  1. Only once, I had a bass on my first cast ..... A dink ! So I kinda let him swim around until he came off ;D ! Well the rest of the day wasn't that good anyway ! :-/
  2. Hi everybody, Any rod builder/customer out there ! 8-) I'm willing to have the guides on my old trusty flippin' L&T changed ! I have other flippin' sticks, but for some reason I really love this Daiwa L&T.... Love it for light flipping! But I just never liked the guides ! I wish they were SIC, lower and lighter, plus I would like to have one more. I have zero experience with rod building ? Do you think this is feasable ? If yes, where can I find a replacement set (SIC guides, even titanium, why not ). I would like to have the first guide (above the reel) closer to the reel. Do you think it will break the action ? I know guide placement is crucial ... I know it's a lot of work for a normal not-too-fancy rod, but I really love that flippin' stick. Thank you very much, TL
  3. I agree with that ! Do you like a old bait-graveyard where you keep all your killed-in-combat lures. Daniel, one of those broken baits looks familiar ! ;D
  4. I voted "Lucky Craft" because those are the ones I use the most ! Like the Moonsault CB, the Fat & Flat CB, and love the RC a bunch. But I also love them Bagleys. The orig. B2 & 3 ... have an old favorite color...Only have two left though ! It's like a blue/purple back with salmon/pink flanks and pink belly with golden sparkles and a chartreuse tail.... Anybody knows the name ? As for DD CB, just LC as I said, and also Norman from time to time !
  5. Nice fish .... congrats ! 8-) Lucky you ! The weather seems to be good by the look of what you're wearing.
  6. Can't go wrong with the Zoom Super Chunk indeed.... Add a booyah boo jig in like 1/4. Assalt makes some pretty good rubber jig too (The Cobra I think) I love it, don't remember the name... plus I'm not sure they are still selling it. LC makes the Glass killer which is my number one jig when flippin' grass with a baby brush hog as trailer, but I think LC USA does not sell the jig (not sure though) ! As trailers I mainly use Zoom super chunk, Zoom Brush hog and Zomm Super Speed Craw..... love them Zoom !
  7. Hi everybody, Don't know if the subject as already been treated, I could not find anything related in the search engine. But what was your ugliest bass ? and do you have a pic ? Caught a pretty ugly one ! Take a look ! Ok that's a dink ... but not your every-day dink, or ? Caught on a spinner ... Don't have a clue why, but I always catch the weirdest one on a spinnerbait, caught a blind bass on a fast retrieve with a spinnerbait last year. Well, the spinnerbait is a weird bait after all. Go ahead, show the monsters !
  8. The Wander (or Lipless Pointer as you mentionned) is a big hit on the french atlantic coast for Sea bass... because it casts a mile and is very finesse oriented ! I think it was discontinued in the US, maybe LC did not do enough to explain the way the bait works. The lure is sure different from the rest of the pack ! But heck it caches a lot of fish, both in salt and fresh-water for me. I love the way it rolls side-to-side when falling on a slack line. BTW, nice chunky bass in your avatar pic ! 8-) Unfortunately, when you fish it, you basically feels pretty much nothing in your line (I guess a lot of anglers don't like that) ! Best way to use it for me, is cast an steady slow retrieve, pause and let it fall. I basically never twitch that bait. Works for me !
  9. Never broke any lip on my LC.... and God knows I use them a lot ! Maybe you had a bad one. How did you break yours ?
  10. Definitely Lucky Craft ... except for the LVO I mostly throw LVR Mini, LV 100, LV-500 and LVR D7. I also fish my RatLTraps a bit. But I love to fish Vibrations in-and-around grass, and I love the LVR for that kind of fishing. Fav. color will have to be Mad Craw
  11. Thanks for your prompt answer ! Well I guess we learn something new everyday ! Little did I know you guys had a size-limit for the bend of the hook in faraway California. We basically don't have such a thing over here, although we are not allowed more than two trebble hooks on the same lure in freshwater ! Do you also carve other types of lures ? Swimbaits, crankbaits or jerkbaits perhaps ? BTW, nice to hear California hasn't seceded yet ! Ok Just teasing the Californians.

Yop real nice colors ! Will sure catch some fish
  13. Yop pretty sure of that one ! Can check though. But I think the bass in Morocco came from France in the first place. Plus the only countries in Africa where Florida-strain largies were imported are South-Africa and Zimbabwe according to my knowledge.
  14. Glad to hear I'm not alone ! : I also religiously cast my Daritsu Popper in Old glory Color every year on July 4th. Never had a bass touch it, I guess they respect the Colors, since they come up to salute. Oh I can't fish without a cap or a visor on my head ! I just won't fish if I don't have one. And also, I'm always carrying a sort of Line clipper around my neck, even though I cut the line with my teeth about 99% of the time. I guess I am not the only one around here, whose dentist knows you're a fisherman
  15. I already knew that this is possible to order live bass to eat in some chinese restaurants. But what you're saying is that there are also various possibilities to actually fish for bass in China (even if it is in man-made square artificial ponds). I guess sport angling is bound for huge growth in the coming years in China. The next big market ! Anyway, I guess China makes it to the list !
  16. Wow awesome baits Fourbizz ! 8-) And I love the color pattern too. You seem to be good at hand carving the same form multiple times ! Congrats on that. Do you have like a Custom Bait company ? Aren't the hooks on the biggest ones a tad small ? Just asking !
  17. Sad sight indeed :-/ ! You said 200 dead bass ... on what distance ? Were there only the bass that were hit ? (I wonder if there's a crappie in one of the group pictures) It seems pretty strange that the changing weather did that ! Scary anyway. A dead 12lbs floating on you fishing spot must be something hard
  18. Ricos, ChugBug, Yellow Magic Popper, GYCB Sugoi Splash & Sugoi Splash II, LC S8, and for fast popping without many stops I'll go with a LC G-Splash 65 ! My favorite is the GYCB Sugoi Splash II, in Shad color .... followed by the LC S8 in Frog .... Usually fish my popper tight to cover and pretty slow...long pause ! I will use them fast on fish chasing in open water (mostly the G-splash) and in that case I ususally end up switching to either a sammy or a spoon .....those fish are always too far away :-?
  19. Yop exactly T-Rig .. But Pescalis is a fishing center, it sure has like 2 small lakes with bass... But it's far from being a bass hot spot, let alone a bass heaven. You know better than that T-rig ! You know the best spots in France
  20. and a whole new meaning to the "walking-the-dog" as we knew it ! I love this one from 2007.... The bass seems pretty happy to get back to its element !
  21. Thank you for all the colors advice ! @Infidel : Sounds like a good way to proceed... though one has to be really patient to do so. As for the action of the bait, it already has what I was trying to get ... Of course now I have to get bass's feedback : Anyway, sounds like some of you are pretty interested in the hinge... Although I don't think it is really particular, here is a scheme. I thought it was pretty classic, or ? (the eye screws for the line tie and the hooks are actually longer than they appear on the picture, but I could not find a picture of an eye screw with a longer shaft) The flat-head nail that is inserted in the eye-screws is glued in place.
  22. That would have to be catching 30 bass while flippin' and the missing 20 on Buzzbait ! 8-) My idead of a perfect day on the water. I guess what you guys consider average is "Ok-to-nice" for us in Europe. So I'll sure go with the 50 average-sized bass a day.
  23. MaxDal replied to BIG M's topic in Tacklemaking
Wow nice looking crankbaits ! I especially love the top one ! I notice that you make good use of the wire board for your lips .... Is it really stronger than normal lexan, even with such long diving lips ? Congrats on the painting too.... the bottom one looks the best as far as colors go !
  24. Gorgeous fish and very good pics ! 8-) Congrats Good luck with that 7+ !
  25. Oops and I almost forgot to put "the Republic of Texas" in the list 8-) @ T-Rig : Thx for the participation ! Honduras, I knew but wasn't 100%sure ! Just cheched, seems like Lake Yojoa is a good spot ... Honduras can enter the list ! Guatemala and Lake Atitlan too As for Honduras I know they have the Rainbow Bass, aka the guapote but that's a cichild. But found bothing about Largemouth bass (specific info on that T-rig ?) Colombia..... nothing relevant either ? Anybody from South America, with an extensive knowledge of fish populations in south american coutries on the forum ? To be very clear : I am only looking for countries were bass thrive in the wild. Of course B.A.S.S ESPN already made some research on that particular issue... http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/general/columns/story?columnist=sutton_keith&page=g_col_Sutton_largemouth-distributionbut then again they say Moncoutant in France is a bass fishing haven ! Yeah right So just the countries with an established population (even a tiny one) ! But no country with elusive stocking history from the late 18th century : ! If you can post a bass caught in the country (even dinks) then go ahead.
