Should I Give Up??
Well, look at it this way.... Going fishing and getting skunked is still better than a day stuck in the at work.

Bank Fishing
Started last week ad already hooked up. Took me a month to get my first bass. Things will get easier. Idk about the weather in GA but it's been up and down for the past few weeks here making finding my fish harder then I expected.

My life lesson learned this year... don’t take fishing for granted
I can relate. Started a new job last April, 12 hour shifts, aws style. So I only have every other weekend off. It's also a night shift, so my family time is limited, and so is my fishing time. Took me a while to get adjusted to the 12s and the aws. So from the time I started this job I went fishing maybe twice. It's hard to balance the need to go fishing, with the amount of daylight I have, plus the limited family time I get every week. I decided late last year that not fishing wasn't an option. So I've gone to bed asap after work so I can set an alarm to wake up a couple hours early to at least have a chance at fishing. Been twice so far this year and it's just now starting to warm up in my parts. I fully plan on my rod and backpack rideing shotgun with me 99% of the warm months. Not gonna miss a single chance to get some lures wet this year.

Confusing Results
This was my thought. Or at least they don't have very many and their skiddish

What have you learned this month?
I learned to fish a spinner bait. Not only got my first fish on it, got 4 in under 2 hours. Also that just because it's 40 degrees outside doesn't mean I can't fish. Had been waiting for warmer weather but I couldn't take it anymore and just went to get some lure wet and try some new stuff the bait monkey got me on. Ended up catching the first fish of 2018. Learned fb groups are gonna feed my bait monkey harder than this forum. Found out I'll have 12 days off in a row at the end of December so I'll likely be taking a trip to FL or TX to fish during that time.

Best advice for a new bass angler?
I've only been fishing for about a year or so maybe.but I'll share what helped me the most. Finding fish, look for cover. Don't just throw the lure out in the middle of nowhere and expect a bite. While It can happen its not increasing your odds of hooking up. Stumps, broken branches, patches of grass, etc. Anything a bass can push up against and sit there. The wind can push bait fish in a direction so pay attention to that. Also look for shade. The bass will like to sit right around the edge of it in the dog days of summer. Early morning and late evening are my best times to fish Go buy a 7$ bag of Yamamoto senkos. Don't buy the knock offs, the price difference may be appealing but the action of the worm cannot be replicated. I love bass pro but their worms are total trash imo. It's well worth the investment, this way you'll learn what a bite feels like, and what the line should look like when the bite hits. There's a thread with a video link on how to fish these. I prefer the Texas rigged style, wacky works well but I don't like getting caught up on stuff. Get a bait caster asap. Really stepped my game up. I have so much more control over my casts, if I throw it to far I can stop it easy. Most importantly don't give up. If took me over a month of fishing almost every day to land my first bass, he wasn't a pretty one but it was what I needed to start learning. Remeber I fan cast, the bass might not be right on cover, they can sit off a little and you want to make sure you completely fish an area so you're not missing out. After all this it's time to start getting hard baits. Worms are great but costly as they rip after, if you're lucky, 3 fish. And also top water is the most exciting way to catch bass imo. So that's somthing to look into once you start gearing up on tackle.

How many tries at a new pond before calling it quits
I'll fish somewhere at least 7 or 8 times and by then I've usually got ahold of somthing. Throw everything but the kitchen sink in there you'll eventually get a fish out of there. It's just finding what they want.

Advice Needed
I personally wouldn't bring that many rods. I'd limit myself down to 3 maybe 4 max. I don't want to flood someone elses boat with all my crap.

How many times pitching to spot
If I can see a stump I'll pitch 2-3 times just to make sure I hit both sides. Weeded areas I'll just pitch however many times feels right but even that's only 1-2 times before I move on

Top Water Fishing
I fish a little pond all the time by my house, mostly use worms because you always catch somthing with em. After about 2 weeks it started to seem like all the fish where small, then I threw some top waters and started pulling out bigger fish. It's like the big fish where only interested in top waters.

Lost Lure Memorial Thread
Lost a red eye shad a week ago, really liked that lure. Had a clear body and can't find another like it around me either. The wind pushed my cast into a tree and I tried to flip it out and ended up breaking the line and I heard it plop into the water

How to get lazy bass to bite in the summer?
Ned rig and wacky rig senkos. The hotter it gets the harder fishing it is. Early morning and late evening may help as well.

Top Water Fishing
I was the same way till today, got my first bass on a jig.threw it right by some Lilly pads. Bass hit it as soon as it hit the water. I couldn't believe it. But I 2nd the throwing top waters early morning and late evening. I like booyah pad crashers the best. Soft body toads are really good as well when the bass wanna chase. Just a little walking and they crash. Be sure to wait 2 seconds before you set the hook, let the bass get the bait all the way in his mouth first.

Bank fishing
The coves that I would like to fish are a 3 30-45 min walk around to either of the no matter what side I start on. It just seems like such a huge hassle to possibly get skunked if their in another part of the lake.
-
Bank fishing
IT takes nearly 2 hours to walk around the lake nearest to me. Which I don't mind fishing for 2 hours but talking for an hr to fish is pushing it for me.

Bank fishing
I just don't care for the lakes around me, I live in a country area and everyone and their mama fishes these lakes. The CO has specifically asked me, that if I hook a big bass that I take her out, it's eating their sunfish and bluegill population up. My response wasn't one he was expecting I guess, I told him to put more in and fatten up the rest of the bass. Because I was gonna throw it back in if I got it. So basically all the bass in the lake are small with a few very rare exceptions. I get bigger bass out of a pond.

They just won't bite...
I'd be willing to bet it's spawn time for em. I had that happen to me today. I could visually see the band probably 3 ft off shore and I threw the crank bait and took it right past his face, tried burning slow rolling it and all he did was give it a quick look and turned around. Didn't feel like putting on a worm or craw fatty to see if I could get him to strike. He wasn't very big either.

Bank fishing
I have several decent sized lakes around me, and a bunch of ponds I can fish. Being stuck on land makes me shy away from the lakes. They're just to big for me to walk around and fish thoroughly. Is it just me or does everyone else prefer a pond when bank fishing. Just a random thought I had today while bank fishing around some random ponds.

Using Maximum Drag Setting When Fishing
I've got 50 lb braid on right now and I can set it on full and won't break my line. But I typically leave is backed off just a bit. If I do happen to hook into a big one and I'm not risking him running under some lay down I don't have a problem with him running a little bit of drag. Like really, who doesn't like to hear a hog rippin off some drag

Tackle Prep for Chasing my PB

Tackle Prep for Chasing my PB
I 2nd this. My pb of 6.9 lbs was caught on a Senko. It's all about throwing what they want. I threw everything but the kitchen sink and finally hooked mine on a Senko of all things.
