MLF discussions
I'm guna have to respectfully disagree. It just wouldn't be fair to take away someone's weight each period. Yes there have been instances where the leader has clearly gapped the field but today Evers still had a good shot for awhile and there have been plenty of times when someone from the bottom has come back in the 3rd period to win. It just won't happen every time. I do think more than not the episodes are real nail biters for who will finish on top. My problem lately has been major league lessons. I think this needs real improvement. They should spend more time one on one with the top 3 guys and just let them explain their patterns and thoughts throughout the day. Instead as it is now its just a 30 min recap of what I already watched

Crankbaits in cover
I've had several days where banging cranks off wood was the only way to get bit. Jigs and worms would come back untouched and then next cast same spot with a crank and they slam it

Powell endurance crank rod reviews
@Burros Well I'm partial to the quantum tour edition line but to get the weight range I'm looking for I would have to get their 7'10 which is more than my locker will hold. Not a deal breaker but not ideal. I've also been eyeing the all-star nano 7'10" MH at academy. I dont know anyone who has one but it feels good in my hands, same issue with length. The Powell is the only other one I've considered that's in my price range and they are spoken well of.

Powell endurance crank rod reviews
@Burros thanks for your response. How is the action? They seem to all be listed as moderate fast but there is no standard for this. How would you describe the action or parabolic bend? Thanks again Sucks not bein able to hold one in my hands

Sunline defier armilo line?
Just today I decided to put it on my jig rod to try. 25lb test which is equivalent size wise to the 17lb Berkeley fluro I normally use. I'm still undecided on this application. The line is very manageable even for this high a test, I think I was able to skip farther than with fluro. I also have way more confidence in the knot strength. The hook set wasn't bad although it was a little softer than the fluro. I think this line would be great for crankbaits if you don't mind the cost

Whatever gets it done!
So a little while ago someone posted on here a way to catch gar using nylon rope. Basically cutting a piece off and fraying the ends so the small strings catch on the gars teeth. Well fishing out the back of a friends boat today I was seeing a lot of gar and decided to give it a try. I cut a piece of rope and wasn't even planning on using a hook bit couldn't find any other way to attach it so I used a #2 octopus hook. After catching a few gar I pitched to another fish I thought was a gar and well you see. Keep anneye on the flea market for this new lure I'll be selling haha

Fluorocarbon or mono??
12 big game for me. As WRB put it, I see no advantage to use fluro in cranking applications.

Powell endurance crank rod reviews
Looking for another crank rod, one that will throw both 5-6xds as well as handle smaller 1/2 ounce cranks. I love my 1st gen quantum tour edition but the new one are either too long or the recommended weight range is too low. I stumbled on the new Powell endurance line and they have a 7'5 MH composite that seems would fit the bill just curious if anyone has one and how they like it. Feel free to recommend any others as well but I'm not looking to spend over 140-150 and must be 7'6 or less. Thanks

Buzzbait with a toad instead of a skirt
See a lot of guys doing this in MLF wheeler, Montgomery, that guy who wears orange shoes lol I have more luck with no skirt and a swimbait than the toad.

What Do You Take?
If I fish a tourney as the non boater I bring 8 setups, and my tackle bag with 6 Plano's and packed full of plastics. It's probably overkill as by mid morning I'm normally down to 3 rods but I just can't help to not have other options in the lineup. You also never know how someone plans to fish if plan A they told you about doesn't work and in the back of the boat you must adjust to your boaters style

Deep Cranking Rod
The length of the rod defiantly helps with distance but as long as the rod loads properly with the specific bait 7ft should sling it out there well. The dredgers are much smaller than most other deep divers due to the weighted bill. They also seem to dive quicker. I've yet to throw any dredgers bigger than the 14.5 but @scaleface should be able to help with that.

Randy Haynes explanation
I'm not sure exactly how I feel about it, I can see both sides but I can't understand him withdrawing. That was the wrong move regardless of what happened beforehand. @RichF I was thinking the same thing lol. Not to pick on the guy to hard but I guess when your a pro bass fisher English isn't too important? He should proof read before making a public statement

Would you rather have more rods than reels, or more reels than rods?
That's genius Ajay. I need to buy a couple extra spools. I fish different bodies of water one with tons a vegetation and others with none. Any time I fish around grass I want braid and when I'm not I don't. Keeping extra spools would save money and solve that problem

Favorite Jig to skip
This is my bread and butter. Its how I've won tournaments out the back of the boat and what I'm doing 80% of the year. I use sieberts brush jigs. I have considered buying his dock skipper head and also SK skipping jig designed by Andy Montgomery. My only hold back is although they may skip a little better (idk) the brush jigs comes out of the nasty cover better than any other jig I've found which is just as important. If you can skip far into the woods but can't work it back out efficiently your not doing much. On a side note although I can skip side arm exceptionally well, I cant pitch-skip for lack of a better word at all but yall know what I mean
