  1. I have caught fish from 0 to 30 ft visibility on a black jig. Black, Green Pumpkin, and Brown are the main colors I use. Allen
  2. My 2 best were a SPRO BBZ and some Muskie crankbait. The SPRO I found at Black Hills thinking it was a dead fish. The Muskie crankbait I found wading the Potomac and thought it was a kids toy at first. Both of these baits run about $30 each and I gave both of them away since theyare not something I would use. Also caught a Walmart spinning combo one day that still had the price stickers on it. I gave it to some kids fishing down the river from me. Allen
  3. I make my own since I started pouring jigheads anyway. Anything from 1/8 to 1/4oz seems to work with a straight tail worm. The last 2 years I have been using Zoom Swamp Crawlers since they are soft and cost like $4 for a 25 pack. Allen
  4. The only thing I seem to be able to catch with them is grass and laydowns. Allen
  5. I make a 5/16oz jig similar to the Eakins jig and a Super Chunk Jr is the most often used trailer. Allen
  6. Use mono that is heavier or the easiest thing to do is just hold the rod tip higher. Allen
  7. Google image search Sisson crankbaits and these will show up. Allen
  8. I think they are Sisson baits as well. They use to sell them at BPS in Baltimore. Allen
  9. http://iz.carnegiemnh.org/crayfish/country_pages/species_by_state.htm Crayfish are different colors around the country. Look at the map above as it will show the species in your area. Allen
  10. I don't think that is aDirty Jigs bait, it looks like a Greenfish tackle bait. Allen
  11. I would suggest lighter wire hooks as the thicker hooks are tougher to set the hook on. Allen
  12. Use the Devcon like suggested and it will never come out. Devcon is what I use to put screw eyes in custom crankbaits and not one has came out in 10 years. Allen
  13. If you are comfortable with what you are using that's fine but there is much to learn. The days I have learned the most is when I caught few fish. Try going out with only the lure you want to learn. If you only have that one you will be forced to find a way to make it work instead of resorting to the stand byes. Allen
  14. For flipping/pitching jigs I use 3 basic types. Super Chunk = Cooler water or when they want less action. Chigger craw = Warmer water Double tail grubs = Football jigs in deep water. I try to keep it simple and 90 percent of my trailers are GP or black in color. Allen
  15. Tried wacky rigging a buzzbait but didn't catch anything. Allen
  16. Fishing skirts. com has a 3/16oz head that meets your requirements. Even though I make 100's of jigheads a year I still buy these. Light weight with a 1/16" weedguard that I pair with fine cut silicone tabs for the skirt. Allen

You can make a 2 piece mold out of silicone to pour baits. Make sure to get the type that has a high temperature rating though. I plan on making one this winter as a prototype before investing $500 on custom molds. Allen

I have been using this hook for several years with 3.8 fatimpact Keitechs and have no problems except small fish biting the tails off. Head design l am still not sure about? Currently I use the Do It grass jig which is what most others use. I watched a video by Bill Lowan and his opinion is a keeled head is better since it doesn't roll. I fish swim jigs in grass or open water on 12lb line so I guess I will give them a try. . Allen

This is a medium wire 5/0 Mustad hook that works better around here. The thicker Mustad 32886 requires heavier equipment and I have lost several nice fish from it. As for the keeper I went back and forth but decided on this one because the wire one tore the trailers up too much. Allen
  20. 3/4oz is what I use most of the time. Allen

Had Cast Industries make me a custom swim jig head based on a conversation and this is what they came up with. So what does everyone think about it as I am on the fence? Allen

Have you considered the Hilts Perfect Replica Mold? If I were trying to copy a bait for personal use it would be a option. Allen
  23. I have used a skirt collar put on after the trailer to keep it in place. Allen
  24. Wire keepers can be added to most DoIt molds. Allen
