Barometric pressure
I believe that a pressure of around 30 is best. (Read that somewhere)

Berkley Lightning pro-lite Hank Parker trigger rod
I've said this before and I'll probably say it again......Lightnin' Rods are one of the better buys in a budget-priced rod. However I've found that occasionally their ratings are a little on the light side. I.E. the rod actually fishes a bit stiffer than the given rating. I wouldn't buy one sight unseen, but if I found one in a store that I liked I wouldn't be afraid to buy it.

Hey ReelMech......
Finally got on the water today to try out your handiwork. OUTSTANDING!!!! Casting is totally effortless (good thing too, cuz I've got tendonitis in my right wrist > ). I also had to make adjustments cuz I kept overthrowing the target.. ;D:D You get my vote....and any future work I need.

upgrade parts for citica/ cruxis?
The person you want to talk to here is ReelMech. He won't sell you any parts, but will most likely have some suggestions for you. I just got back a Curado I'd gotten in a trade that turned out to be a 3.8 model. Sent it to him and had all the necessary parts replaced to make it a 6.3:1 retrieve, along with the addition of Carbontex drag system. More than reasonable and the reel absolutely sings

I guess weather doesn't make a difference....
On Mar 2, there was a small tournament held out of Paris Landing Marina on Kentucky Lake. Water was 44 degrees surface. The wind was hitting 20mph and the old lady was whitecapping pretty good. One local team weighed in 5 bass weighing 29.75 pounds , capped by one 8 pounder. All fish were over 5 lb. Neither fisherman is saying one word about spots or lures : I guess any weather is time to hit the water

2nd Fish Finder Question
1) Should I use the battery power from the trolling motor batteries or from the motor battery? From the motor battery. 2) Will the electrical emissions from the trolling motor affect the tranduscer if I mount the transducer on the motor? It may or it may not. Newer setups are pretty trouble-free. 3) Will I have to turn the fish finder off when pulling the trolling motor back up into the boat? In other words will the finder or transducer be harmed if the unit is not turned off before pulling the motor out of the water? I seldom turn mine off when running from one spot to another. It hasn't hurt my unit at all. 4) Do you have a better recommendation for a place to put the bow mounted transducer other than on the trolling motor? Nope.

So I found a Zell Rowland rod on Ebay.
Didn't know they had a ZR spinnerbait model. I have their ZR Top Water Special that I absolutely love. Great for smaller crankbaits, too.

Pennsylvania Rod Recon Request
Daiwa is again making the Light & Tough series of rods. Check Northern Bass Supply as I believe they carry the whole line.

Ice out and Silver Buddys
The Buddy is an outstanding lure anytime the fish are deep.....not just in cold water. I believe, though, that the vibration/action has changed on the newer ones. The 1/2oz (my favorite) seems to have a heavier/slower action than the older ones did. I still have several of the older ones in 1/2 and 1/4 oz. Great lures.

Norman Speed Clips For Cranks?
I have made several casts with the speed clips and when I got the lure back, the clip had been torqued open and was barely holding the lure! I still use them on occasion, but never on topwaters. I like the plain-jane Duo-Lock snaps. Never had a failure with those.

My Pet Peeve: Breaking Your Line
RW, you're 100% right. I check my line for nicks after every fish, and retie knots (even when using snaps) several times a day. The ONLY time I ever lost a fish due to failed line was when I didn't to do this and the knot broke at the hook eyelet.

Yum Dancin' Eel
They looked good in the water.....and that's about it. They finally resorted to giving them away....one with every purchase of Fish Formula. Only ever heard of one or two people who actually even had a strike on them.

Ultimate Match Fishing?
The new shows will begin this summer. Check out their website for all the data. This year it will pit anglers from BASS against FLW. should be great.

Cleaning reels
The best tip I can give you is to package them up and send them to ReelMech. You get a discount for being a member of this board and his service is beyond reproach.

Dicks sporting goods
About 13 years ago, I worked as the "backwall manager" (fishing/camping), at the first Dick's store located outside of NY state (this one in Erie, PA). When I worked there, EVERYONE they hired was versed in what they were selling. For instance, I had fishing dept. personnel who fished for different species. I handled bass, two of the others fished for walleye, had one guy whose favorite was steelhead/salmon. All of them could at least converse on species other than their favorites. It was that way in all departments. The fishing dept I ran was HUGE! It was store policy that no customer went more than 30 seconds without at least a greeting. At that time, the Lodge was strictly hunting. Sad to say, that has gone by the wayside. I've visited back there and nobody seems to know anything. Their fishing dept. has shrunk to nothing and is housed in a small room (lodge) with the hunting dept. Now, the emphasis is on golf, clothing, et al.

Vandam's Leading after 2 Days
I've always found that the first day after a front can be productive. It's the 2nd and 3rd days that things get really tough...... GO KVD!!!!!

Topwater Boy Howdy???????
There are simply too many good topwaters for me to pick just one. I fish Pop-R's, Spooks, Skitter Pops, buzzbaits, Devil's Horse, Spittin' Image, and a handful of others. If I remember right, that Boy Howdy has a prop at each end. Fish it when there's a light (or even heavy) chop on the water. You need something that makes noise.

Getting started in plastics......what is needed??
You will need: a. Mold(s) b. Plastic c. melting pan/pot d. An understanding wife if you intend to do this in her kitchen ;D e. colors/glitter f. perhaps some softner/hardner If the wife tosses you out of the kitchen into the garage, then you'll need a cheap hotplate.

On-board charger
I have a DualPro 3-bank that has run now for 8 years, 24/7 (except when I was on the water), and it still going strong. I wouldn't consider another brand.

Soft bait scents. Whats good?
You'll probably get a lot of different replies here. I prefer "Kick'n Bass" Crawfish scent. I also use some BANG Craw as well.

Raingear
GoreTex is fine, but it's not the end-all. There are less expensive alternatives that are just as comfortable. Cabelas makes some fine rainwear. I have a set of their "Dry-Plus" (keeps you dry, plus it breathes). I have been out in a torrential downpour or two and stayed totally dry the whole time.

Quiting tobacco chewing..
You just need the right incentive. I got it the last time I visited my dentist. Had dipped for the past 30 years. I was getting my teeth cleaned and the dentist walked in to do an exam. After he finished he took a mirror and held it in front of my face and pulled my lower lip down, pointing to a white area on my gum just below a tooth. He told me that he was making an appointment for me in 6 weeks. If that spot wasn't gone I was headed to a dental surgeon where it would be cut out and sent to a pathology lab. If it was cancerous I stood to lose a portion of my face :-/ . I walked out of his office, gave away 2 rolls of dip I had in my truck and have never looked back. That was Oct. 11 of last year. Three weeks later, that spot was gone.....
