best cheaper bluegill swimbait?
I was giving mine a healthy jerk as soon as it hit the water, then reel, then a jerk. They would smash it on the jerk if not as soon as if hit the water.

Carolina Wren
I have a pair of wrens that nest on my front porch every spring, in fact papa is sitting by the window with a bug right now. My favorite bird is either the Baltimore oriel or the redwing black bird. I love the sounds the black birds make, but oriels are such a beautiful bird!

Q?
I just got done eating some ribs I smoked this afternoon. I use a basic char-broil charcoal grill. I do an offset burn, fire on the right, meat under the stack on the left. I really like burning mesquite chunks with the charcoal, heck I burn wood when I'm just grilling some burgers. I did my first turkey last thanksgiving, turned out really tasty , but it cooks really fast so I had to put it in the oven for awhile which gave it rubbery skin, but the meat was awesome!

Budget MH rod?
If you can find one on sale, I love my fenwick hmg. It's medium heavy fast, but I can easily cast a weightless senko, yesterday I was casting a tiny hula popper, the single treble one that's for panfish, it wasn't far, 20' or so, but it zips it out there.

Leader weight for braid?
I use 10 lb pline copolymer for all my leaders. With a good double uni knot it's pretty tough.

Oh I didn't think you were pitching anything, but the unspecific description was awesome

best cheaper bluegill swimbait?
Yeah that belly hook didn't last long, I think mine tore out on the first hit. I did hook most of them with the treble though.

Early cast birds nest
50 lb power pro. I had it happen a few more times today, tried turning the tension up and the brakes down. Maybe it's just me? I was casting the tiny hula popper, it would actually cast it if I let the rod load. I think I'm just whipping it so the lure is going slower than the spool.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Took advantage of the sale at DSG today. Heading out to try these out soon! Update. The 3D bluegill works great. Caught 7 or 8 on it! The frogs don't walk very well, but I didn't trim the legs yet. They didn't take on water so I'm happy about that.

Early cast birds nest
Yeah I normally do a sidearm roll cast, they are very smooth for me and the bait just enters the water so softly, I love it! Unfortunately this place I've been fishing is a no boating pond, it's an old quarry, you have to get your feet wet to get to deeper water, there's several small trees that have grown on the little islands so I don't have much choice in cast style.

Glue(s) Used In Knot Tying?
The glue on the knot comes from the early days of braid. I remember in the early 90's when braid first hit the market around here, dad bought a spool and the knots slipped pretty bad. The guy at the outdoor store said you have to glue the knot so it won't slip. I use power pro in 20 lb test and 50 lb test and I have never had an issue with knot strength.

KastKing Assassin Reel
How does it compare size wise to a Lews LFS? I haven't seen any kastkings in person, but they look a little big in pictures.

Zebco Bullet/ rod combo for wife
I'm sorry but this is pure marketing genius right here i have a pflueger spincast that my wife uses. It's drag isn't very good, it's heavy, it's slow, and if I don't hold it just right I hit the spool release when setting the hook, but, she doesn't get birds nest or line twist and she can cast a good distance with light lures. I'll stick with my baitcaster, but I'd still use a spincast if it's all I had.

Early cast birds nest
That's makes sense, I was casting overhead due to trees beside me, and I was putting some muscle behind it for distance. I'll try to pay attention and see if I can smooth it out. Thanks

Early cast birds nest
I've noticed when I cast I can feel the line on my thumb, a couple times I've actually birds nested which brought my cast to a very sudden stop. I'm using a Lews LFS on a 7' Fenwick HMG medium heavy fast. This it with 3/8 oz chatterbaits, 1/2 oz frogs. This reel doesn't have centrifugal brakes, is there anything I can do to reduce this?

I did it Again!!!
I hate it when I get all wound up, even though it's a weekend thing for me, when I get in a hurry I just don't enjoy fishing and I don't fish good at all.

(Un)official Hoosiers Thread
Must have been a bad day for Hoosier fisherman today! I just got on the water and the text messages start rolling in, I fight the boat for a couple hours, which just infuriated me to the point of thinking about selling it and going back to bank fishing, I say the heck with it, load it up and go to another spot and catch a dink which promptly sinks a treble past the barn in my finger tip. I tried braid, that doesn't work be yourself, so I tried pushing it through but it won't move, so I had to back it out with pliers. Then I got my truck (almost) stuck, so I went home and took a nap! Caught 4 dinks. Broke my rod tip on my spinning rod this morning to! Ahhh! I want to punch this day in the face!!!

Dead panfish
I saw one circling the proverbial drain a few days ago. I waded out about 25' to cast to deeper water and noticed a decent sized bluegill doing circles, listing, and darting. He was extremely dark, the copper on his chest was extremely dark. I'd like to assume it's just age related but he seemed pretty stressed, and swimming slow enough that I caught him by hand.
