Oh man....winter is the best fishing for stripers here on the Delta and Forebay. I look forward to it every year. Really all depends on th rain we get, as it does get pretty cold - sometimes down into the teens, but thats nothing a pair of gloves wont cure.

Call me skeptical, but you never see the strike on those 2 fish. The film was edited after the strike...if it happened that way. Also, they're not fighting...at all when you pull them into the boat. Sorry, i just find it....fishy.

I have replaced bearings in practically all of my reels. You will definitely notice a difference. It is hard to say as to whether you will need to change the brake set up on your particular reel. That will also depend on you and your casting abilities. Is it worth it? Again, that is completely up to you. You are putting higher grade bearings on that reel and it will be noticeably better....As long a you are changing out the bearings, may as well upgrade to a carbontex drag too.

This may be a dumb question, but why would you stow the boat with the motor down? I would buy the same lenght shaft that you had before....but next time stow it in the up position, prior to putting the boat on the trailer. Happy Fishing.

Spiderwire is all I've used since power pro deemed itself useless. My quantum reels are still good too. You should get over your overpriced stuff and go for what works. In other words bottom of the totem pole is your opinion, not a fact. Unless you're a conformist. As far as spiderwire goes its some of the quietest braid you can get. Power pro will act like a band saw on your stuff, too much ribbing on it. Suffix is ok but my partner has a lot of casting issues with it. But then again some people swear by power pro. Bottom line, yes the grinding sound is normal, nothing you can do about it. Find what you like and learn it. They all have their weaknesses. I 2nd the sentiment on Spider Wire not being all that great. Maybe not the worst, but pretty close. Some of the quietest you can get? That sounds like an opinion to me.... The grinding sound is not normal with the higher grade lines. They are 8 strands woven together, where other lines are 6. The 8 strand lines are more uniform, causeing less of that grinding noise. You should check out the Samurai. I'm pretty confident you'll like it. Lots.

I developed the same pain after my first trip to Brazil. Even though I work out religiously,casting that 2 oz lure all day every day for 9 hours straight was a little tougher than I thought it would be. When I came home I eventually figured out it was tennis elbow. talking to a few friends I came up with a solution that 100% works and has all but eliminated that issue for me. My subsequent trips to Brazil I've been able to cast with no issues at all. This tennis elbow brace is amazing. I took this picture on my Brazil trip back in 2007 I believe. We were fishing the Rio *****, and I happened to set down my rod. I did that to put my camera away, and this little guy flutters over and lands on the Carrot Stick. I think he thought it was his cousin. ;D It's been the only orange butterfly I've seen in my travels to Brazil, and just so happened to land on this rod. I sent the picture to E21, not sure if they ever used it. Amazon sunrise. Amazon tree snake.

Las Vegas can be lots of fun. All depends on your budget. I've been to Las Vegas a time or two, lots of fun but boy oh boy....can it be expensive. Luxor is a good hotel. Its central to everything, and considering you probably wont spend lots of time in your room, a good start. Clubs, theres so many choices. If you're looking for bottle service, you will not have to wait in line. Problem is that you will usually have to buy more than one bottle. If theres a few of you, you're better off going to the front of the line, slipping the guy a $50 and he should/could let you in. I personally like Moon and Sky Bar. For dinner, there are literally thousands of choices. The best steak in Las Vegas in my opinion is at Ceasars Shops. Joe's Prime Steak and Seafood. Place is amazing. For shows, Check out any of the Cirque De Soleil shows. My personal favorites are KA or Mystere.

This has been my go-to combo for Super Flukes this striper season. The Calcutta has been upgraded with a carbontex drag and upgraded bearings. Spooled with Samurai Braid, it is an absolute gem to cast.
