Could be. Do you see bass following it? Sometimes if you have one checking it out I'll let it sit and let the skirt spread out, then give it a slight twitch, don't make it pop, that usually scares the fish when their close, just enough to make the skirt pop a little, and always remember, fish are like women, sometimes slow is better, sometimes fast, sometimes they just don't want it at all...
  2. That's funny cause I was just looking at the megabass lures this morning and thought they were awfully expensive, I can definitely see why he was concerned, but I'd still sell my mothers soul to get that hook out!
  3. Oh good Lord man! That is the second most tender place on the human body!!! I really want to throw up a little right now!
  4. Weightless Texas rigged senkos and a frog for the mats

Ah the classic hula popper. Work it really slow, like cast it out and wait for the water to settle down around it before TWITCHING it, then let the water settle again and repeat. That thing has a knack for making bass mad as it sits up there mocking them try the smaller size hula popper and see if that makes a difference, the bass around here are being finicky right now, and the smaller lure size seems to help.
  6. This. Those are some tough hooks if you couldn't cut them with wire cutters!
  7. I have one of those to, he's 2 so I've got insanity coming and going!
  8. Unfortunately we only have over the air tv, so no fishing shows for me. Back in the day it was Bill Dance and Babe Winkleman.
  9. Oh great. Just when I was thinking there were only a few more years of insanity...
  10. Your an evil man. Evil and mean!
  11. Wow man, you just blew my mind! If I may add a course to your schedule, learn to take polite criticism and use it to improve yourself. Sorry, father of a 15 year old girl right here?
  12. Man it got me good, it's not bad just sitting here but it burns like crazy when you get the scratches wet! Between that stuff and the horse flies it was hard to do a lot of fishing yesterday! I think the water levels are down a bit here, not sure about up north, but the pond I was fishing today is down a bit.
  13. I will absolutely fight the urge to scream like a little girl when a snake slithers out from between my feet. I will absolutely drink to much coffee making it hard to do a finesse presentation.
  14. Man, we are almost neighbors, well, within half an hour anyway my 2 year old loves the Andy Griffith show, he'll watch it for hours when it's on. My favorite episode is the one where Barney writes the store owner a ticket for sweeping trash into the street and he threatens to beat Barney up, so they try to teach him Kung fu.
  15. I was a union carpenter for 8 years before things went bust. It was good money, unfortunately I'm making almost $10 per hour less now, but I work year round. If a guy can get into a secure trade job without union representation, that would be the way to go IMHO. Way to many politics and bs for my taste, but I know a lot of guys that are successful at it.
  16. Does anybody know what this plant is? It tore me up yesterday while I was fishing.
  17. Is it just me or has the fishing been tough everywhere today? I managed a few dinks and caught 1 good looking 2 pounder, but it's definitely not like normal for this pond.
  18. In the last two days I've caught 1 HUGE snapping turtle and a bullfrog, both on senkos! I was bombarded by turtles going after my top water frog this morning. I couldn't make a full retrieve without them going for it
  19. I wouldn't worry about getting new hooks, just realize you need to change your hook set since the braid has no stretch, no more over the shoulder, 360 degree spin hook sets I just happen to get hung up on a log, figured the braid would snap at the knot, but the palomer knot held strong!
  20. It looks like something ripped off part of its gill cover, unless it's just the camera angle?
  21. An 11.5 pound smallie? That sucker would be a fighter! The one in your picture is all screwed up to! I can see how it would be stronger than the FG, the FG requires the braid biting into the leader, I think this ones a winner! Thanks for the help!
  22. Took the wife bass fishing today. She had several top water frog hits but didn't connect unfortunately. She still needs work setting the hook. Biggest one of the day was 1.71 pounds, and We worked our butts off for the few we caught, it was a tough bite today. Oh yeah, I love braid. That's a 3/0 KVD mustad hook!
  23. Just retied the leader, seems easier than the FG knot. I'll get to see how it holds up tomorrow, hopefully against bass and not tree stumps I did that after having issues with the leader today. While it didn't seem to make a difference concerning the fish, I did end up doing a lot of reties to different lures. I'd like to avoid cutting my braid up if I can.
