  1. I'm heading down to the Sarasota area to visit some family in the area and we wanna try and target some peacock bass over the weekend while I'm down there. But since I'm going to be on the west side of the state I'd like to try to not drive to Miami ft Lauderdale area to hook up on some of these guys. Does anyone know of any good areas on the south west area of FL that are a good spot to find em?
  2. The wife and I are lookin to go somewhere in state and do a little fishing outside of the normal places we can go around us. Does anyone have any good spots or recommendations where we can do some bank fishing here in Missouri?
  3. I literally have zero reasons to visit the Wentzville dicks now. Awsome. Thanks for the heads up.
  4. Ofically starts today. Hitting the waters for the first time this year. Lined my poles out a week ago but any decent day we've had its been crazy windy. Not trying to catch a birds nest on the first cast with new line
  5. I've only been on the water a hand full of times so far this season, but I've thrown lipless cranks, spinners, chatter, jerks, but the only thing I've got hits on this a chartreuse square bill
  6. I expect to hit 9/10 if not all 10. Usually if you're feeling a short strike on a worm, I think it's likely some sort of pan fish nipping at the worm
  7. No one's mentioned it, but I've got the same problem at 90% of the places I fish and I've been throwing a ribbit road. Just slowly rolling it across the tops, on the outside, by the bank. I've been getting blow up everywhere on em. Like mentioned before I'd pitch to the outside of it if possible. Spinners and chatters baits are really the only other things I'm able to throw in these conditions.
  8. IT is gonna be harder to get a good hook set while bank fishing but it's the only way I have to fish and I'm not gonna pass up learning new techniques because it's gonna be a little more difficult. I'll just work harder at getting better at it.
  9. Yea, I dont think it's the hook, they seem pretty good. I think I was keeping to much tension on the line when trying to set the hook. I'm really not either, but most the places where I fish don't allow me get to close to the water without walking through about 2 ft of grass, not really trying to do that in snake country if I can help it. I'll take a lost fish over a snake bite every single day.
  10. Using the only rod n reel I have. 6'6 med heavy rod with 50# braid for all the nasty stuff I fish through, jigs are 3/8-1/2oz jigs from strike King I've picked up from Walmart to start
  11. Ah ok, makes sense now. I'm sure that's exactly what I'm doing. Will be testing this out the next couple night. Thanks bud.
  12. I'm determined to get better at jig fishing this year. I worked on my pitching last year so I'm still working on it now, but I've got 2 fish so far on the jig, but both have thrown my hook set when I go to flip em. Am I just not setting the hook well enough for a jig?
  13. I'm very careful not to call her my old lady. It's always ol lady. Plus she's a whole 5 days older than me
  14. I'm in no way upset. I see no difference I'm not sure why you're trying to argue. I stated that I see the stance from both sides.
  15. The difference would be starvation
  16. If you're a fan of spinners I'd suggest a chatter bait as well. I personally like the black and blue ones. Seem to do mu h better any time of day or year on those than any other lure
  17. I will take a bad day on the water getting skunked over my best days at work every single time. My new job really put a halt on my fishing. But now my son's out of school so my rod and backpack are riding shotgun for the next 3 months and ima put some hours in on that reel.
  18. When the bite is tough for me my go to is a t rigged Senko. It's a slow playing bait but if I'm gonna catch anything that's gonna be the bait I catch em on. Seems like the Senko has the right action to almost always trigger a bite
  19. I only have 1 pole, and I fish a lot of places with all kids of under water debris to get hung up on, so I've switched to braid. I use 50-60# braid for everything and I mean everything. I havnt had any problems with my top water baits actions
  20. I'm not sure I'd say it catches me more fish but the way I hold my pole, hands pretty much gripped around the reel itself and my line runs directly over my pointer finger for added sensitivity.
  21. I'd personally head out to fish until I see the first flash of lightning and pack it up and call it a day or wait it out if it's not gonna be to long. But I enjoy fishing in the rain, top water bite has been good to be during rain.
  22. I've just started fish if about 2 years ago, and I've really not had any fishing buddies, not that I havnt tried. 99% of the time it's just me maybe my son who's 8. I'd personally rather have someone else with me for a few reasons. 1 being you never know what could happen and you need someone to drive you to the hospital for whatever reason. 2 I'd likely be throwing somthing different than they are so if one of us starts getting g bites we can find a pattern faster
  23. I've yet to catch anything on a jig, or a jerk, got a few on a spinner this year, got a couple on a square bill crank, and 1 on a lip less. I havnt found many baits I have complete confidence in yet.
  24. I've never done it. I assume I'm getting 1 shot to Land the fish, so I set the hook really well, and even if I don't I keep pressure on it till I can lip it. Honestly now that I'm thinking about it I'd be afraid of ripping the lip setting it twice
  25. I can see both sides of this. If someone's catching a trophy bass and they get it mounted, I understand. But if you take that big bass and eat em shame on you (unless you're starving ofc). At the same time I'm all about catch and release, those bass can grow and be someone else's personal best.
