  1. Yea could do. Works with tubes!
  2. Have you checked our decoy cups? Seems like if you want subsurface S-action they’d do about the same thing, for much cheaper. Really easy to make from regular suction cups actually.
  3. Sounds snakelike to me. Not that it really matters. 2 ppl now, have said it works... unsharp hooks are kinda a deal breaker for me tho. Might try making my own. Looks simple enough.
  4. Too late! Lol maybe good advice but if your a bass fisherman it’s pretty much forgone...your hooked. Dont get carried away like this threat kinda does, but I’d comment that finesse fishing is something everyone should have in their arsonal. I’d say 1-2 types of worm, a craw and a tube covers it well enough really
  5. What jelly worms? They’re one of the first worms ever made. Been around like 50 years. Interesting. Thx. The LFG one I saw before. Tempting but I had the same price concerns. You could just retrofit a jitterbug or by jitterbug blades and stick a hook through the eyelet for a cheaper alternative, I was thinking.
  6. Need is relative, but yes. Lol finesse plastics are cheap and work when power fishing might not be. Jelly worms are almost a secret these days, but they’ve been around forever. Still the best IMO Those culprits are great tho too. Fyi for all, try folding up a 12” jelly worm wrap with a rubber band and boil 15-20 sec and let cool. It retains the kinks and resembles/moves as a snake much convincingly.
  7. Like the spoon on a jitterbug? That’d be awesome!. Could you upload a pic of that hook? It “floats” only in that the tail stands up like a shakie head, but with just a nose hook/t-rig. It sinks like any other worm tho. Kinda dives and hops bottom really well.
  8. 2 just moved into my bass pond. They eat fish and slap water scarring fish away whenever I hit the water. Any nonlethal ways to run them off? I'm thinking about macing. I'd use fireworks but there not sold nearby. Id rather not shoot them, but I may have too. Thanks
  9. Beaver are ruining my pond! Seriously about to shoot them. The 2 just moved in and slap the water scarring fish anytime I get near the water. Their dam sucks, the spook fish...not good for ponds at all. lakes/rivers etc. sure. Not ponds. Same here they just showed up. Did they stick around and ruin the spot? Do otters tail slap also? Maybe these are otters.?
  10. Not just. All these frog can be weighted and swam or used as trailors. I thought he was joking. Lol Thanks y'all. Im leaning towards Stanley's or zman. Is the elastec too soft or does it give good water displacement
  11. Nope. Thats the original. It has a "hard nose". Lol
  12. The idea of cutting rage toads (or Ribbits) down to change the action seems like the best of both worlds... I'll keep that in mind. I have 50+ short shank double hooks already tho. Been running a 200 lb SS steel line through the middle of my kicker frogs (which btw I don't think are the best)
  13. So what's the verdict on bog? I've been checking out their snake baits.
  14. They actually sink pretty quickly, like 1ft/s or so because of the hard nose. They stand up off the bottom on thier own also.
  15. Maybe something to that. I use my drag well usually but not always. When there's heavy cover nearby you loss em in it.
  16. 8" is sweet-spot. out performs senkos for me. In black grape. Ive used 12" with not too much luck. Only hogs will go for it. Use only when I'm sick of catching small fish. Also 8" and up no weight required with the heavy nose, but a splitshot right at/above the hook eye helps with the action.
  17. Thanks for the input y'all. Shakey head w a cut tail and weightless jelly worm got it done ok. I thinks there an overabundance of smaller bass there. Same with centennial. Drop shot works from the bank about as well as Carolina rigs. Maybe a little better. I go their rarely tho. Last resort.
  18. Hypothetical scenario For anyone familiar w Elkhorn specifically: ...it's a mild (high 70s-80) sunny August afternoon (4-7 pm). Waters normal level maybe a little more stained than typically. You can only choose 2 lures...what 2 lures would you choose, what part(s) of the lake would you target? Then repeat same question, but changed to evening (7-9pm)? Thanks!!!
  19. Yeap. Also doesn't stick much after it gets soaked. It's when you get to the unused portions deeper inside the spool mostly.
  20. That neon/lime green is pretty awesome right!? Way more visible than yellow. Given the diameter do you think 15 lb 832 should be good enough to reduce/prevent the 'grabbing' effect? I'd rather stay as light as possible.
  21. That's solid endorsements y'all. Thanks! Ordered the 2500 today! Pretty happy with sufix and 15lb red seagar as lead. Same setup on all casters as well. I'll top it off with 25ft of mean green for some topwater and nighttime but less and less lately. For my money 832 casts smoother than power pro. N Strong as I'd really ever need in 10lb to be honest. Never felt a need for over 20lb braid even in the thickets etc. it's very abrasion res. for such thin line. probably will up it to 15lb 832 as suggested, for spinning reels at least. I used the old original red fireline like ten years ago. Indestructible stuff and casted great vs mono. Only issue was its way too stiff. How's the newer stuff?
  22. Cool! I'll get me a 2500! Amazon has it for $85. Im retrospect I think the Braid is cutting in and stick/pinching itself. I use 832 yellow or neon green in 10lb.
  23. I'll check it out. Thanks! Obvuously it's difficult to guess about reels haven't even hit the market but new lines featured at icast might change the game a bit pricewise, like tatulas did. The revo X has me very curious... @PatrickKnight looks like a great option. one of my beefs with the daiwa exceler is casting braided superline gets hampered/slowed by the spools lip. How's the BG for that?
  24. Hey guys, currently looking to get one of the new (coming soon) spinning reels in the $100 range in 2500 or 3000 size to match a medium 7' bass rod (g-rod game changer). I have a daiwa exceler Exe...like it a lot, don't "love" it. It's a little weak overall, drag only ok, size/weight great, smoothness ok, casts braid ok (not great) speed great. Overall for the price it's pretty d**n nice in my Opinion. So looking ahead at the new Icast lined up, I'm thinking either new Exceler LT Fuego LT (2500sh) or Revo X (3). Any thoughts? Other choices? Specific "must haves" include at least 34 ipt, weight under 9 lb, smooth(ish) drag at least 8lb, strong frame and durability out in the elements (dirty muddy, damp etc) Doesn't necessarily have to be one of the brand new coming this summer/fall reels, but I'm leaning that direction. Why not get the newest, right.. thanks!
