  1. Good job! Congratulations. BTW, the pointed nose I suggested for vegetation is horrible for rocks. I guess you demonstrated that the hard way.
  2. Oops! I forgot to include this: ;D I was trying to be funny. I guess I failed.
  3. When that happens to my lakes, I generally look for areas that have some green vegetation left. They usually don't manage to kill everything. It may be deep so throw something that you can drag up some weeds with and look around until it comes up green.
  4. When I'm throwing treble hook baits, I average two per cast. I only usually mange one per cast when throwing single hooks. I throw mostly single hook lures, so I'll guess I catch approximately 1.3 bass per cast.........approximately
  5. I used to take my dog fishing, but I tired of having to keep only one rod at a time out of the box. He jumped around so much and got so excited when I caught a fish I knew it was just a matter of time before this happened to him.
  6. I think a stiffer rod is definitely a good idea, but I would also suggest that you use a jig designed for use in vegetation, i.e. one with a pointed nose that will slide through the weeds. 12 lb fluoro should be the perfect line for this, so you're doing that just right.
  7. I live in Linton, IN. Looks like I'm less than two hours north of you. Welcome aboard!
  8. Does anyone make a saltwater jig with a large, long shank hook? I couldn't find anything online, but maybe some of the bluewater guys on here know.
  9. I've never used the Advantage. My WM only has the Red Cast and the Red Lightning.
  10. If you have fish pinpointed on your graph and suspended off the bottom, it's tough to beat the drop shot and the jigging spoon.
  11. You might want to reconsider the grub trailer. I have found that any trailer with a swimming tail acts as a keel and diminishes the erratic swimming action of these type of baits. Split tail, straight tail, flukes work great. Grubs, frogs, boot tails, ribbon tails, etc. are not good.
  12. Make sure you get the Red Cast and not the Red Lightning. The Lightning is way too stiff for spinning gear.
  13. Not speaking for rw, but I never feel very comfortable retrieving baits that quickly with spinning gear. Casting gear offers more control when burning, IMO.
  14. Try this one: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90148_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2'> http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90148_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2 $49.94 38-951-490-07 * 4520GX 6.5 OZ LEFT/RIGHT-HAND RETRIEVE 5.2:1 21'' 4 LB/105 YDS MLT70ULS-2 2-PIECE 2-6 LB 1/16 - 1/4 OZ 7' UL
  15. One little trick I use is I order a bottle of Spike-it plastic dye with every order. It costs less than $5 which is less than 3 day express shipping. Because of federal shipping laws, it must be sent Fedex, so you'll get your order in 3-5 days instead of 10-12. At least you get something for your $5 this way.
  16. I couldn't find any specific combo to meet your needs, but I recommend a 7' UL graphite rod and a 750 or 1000 series spinning reel (capacity approximately 100 yds 4lb test). Use 4 lb test line and you should be all set. Good luck casting flies. I don't see that happening. I'd say you misunderstood someone or they are just messing with you.
  17. 2500 is plenty. Some people even go smaller.
  18. Does it have to be stickers? I have a magnetic calender I'll send.
  19. Gotta go with the MBR844C love. I use this for spinnerbaits, shallow cranks, jigs, plastics, small swimbaits basically anything 1/4 oz and above. Love it!
  20. I don't know why the fish aren't cooperating but it is not the Yo-Zuri. Also, it seems maybe you are asking a lot of your line. Really thin and low visibility line is great for open water fishing but when trying to horse large fish out of thick vegetation, not so much. So I guess that's not much help, huh?
  21. Glenn, I, for one, didn't realize that he was an advertiser. His username does not indicate that. I am truly sorry for the tone we have set in this thread. I think we could have conveyed the same information to Mr. Hoffström in a much more acceptable manner had we known he was an advertiser. Welcome aboard, Michael and thanks for your support.
  22. We do have some lakes around the state that have a slot limit. I wish they would impose that on some of the pits around here. I could really go for something like a 12-20" slot on a few selected "trophy lakes."
  23. The following is my opinion only. Sometimes the state agencies do not have the same goals as I/we do. Here in IN, I suspect that the LMB limits are set to ensure a large population of 1-2 lb bass for the casual angler. Many people eat bass around here when they reach the legal limit of 14". I am lucky enough to live within 10 miles of hundreds of strip pits from a few acres to a few hundred acres in size regulated by the state. In my experience, most of these pits are full of 10-13" bass because of the "one size fits all" size limit of 14".
