you are absolutely right i tease my buddies all the time, we joke around and have fun! but this isnt the first time! he met a friend of mind on the lake and was talkin smack about me! hell even behind my back to another buddy while we were fishing together! maybe im over reacting, but there was some other issues, this was just the cherry on top. i have had some haters before and i enjoy it cuz they light a fire under I disagree and drive me to fish more and harder. only way i defend my self is by sending in fish pictures!

winter big bass help!
so this kid says i suck at fishing, not to sound cocky but ive caught some big fish. 6.9lbs smallie and a 7.8 largemouth in MA doesnt come easy and his PB is only 6.5 for largemouth and 4.0 lbs for smallie, he thinks his 11lb fish from from a private stocked pond where the guy hand feeds the fish, he thinks it counts as his PB, well i need to put him in his place! i have a pond with big bass! caught many fish over 5lbs here, including my PB of 7.8 Its a small 11 acre pond of not pressured fish. its 30 feet deep. with some great drop offs! and deep flats the problem is its stained now ive always heard cold stained and murky water is tough fishing! i love bass fishing in the winter, blade baits and hair jigs down deep in clear water ponds. what area would you fish! the southern area with a shallow shoreline flat with weeds and trees its less then 5 feet deep along the shore then gradually deeper then very steep drop off that drops into 20-30 feet or the northern area where the shoreline is all a deep 5-10 foot flat with shoreline trees and weeds. the flat drops off into the deeper 20-30 foot water. the northern area has very little shallow, less then 5 feet parts! some shoreline water drops into 5 feet plus! other parts of the northern area have a little bit of shallow water very tight to shore then drops in into that 5-10 foot flat this pond has no inlets or outlets it is spring fed, the ground water is around 50 degrees! any suggestions on what to use here? would blades and hair jigs deep work as good as they have for me in deep clear water ORRR PLAN B!! Fish a deep clear water pond with big bass??? oh and i don have a fish finder or GPS on my kayak

Smallmouth fishing at night?
ive caught a handful of smallies at night! one spot its more largmouth then smallies but smallies are big here. they feed heavy on craws, biggest night smallie i caught was on a deps buzz jet. caught them on texas rig craws, rage lobster. brush hogs, missle destroyer. havent really figured out how to target them at this place its more of by chance, largemouth, largemouth, smallie and more largemouth. another place, small pond all smallies! my buddie has done very well here with senkos at night! i use topwaters , jigs and swimbaits! havent really fished here at night much, these smallies tend on the small side but action is fast and furious! i caught this smallie on a blade bait in january just after sundown! water temps at 40

Pond bass in winter
each pond is different up here when the ice is on the ponds i usually fish near trees and structure for bass, on pond i ice fish is 10 feet deep but i catch all the bass along the shore near the downed trees. but another pond also 10 feet, ive caught bass scattered throughout. middle of the pond near the shore, near shoreline trees! id fish jerkbaits and jigs!! i caught my first 7lbser on a finesse jig in march, pond was half covered with ice. it was a cold day, cloudy, snow on the ground, the fish was in 3-4 feet of water under a big tree. best bet would be to find a dam, not a big hydropowered dams but the dams you see on old mill ponds. the deepest water is usually there. ive had luck in february fishing jerkbaits in these spots. my favorite winter time places are small pond with deep clear water. up here in MA we have kettle hole ponds, made by the glaciers, only spring fed no inlets or outlets. these places are deep 20 feet plus, small and clear water. awesome winter spots! you can find the fish pretty easily and dont have to waste time in dead water. great for a yak angler with no fishfinder like my self. give me a depth map and im allset. these places are hair jigs, blade baits and small plastics on light jig heads!

Big bass Large ponds vs small ponds?
is there a difference between their habits in a large pond and lake vs a small pond? deep pond vs shallow? i was told big bass are creatures of habits in the larger spots with deep water, they stay in the same areas and dont roam far. but what about the small ponds? i have a small 11 acre pond with big bass, its 30 feet deep. so you think they will have the same habits as a deep larger pond or lake??

Tips on New england bass
im very active on the eastern ma report and just posted my report about last weekends very cold slaughter fest. if your from shore, your best bet would be small jerkbaits fished slow with long pauses in shallow ponds, less then 10 feet deep. if you able to get on a kayak or boat then head deep with blade baits, hair jigs and small plastics on light jigs, this is slow fishing with light lines but when you get on them youll get em good especailly smallies! find the deep structure. steep drop offs, humps, flats, holes. i look for ponds deeper then 20 feet, clear water ponds. the pond i fished saturday was my first time there! on a map it didnt look to have alot deep structure, but when you really look you can find subtle changes in the depth contours, look at how steep a drop off is, thats how i found the spots to fish, new pond with out a fish finder!

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
i need to get some ROF 0s i went out saturday to a new pond and CRUSHED IT!!!!! fished the yak in this new spot! fished blade baits, 1/4 ounce hair jig, a small swimbait on a jig head and a jerkbait but the blade and hair jig CRUSHED IT!!! well the hair jig did most of the damage. at first i paddled to the side where the trees blocked the wind, thats where the steeper drop off was and dropped into a deep flat. caught fish along the edges and the flat. they were schooled up. as the wind died i fished the rest of the pond. went to a flat with green weeds and CRUSHED THEM!! i caught well over a dozen fish, most were 1-2lbs but the kicker was a chunky 4lber, super fun on light line and light rods. the hair jigs crushed em! just a black 1/4 ounce hair jig. slow hopped along bottom! id cast out let it hit bottom, twitch, let it fall, twitch, fall, repeat. hair jigs have been something i wanted to get into when it gets cold! glad i use them! sunday woke up at 430 am drove west, chasing salmon and lake trout! wanted to get some beautiful spawning salmon, only caught my first last august so im very very happy to get a few more. walked the river a mile or 2, saw a couple and caught a couple. after lunch went to go get perch to use for bait. caught about 7 or 8 small perch, then went to my favorite spot for lakers! the guys with shiners next to me cleaned house! i wasnt able to cast as far as they were. had one run on a shiner they gave me
