Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
We launched near Haverhill and went upstream until we couldn't go any further. Anchored in a pretty narrow channel and the current was ripping.

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
Been eying some spots on the Merrimac to try for stripers when the time comes. My dad caught a 40"er when we went up it with his old boat years back. Sketchiest fishing experience of my life navigating up the current and the rocks in a fiberglass boat.

Any of you guys do this new required boat safety course yet? I'm scoffing at the cost of the online course and certificate but seeing the in person ones are either multiple days or a fulllll day and a follow up test. Kind of blows ngl.

Who's into Tail Spinners?
Th Jackal Deracoup is one of my go-to baits. Can easily fish it on a baitcaster too and it can be lasered through the wind which makes it an awesome bait in the spring and fall when it's cold and windy.

Best lipless crankbait
Same for me up North. Grass and weeds choke out quick makes it hard to fish cranks on many lakes. But when I am able to bottom hop the LV-500 or a Vault are my go-to's.

Placed my 2nd Tackle Warehouse order within the last year. I was slacking haha. Needed to restock on some Roboworms and EZ shiners before the season gets going for me. Lowkey kind of cruel that TW keeps track of your entire order history lol. I don't need to see my bad decisions layed out like that haha.

Very solid deal. The original A was one of my first baitcasters.

@Mr. Aquarium How do you fish the suspending lipless? Is it basically like a jerkbait where instead of twitching it you burn it for a second and then let it sit, and repeat?

If only I had a BFS setup...or liked to crank lol.

Lures you may never use ???
Every lure I've bought I bought for a purpose, however I either discovered some of them sucked at that purpose, had better alternatives, or I simply did not find myself encountering those niche situations much. Definitely a lot of cranks fall into that category for me. I find the situations I would throw a crank the lake is either choked with too many weeds, it's too windy and I can cover water better with something like an underpsin or spinnerbait.

pre-spawn?
Up North here I generally find them start to get active around 45-48 during warming trends, but it's usually closer to that 50-52 mark that I find them actively starting to push shallow in the right conditions. Usually that first day it breaks into the low 50's during warming trend where there is some significant wind...lights out. But even before that they're moving in the channels and along the deeper breaks to be near those shallow areas they will eventually move up to.

Goodbye Winter, Hello Summer 😎 That wind and temperatures on Tuesday / Wednesday should be like a blowtorch for the ice. Edges will be totally shot with the rising water levels and from there just need some additional wind and moderate temps to chisele through it.

Big bait talk
Anyone try the Savage Gear Scandal yet? Not much of a glide guy myself but the tail design with the stabilizer fins is interesting.

Drifting Vs Stationary in a boat
I always try and position so I can drift efficiently with the wind, but some days that's just not possible and have to stay in one spot. Generally bottom contact baits I want direct control over the speed so i use the trolling motor or position my kayak somewhere just out of the wind so I can stay still. Moving baits, covering water, always drift.

Next week is going to be total war against the ice. I'm seeing close to 70 degrees on Tuesday, 60s on Monday. Spring is definitely close, and I'm getting the itch again.

Dobyns spinnerbait review
The SV-3 is my go-to. Also where are you getting the double willow ones, I looked on their website they only showed the combo blade. Edit* Nvm I see them now I do appreciate the heavy wire they do seem super durable. And the head design is definitely good for grass.

Best Hooks?
Gamakatsu, Owner, and Ryugi for me. I despise Trokar hooks, or any cutting point hook for that matter. The tips roll and they do exactly what they are designed to....cut. I had a few of the war eagle spinnerbaits with them and they would constantly slice large holes in the side of the fish's mouth so when they went to shake there wasn't much meat holding on to anything anymore. But most of my worm hooks are Gamakatsu, trebles are usually Owner. I do like the Gamakatsu Nano Finesse and Ryugi Pierce small trebles for jerkbait fishing and finesse baits like tailspins, blade baits etc.

Solid deal. I've already got a few of the babies (nothing "baby" about them lol).

Dobyns spinnerbait review
I've fished the Beast. Thought the hook was a bit too long so it didn't swim perfectly parallel (goes through the water with a tilt). I also prefer a double willow, which it isn't offered in. Other than that I thought it was pretty solid. Seems like it would fish better with a trailer, and it does have a pretty solid bait keeper which is nice.

6th sense Jigsaw bladed jig
Unfortunately I was a bit too eager during some past sales so my collection of "the other guys" will take a few years to dwindle down lol.
