  1. I thought this had gone the way of the Do-Do until I opened the new BPS catalog. YUM has brought this thing back in four new colors. I had 3 of them when they were new. Looked great in the water, but could never get a single fish to hit one. Up until this morning, I'd never even heard of anyone who caught a fish on one. (On another board there were two guys who admitted they caught "at least one" on it) They went from being sold to being given away free with every bottle of Fish Formula. Don't think I'll get hooked this time around. 8-)
  2. And no scheduled maintenance for the first two years............
  3. I have several of the "Crickhoppers" in the UL size. I've caught a lot of undersize bass on them, but no keepers. I also have a couple in the larger size, but strangely enough I've never gotten bit on them. For pure fun, find a bedding area for bluegill or shellcracker and toss one of those UL sized ones in there. I guarantee you you can't get it out of there alive ;D Black is a killer. Yellow don't work bad either.
  4. GATCO (Great American Tool Company) makes an outstanding hook hone with two sharpening grooves in it. Or go to Lowe's to the section where they have pocket knives. They have a sharpener there covered with diamond dust. It's metal with a groove down the middle. I've been using one and it's great. Can't remember the name but it comes with a black nylon carrying pouch. Once you get your sharpener, remember to sharpen by running the hook in the direction of the point.
  5. The Excalibur Spittin' Image is one of my favorites............
  6. While it might be a bit much for deep cranking, I'd say that a 6.3:1 would work for just about anything else you could toss while bass fishing.
  7. I'm pretty certain that Oakley, Costa del Mar, and one or two others offer Rx lenses in at least some of their models. Check out their websites.

    Try this one: www.barlowstackle.com
  9. I don't think you'll be seeing a whole lot of bassin' shows. Bassmasters, certainly. Beyond that it's anybody's guess.
  10. If you gotta trim, I usually trim them even with the hook bend. Or, you can take your thumb and push down on the guard in the middle, splitting it in half. That works pretty good without the cutting.
  11. I'm a relative newcomer to this site, but I, too, would like to say thanks for making a board like this available. Nobody disses anyone else's choice of boat/motor/tackle, and I've rarely seen a post go unanswered. This is something I can't say for the board I was frequenting before finding this one. Merry Christmas to all of you.
  12. I've bought two of them over the years....both of which SANK when they hit the water Not exactly what they're supposed to do............
  13. Don't have any floating 'traps, but I have several suspending Cordell Spots. Never caught a single bass on those. The regular Spots, however...
  14. Currently, the only "name" I can recall is Marty Stone. Mark Davis did up until this past year when he went with Skeeter. BassCat is bringing out a "Marty Stone Signature" in the Sabre model.
  15. The only trailer I add to my SB's is a trailer HOOK.
  16. ;D I have it on very good authority that playing Nirvana causes the bass to want to commit suicide. Playing Rap Music would cause ME to want to commit suicide........
  17. I like to fool around with TerraServer on rainy, shut-in days. I take those HotSpot maps with GPS coordinates, feed them into TerraServer, and take a look at the site from the air. What I've found is that those Hot Map sites will often show up on dry land when fed into Terra Server
  18. If I remember correctly, XL is the most limp of the three and the best on spinning reels. XT is somewhat stiffer and more abraision resistant. BigGame is the strongest of the lot. Lots of people use that for flipping or working the really thick stuff.
  19. Basscat. Haven't found a release that says which model, but I would imagine it will be a Jaguar or Puma.
  20. Norman Mad-N, Bandit 100, Bandit FootLoose to name a few. And they won't break the piggy bank... Oops, my mistake.....you asked about LC's only......... :-X

As a retired cop with 22 years of service, I can tell you from experience that just the sound of a shell being jacked into the chamber of a 12 gauge pump will cause 99% of intruders to put on the brakes and beat a retreat. The other 1%? Well, that's what you racked the shell in there for in the first place

Did I miss something? I thought they switched to the Beretta 9mm about 10 years years ago and it is still standard Nato issue (including US) Indeed they did, but the specs are now out for a "new" military sidearm with a double stack mag in .45 ACP. Apparently they found out (again) that smaller calibers in ball ammo can't quite cut the mustard.
  23. When I belonged to a club in NW Pa., at the end of the day after weigh-in the winner always told HOW he caught his fish, but never WHERE.
  24. I will AMEN that JMO of course, but I think the same thing could be said for Abu-Garcia's. (A lot of them, anyway)
  25. Silver Thread all the way 8-)
