  1. DANG! I thought you'd joined the Shimano posse when I read the thread title. One step at a time, I guess.
  2. I've been wondering about the differences between the Mossyback and the IMX blanks. They are in the same price range, but Loomis claims the Mossyback graphite is unique.
  3. I know this board is in overall good shape. I've been talked down a few times by Glenn and the mods myself. I am also not immune to a spirited debate. I just get a little irritated when someone we don't even "know" gets uppity.
  4. Is it just me, or are there too many newbies around here intent on disrespecting senior members? In just the past week I can recall newbs insulting roadwarrior, Raul and Avid. I'm sure there have been more, but these come immediately to mind. I know when I started here 2+ years ago, I lurked for a while and then gently joined the fray and tried to develop a sense of belonging before I let my true colors show A lot of guys seem to have joined lately and came in with their guns a blazin'. Maybe it's no worse than it ever was, but it sure seems like it to me.
  5. The bait will turn over so the eyelet is facing downward when retrieved just like every other walking bait ever made. The only thing "unique" about this is that it is painted sideways. BTW, the usual policy here at BassResource.com is to delete spammers' posts. I think this approach is much more fun. Let us play with the guys a little bit first
  6. I almost always use Paca Chunks now. I have developed a lot of confidence in these over the past couple of months.
  7. Hey! That's what I was going to say.
  8. Thank you for making my point ever so much more eloquently than I could have ever hoped. Since you have self-administered the coup de grâce, I am finished.
  9. Come on down to my neck of the woods and you can take all you want. We have plenty and the ones that are left will make plenty more. Also, I only fish man-made lakes (mostly strip pits) so someone has to be stocking them. P.S. When questioning others' logic, don't bring a pen-knife to a gunfight
  10. Sorry. I guess I could have worded that a little more tactfully.
  11. Castaway was bought out by Shakespeare years ago and their rods are nothing but rebranded Ugly Sticks. It's a fact. I read it on the interwebs By the way, Avid doesn't "only fish Loomis". Where do you think he got his username?
  12. In this thread http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180665109, Burley basically calls me crazy for saying that Vanish is more prone to backlashes than a limper line. Does anyone else find that fluoro is more trouble than mono? Or am I just crazy? I think I know the answer, but I'd like to see everyone else's thoughts on it.
  13. That would be a great topwater rod. I have a 7'6" medium that I use for deep crankng.

    10" power worms
  15. Wow! Looks like I will defer to the masters. Nice pics.
  16. I accidentally catch them on crappie grubs quite a lot, but when I actually see them and try to catch them if I'm bored, I have had a lot of success on a lipless crank. Get something fast and loud in their face and they'll usually react.
  17. Now that you mention it, I have used 25 lb Big Game as well and found it to be better than average with regard to backlashes. I also have found that all the fluoro I throw tends to loosen up on the spool a lot and I frequently have to strip some off and tighten it to prevent problems. So what's up?
  18. ;D We used to have a Cocker Spaniel that would eat every butt he could find. If I heard a yelp I would remember that I flicked one in the yard and forgot to stomp it out ;D
  19. That must be a confidence thing or maybe the thicker line is altering the presentation of your bait. The blue fluorescence is simply an aid in line watching above the water and disappears under the surface. Stiffer=More backlashes
  20. I recently broke a Lamiglas XMG50 myself. The fish got away when the line went slack, but I'm sure it was bigger than yours. Congratulations.
  21. I'm pretty sure I'm a better fisherman for having joined this board, but I'm sure I have less money than I would have. Before I joined I was perfectly happy with Wallyworld rods and reels. So, thanks....I guess.
  22. They should put that on the package of every Shimano.
  23. IME the lure ratings are closer to the truth, but they are still pretty iffy. The power ratings are all over the map and in no way similar.
  24. I think it's a lot like music. Some people are born naturals and some aren't but everyone can improve with practice and knowledge.
