unproven product that the potential buyers know absolutely nothing about? And then, you want to know how much they would pay for the unproven product that they know nothing about? Why don't you try this approach? Get a patent for this new product. Determine how much it will cost you to manufacture the product, then add on the profit you would want to make, before taxes. Then try test marketing it at the price you need. For example, you may want to come back to this board in a few months as an advertiser, touting your new great product for only Eleventeen Dollars. ;D

You folks who have never been to Cajun Country have to give these guys a little slack. They grew up in a part of the USA where the predominate language is/was French. It's a strong possibility that their grandparents spoke French only. Because of this, and a lack of education, these folks have a very strong accent. If you can get beyond the accent, you will find that these people aren't near as dumb as you think they are, and you will find that they are some of the most friendly people on the planet. I know. I grew up down there, and would proudly want to call myself a Cajun. Alas, it's not to be. I was an immigrant from Arkansas and have no Cajun heritage. You are either a Cajun or you are not.

Pantherdev, with all due respect, some of us cannot afford all of the toys that you have, so we cannot afford to ignore the maintenance, as you do, on the few toys that we have. Jack (fishfordollars) is a personal friend of mine. Speaking in his defense, he has only one boat and one tow vehicle. He uses them both as a licensed fishing guide and to fish tournaments. Jack is not poor my any means, but the boat and tow vehicle help to make a bit of additional income for him. If you were depending upon your boat, motor, trailer and tow vehicle to put money in your pocket, wouldn't you be a little obsessive about the maintenance of those items?

Way2Slow, I don't know if it was a leakage problem, but my transducer failed recently. It took three weeks for the repair shop to replace it. It seems that Minn Kota didn't have any transducers in stock. Now I know why. It looks like I'll be placing a bead of silicone around the cover plate of the transducer. I confess that I've never tried to use the foot pedal. I prefer to use the remote and the auto-pilot feature.

I have two Patriarchs and a President. I love them. I also have two BPS Extremes and love them almost as much. The one thing they all have in common is the dual breaking system. When doing an annual break-down and lube of each of the reels I found that the Pfluegers and the Extremes were almost identical in internal layout. Mayhaps the Extremes are made by Pflueger?

Height is a relative thing, depending upon the individual. In my younger days I had no fear of height. I learned to focus on the work that needed to be done, ignored the distance to the ground and enjoyed the view. I'm sure those guys are doing the same thing. BTW, I'm still not afraid of height, but I can no longer make the climb. Getting old really sucks.

I can't speak for the foot pedal, but with the iPilot hand-held remote, steering changes are instantaneous.

There are very few people who tailgate me. I generally drive about five mph over the limit. If I have to, my Suburban, with boat in tow, has the power to easily pass a slower driver. I've had it up to ninety while passing. In all honesty, I was waiting for the trailer tires to blow, but they didn't. I suppose that's one of the draw-backs to having a Type A personality. i.e. Lead, don't follow.

I used to hate the wind until I bought a Minn Kota Terrova with the iPilot. Now, I just hit a button and the TM automatically keeps me within a five foot radius of where I "anchored."

Physically, everything was fine with me (other than eyesight) until I turned sixty, then I started to slowly fall apart. At this point I have now been diagnosed with Essential Tremors (my hands shake) and recently, with blockage in the Femoral arteries. I can't walk more than a hundred feet or so without severe cramps in my calves. I'm not going to talk about what is happening with my teeth. Add the above to the fact that a lifetime of knocks and bangs has resulted in not a day that goes by without waking up with pain in some part of my extremities, and you end up with the proverbial Old Fart. That said, I am in much better health than many others my age and younger. I count my blessings.

If you are comfortable using a large number of icons and can remember what they all represent, then by all means do so. After all, it's YOUR depth finder.

Once upon a time there was a lot of good-natured ribbing between the "Depends" crowd (the Old Farts) and the "Pampers" crowd (anyone younger than an Old Fart.) The dividing line between the two groups was sort of a gray area because the "tweens" were sort of left in limbo until he/she decided to take sides. For the most part, the Pampers group were mostly in their teens and twenties, and everyone else wore Depends. We had a lot of fun with that one, but the founding fathers in the Pampers group had the bad manners to grow into young adults and abandoned us old farts in the pursuit of both a further education and "those sweet young things." This is an open invitation to reopen the dialog. Pampers, you go first.
