  1. I wasn't trying to be ungrateful in the above replies, I just want to clarify the situation in case anyone else can help. Thanks for trying guys.
  2. Again, the phone and the phone cable are fine and have been tested. Also, the modem works in every jack but the (tested and confirmed good) phone will not. The exterior test jack works fine so the problem is mione, not the carrier's.
  3. I am using a phone that I have tested and is good so that's not the problem. I have also tested the exterior test jack at the phone junction box and it works fine there so the problem is somewhere in my house. This means the phone company won't fix it without charging a fortune. Thanks.
  4. That is possible, but would the DSL still work if this were the case? I honestly don't know.
  5. Thanks, but nope. I am using an old desk phone to test that I have confirmed is good.
  6. Any telephone experts out there? Here's the story: Approx. 2-3 weeks ago phone started acting up. It would ring once on incoming and then terminate call. Sometimes once, sometimes twice but when person called me back, all was fine. Around Tues. or Wed. the phone went dead. I have no dial tone and when someone calls, it rings busy. Here's the kicker; I have DSL on the same line and it works fine! No issues with DSL whatsoever. Here's what I've checked so far: 1) Test jack on box outside works fine so it's obviously my problem 2) I unplugged all DSL filters and all phones and I'm still unable to get anything out of any jack with the working phone I used to check the test jack. 3) I unplug my perfectly fine DSL from the wall jack and plug in the working phone and I get NOTHING! When I plug back in the DSL, it works fine. HELP ME!!!!
  7. I have some cranks with the same "tumbling" problem on the cast. Sometimes if you allow a little extra time for the rod to load on the back cast, it will allow the internal weights to shift fully to the bait's tail and will solve the problem. I don't have any Minnow Raps so it may not work on them, but it's certainly worth a try. Good luck.
  8. I wasn't picking on you. I just know the guys I talk to tend to call anything even close to a keeper a 2 lber. It's like they never catch anything less than that :
  9. It's interesting you say this. I find that guys tend to exaggerate quite a bit in both. It's amazing how many "2lber's" people catch when they don't have a scale or choose not to use it. I'd say my average is closer to 1 1/4 pound when you figure all the 10-13 inchers I bring in for every keeper.
  10. I never seem to have this problem with my Shimano brakes. If I need to increase the brakes I press my thumb on the spool harder. If I need less brake I reduce the pressure on my thumb. It works every time It's similar to cars. Anti-lock brakes, traction control, etc. are great if you need them, but you wouldn't want them on a race car if you know how to handle it. Shimanos are race cars. Mag brakes reels are pedestrian. Simple. Alright, everybody commence bashing me!
  11. Nice deal. I've heard only good things about Shimano rods and I'm honestly not being a jerk. I just want your perspective on this. If, as you said: If you don't need the most sensitive rod for this application (i.e. soft plastics), what techniques you you find in need of the most sensitive rod? I find small plastics to entice the most subtle of all bites more often than not.
  12. Pathetic. I don't even know who you are anymore
  13. I shouldn't be much harder than fishing at full throttle in the rain and who hasn't done that? Finesse fishing might be a problem, but if you use reaction baits and maybe upsize a little, I think you'll do OK. Oh, and maybe wear a helmet and install seatbelts, too.
  14. I guess I was too hasty in encouraging you. I was looking at it as a throwaway rod. I would never had said what I did if you were asking about a high dollar rod. Since you can't afford another rod, however, I would also advise against it. Sorry.
  15. Worst case scenario is you get a broken rod. You'll probably be OK if you use a lob cast. Have you ever seen someone throw live big shiners? Do it like that. Bring the rod back slowly and sling it forward and release. DO NOT whip it!
  16. I am a big fan of the camo green color in the original hybrid, but the green color of the US is too visible IMO. I can see it very clearly and am more comfortable with the clear. If you're a line watcher, though, it lights up like a Christmas tree above the water.
  17. What kind of hook are you using? In the photo it looks like it is nearly straightened out and that fish isn't big enough for that much pull.

Well, it's gonna be tough because he talks funny and he always smells like fish Oh yeah, he also drives a big ugly brown truck.
  19. Man, that sucks that all your Storms were broken off by monster bass. You should buy some more. What? That was the reason you have zero, right?
  20. I always start with a lipless crank. If that doesn't work, any of the others mentioned can work at different times.
  21. I realize that. I was being a bit over dramatic. I think silent is the way to go especially when pitching to specific targets.
  22. I have an 844 GLX and I throw 1/4 jigs and weightless Senkos with it all the time.
  23. I'd be extremely upset if my dad bought me a brand new '07 vehicle and it had a stick. It would make me furious :
