  1. Some are worth it while others are not? Like someone mentioned for jerkbaits the way LC performs it is worth the cost. I can tell you that I own just about every expensive deep diving crank (Jackall, MB, LC, etc.) and none of them work half as good as a SK 5 series. Spend what you can afford and look for value not cost as it does not equate to fish catching ability. Allen

  3. Heddon Tiny Torpedo in chrome w/black back. Allen
  4. Try the baits you have and if they don't work then adjust? I have caught bass on a Rebel wee-r from 1989 to last year so I know they still work. The only crank I would suggest adding to your arsenal is a 1.5 bait. Lucky Craft and Strike King make them along with others but I would start with one of those two. The 1.5 is a squarebill crank that runs about 3-5 feet and is just a fish catching machine. For colors go with something that matches the local forage? Gizzard shad and Black back chartuese have been my main two colors in general with crayfish thrown in for river smallmouth. I will add that the Bandit cranks in 100-300 size are in my top 5 most productive crankbaits. Allen
  5. You are a lot better at tying than anything I have ever done and they look great. Having made a lot of spinnerbaits the only thing I would change is reversing those swivels on the underspins. The way you have the swivels it takes more force for them to spin. They are not wrong by any means but they just spin easier the other way. Allen
  6. I bake mine at 350 for 20 minutes but like the above posts times and ovens differ. White is the only color that gives me a problem to where I have to follow the instructions and put a thermometer in the oven. My oven is a $15 model from Ollie's discount store and the temps are off by at least 25 degrees so I just wing it. I have been powder painting jigs for almost a decade in this oven and have not had a problem with chipping and I fish a lot of jigs. Certain colors are a PITA and pearl white has been that way for me. Allen
  7. Every bass fisherman I know has had a Daredevil spoon at one time in their life. I tried but never caught anything on them? Only spoon that has worked for me is the Johnson Silver Minnow and it is a pickerel magnet. Allen
  8. Someone will start selling them again and either Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston or Rowland Martin will be pimping them to the masses. Allen
  9. This works really well with those segmented LC baits. Allen
  10. Do you have any 4" straight or paddle tailed Berkley worms you want to get rid of? Allen

  13. Agreed There was a custom painter out of Florida by that name as I have some of his baits. Allen

  16. Keitech 3.8" Fat Impact and PLINE Kick-R minnow in 4" are my current favorites. Allen
  17. I have been using a fluid bed from TJ's for like 10 years with good results. Allen
  18. $4000 is the low end for a Zorn mold. Allen
  19. Make sure snapping turtles are not destroying the pond as they will eat anything and everything they can find. Allen
  20. Post a pic of Dave's skirt and I guarantee someone on here can ng match it. Dave is buying his skirt material from the same places as the luremaking re sellers so I am sure we as a group can identify the skirt colors. Allen
  21. I found that they are light for their size and do not hold up very well to rocks on a bad cast. Shattered two of them hitting rocks trying to fish a shallow rocky section of the Potomac River. Allen
  22. River is 2.8 feet and murky at 58 degrees so tubes wouldn't be my first choice. Allen
  23. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/plug-parts/310311.aspx If you look at a unpainted bait many of them use these figure 8 links. Figure 8 links, screw eyes, and through wire are the three techniques that I am aware of for making crankbaits. Allen
  24. There is no way you can compete with Zoom for least cost. I am not trying to discourage you but just stating facts as I learned them through research. Zoom uses an industrial machine that can shoot like 3k baits an hour that is how they keep costs down. There are companies that can do this for you but you must order like 5k of the same bait in the same color. Additionally if you want a custom mold for one of these machines they are $4-6k. Custom lead molds are cheaper and will cost about $300- 400 per size for each size in spincast. Like I said earlier you need to find a niche market and build a loyal customer base. The attached swimjig head I had custom made and the master cost me $168 and if I want them to make a production mold it will be another $160. I plan on starting a lure business when I have enough free time and have set aside about $5000 to start just for reference. Allen

We are manly fishermen so we don't use "pink" lures we use "bubblegum" there is a difference. Allen
