  1. I always judge the day by how many torn up senkos I have in the bottom of my bag when I get home I usually bite the end off when it starts getting messed up, then flip them end for end, then I save them for wacky rigging.

That's a heck of a mouth on her very nice bass!
  3. Isn't that like a double negative or something?
  4. Man, you guys are hard on a kid I've never, I'll repeat NEVER heard any fisherman underestimate the weight of a fish!
  5. Now my finger hurts and I threw up in my mouth a little

I don't think I've ever caught a fish on a hard bait. It's all been soft plastics of some sort or a frog. I've had a few blow ups on a hula popper, but never hooked up. Edit, I did catch a few small bass on a small topwater popper once, it was a river that flooded and the fish were basically trapped. They would bite anything you threw in.
  7. Really? Me to! It's crazy, I'm on a forum called Indiana gun owners and an awful lot of them have lost their guns the same way...
  8. Yamamoto heart tail swimbait. Not the first cast, it maybe the 7th or 8th as the wife was telling me nothing in the pond was big enough to eat that, just as she said a one pounder smashed it. It was rather hysterical, and the look on her face, well, you guys that are married know that look
  9. Interesting, but I stopped paying attention after the brunette with an AR
  10. I have read many guys complaining about stuck cases because of the coatings on the steel, and it shoots really dirty. I shot some through my .40 and it was chugging so much black smoke it looked like a .40 power stroke!
  11. A spinning reel will cast much better with the spool filled about 1/8" from the edge of the spool.
  12. The backing isn't so much to prevent the braid slipping as much as keeping you from having to buy 300 yards of braid. You won't realistically be casting 120 yards, so if you spool 120 yards of braid on top of cheap mono you'll be golden. I have about 100 yards on my spinning reel and I've never seen the mono. I use 20 pound test power pro, casts really nice.
  13. I don't see hard water coming anytime soon. It was 79 yesterday, and I was able to connect with a few smallmouth, it's in the 70's today, the family has been outside playing most of the day. I still have green leaves on the trees, they are usually all on the ground by now!
  14. The smallmouth bite is still on, locating them took awhile but once we found them it was a good time. My daughter caught her first smallmouth today, but I didn't get a picture unfortunately.
  15. Why not just wipe some vasoline on them? Seems like it would protect them better than just oil.
  16. Pirate pose? Very nice bass!
  17. Thank you, the mismatch of flat dark earth drove me up a wall for a little while but I'm getting over it everytime I shoot her
  18. My first. I built her myself.
  19. Those suspenders are stretched to their max, if they go off, somebody is going to lose an eye!
  20. Exactly my issue when trying to use my baitcaster. I am pretty accurate with my spinning reel, but there's no telling where the baitcaster will go, usually anywhere but water!
  21. One thing I definitely enjoy more about smallmouth is I don't really need a boat to get into the good ones, at least not in the creek I fish. Mine will go with me occasionally, I took her on her first fishing trip when we were dating, she outfished me, and I've yet to hear the end of it, and that's been almost 12 years ago!
  22. That they are! I was having a blast while they were biting, then the rain moved in and they stopped. I owe my beautiful bride big time for telling me to go before it started raining
  23. Thank you. First smallmouth I've caught since I was a teenager, it was a blast! A 2 pound smallie sure doesn't just ride the wave back to the bank like a largemouth!
  24. Looks like I'm going to have to go get some super glue! Mine were brand new hooks that I was having issues with, I just wondered if anyone else had experienced that with new hooks. Thanks guys!
