  1. Unfortunately I was in a safety meeting that lasted most of the day
  2. Wow. If he makes it to 5 pounds he will be a force to be reckoned with!
  3. School teacher ? I don't have a boat, but I always carry while I'm out of the house, especially if I'm going somewhere away from civilization where it will take a few days to find my body
  4. That's a beautiful carving! Wood carvings are definitely a work of art, I have a few of my grandpas carvings, it always amazes me that you can turn a block of wood into something like that!
  5. I don't see how you guys fish drinking all this coffee! I can't stand still long enough to fish. It's cast/tree/cuss/repeat/move somewhere with less trees I used to slam the Red Bull a lot, I've cut it out completely, but I refuse to give up my morning coffee, but it doesn't give me much patience!
  6. That's almost as bad as the dreaded "ITS FINE!" You have to have that certain tone, the one all the married guys know!
  7. I pack a couple apples and water. Nothing better for a natural energy boost than an apple. If the wife goes with me I end up packing more, she gets grumpy when she gets hungry
  8. My beautiful bride told me to go Saturday afternoon but after looking at the creek levels while we were out that morning I just passed. The last time I tried fishing a flooded creek I ended up skunked and completely aggravated from snagging everything in the creek!
  9. I feel your pain. I lost 5 tungsten cylindrical drop shot weights in one day. I wanted to cry! I've since just switched to using cheap lead weights, saving the tungsten for less aggressive areas. You can buy mushroom jig heads from vmc, but I don't think they end up being any cheaper, still about $1 a jig. I just buy the Zman stuff, I like the keeper on them.
  10. They work great on the small creeks I fish. I like the big TRD in a shad color, I think it's called the deal or something like that.
  11. Very cool! I drove by and thought to myself man, look at that boat! Then I noticed the wrap and the truck in the driveway.
  12. So does anyone know of a professional fisherman that lives around greenwood? I was down there the other day doing my deliveries and saw a sweet bass boat with a Lucas oil wrap and a matching truck.
  13. Now I'm late for work I guess it could be, my experience with the Asian languages is pretty much nonexistent.
  14. It actually has something to do with the way the tongue and mouth move to pronounce words in certain languages that make it difficult to pronounce words in other languages. I saw someone talking about the different British accents and she mentioned that it was all about training the tongue to pronounce words in other languages properly.
  15. Sorry, I forgot the
  16. I think you're 100% correct. Most of the trash I find is obviously from people targeting catfish. I'm sure there are many catfisherman that are just as thoughtful about the environment as we are, unfortunately the few who trash the local pond here severely outnumber them.
  17. I'm sure wd-40 would work, anything to keep the ice from freezing to the car.
  18. Spray a little wd-40 on a rag and wipe all your door seals before we get a freezing rain and it will keep your doors from freezing shut.
  19. I've been to a couple cabelas, the one closest to me is ok, much like a gander mountain. The one I went to in Dundee MI was just awesome, but I don't recall what the fishing department looked like though. I remember the first time I went to a gander mountain though, it was somewhere in Wisconsin. We didn't have any stores like that in Indiana in the early 90's. Dad and I walked around drooling for a solid hour!
  20. There is a small pond down the road from me, the fishing isn't great, but it's close to home and you can catch a few dinks. I like to go there when I take my 3 year old with me because there is room for him to run around on the bank and play while I fish. Unfortunately it's gotten so trashed that I don't like taking him there anymore. The catfisherman are the worst, cut bait left rotting on the bank, empty chicken packages, beer bottles. It's disgusting to say the least. I always carry out my trash, and I make it a point to teach my kids to do the same thing.
  21. Central Indiana has been wonderfully warm (for January) to painfully cold, sometimes all in the same week. It seems the longer I work outside, the less I'm able to deal with the cold. I've noticed the last couple years that I don't recover like I used to. Of course I think a consistently cold winter helps our bodies adjust better than going from-2/10 to mid-50's a couple days later.
  22. My wife and daughter go with me on occasion, but the wife only enjoys going to a select few locations. She's just not fond of hiking through the woods to get to the water, but she can out fish me if she's in the mood to, I took her fishing her first time, she probably out fished me 2 to 1... 10 years later and I still get reminded of that
  23. Like others have said it's going to come down to what you like best. I like my lews, but other than a quantum casting reel that was my dad's from the mid-90's I have no experience with casting reels. Any decent casting reel will probably serve you well.
