  1. id need a chainsaw for some of mine I actually cringed when I saw that
  2. just wondering, did you even read the posts? most people snagged a branch or such...
  3. I've fished that pond for years and never had trouble with stunted fish. The bass took care of them just fine, now that pike are in there both bass and bluegill populations are down. 100% positive it was a pike I've fished that pond for years and never had trouble with stunted fish. The bass took care of the bluegill population just fine, now that pike are in there both bass and bluegill populations are down.
  4. I don't take pics either, BUT we are living in a generation where some people can't eat dinner without taking a picture and posting it somewhere, so I figured some people might have some good ones we could all cringe at. I see. sounds very..., professional ! not fun that's what I thought
  5. not just bass, it's any fish they catch
  6. which in turn leads to..., 1. backlash 2. backlash 3. backlash
  7. Fishing by casting a light jitterbug into the wind is a sure recipie for backlashes, unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the multiple backlashes I did get, share pictures of your bad ones, I know everyone has one
  8. I caught my first pike the other day on a size 0 mepps aglia spinner. good fighter, I harvested because they eat all the other fish in the pond. Bass and bluegill populations were way down in that pond. not sure how this little dude got in they pond anyway, probably the creek that leads in.
  9. when they get into a pond and eat all other fish, they are definitely pests. I had that happen in a great bass and bluegill pond. it's not their fault they have to eat but still sad to see a population of healthy bass and bluegills get decimated by a pike. (or 7) I caught my first pike on a mepps size 0! smaller works good too! so I've heard true
  10. I'm starting to learn what a pest pike can be. they're pretty stinky fish too
  11. bait, I've always had great luck for panfish and see no reason to change my setup. quite tasty... exactly right... always exciting to have a bull bluegill smash a top water Rapala when bass fishing. I'd like to take up fly fishing, it seems like a great sport to get into. the trick is to find lakes hardly visited OR fished, that way the people who keep all the panfish they catch can't wreck the population. I rarely keep fish from my spot.
  12. thanks, I put a smaller reel on and the problem is fixed! also it only did that when there was low tension on the line during the retrieve (casting a light lure)
  13. I have a 7' MF Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 that I just got, I am planning to put a 2500 size reel on but it hasn't arrived in the mail yet. So I stuck a (size 40) reel on it because I had one laying around and I was casting in the yard. it casts fine but there was lots of line slap on the retrieve. I've never had this issue on any other of my setups before so I'm wondering if the slap is because of the huge reel.
  14. wow, I suppose if you play a fish right you can get it in on that incredibly light line. yeah it's smooth and relatively inexpensive. I was at cabelas and looking at the Pflueger President and Daiwa Revros but then I picked up the RG-AB just to check it out and I instantly liked it better than the others.
  15. Dang!! is that used for bass or panfish or what
  16. Murphy? what does that have to do with anything lol, I read things about 10 lb braid getting stuck, I'm probably concerned about nothing... thank you (I didn't even know that they made 4 lb braid. That would cast far I bet... )
  17. I'm finally getting my first "good" bass setup, a 7" medium Veritas 2.0 spinning rod paired with a Daiwa Rg-ab 2500. I wanted to put 10 lb braid on it but since it is so thin, could the line get stuck in the roller?
  18. did pretty well last night. 13 eater sized fish. They're my favorite eating fish.
  19. Thanks, I know exactly where the springs are in my local lake. I will try that I realize how vague this post was. Its a shallow weedy bass lake with plenty of weeds and ambush points. I plan to fish from kayak or canoe. I had a 6' 6" medium Ugly Stik but I'm replacing it with a 7' medium veritas 2.0 for more sensitivity and it's also lighter. The lake is relatively shallow, probably no deeper than 15'. I know there are some huge pike in there so i will post pics if/when i get one. Thanks for the help!
