This lake will not beat me (again)!!!!!
Mine is right here where I live, canyon lake CA. Before I moved here I was afraid bass would be too easy to catch according to all myth about "SoCal bass heaven" and I would get tired of it too quick. I moved here a little more than a year and I can tell you i got skunked so many times or only 1 or two catch each trip. I mostly fish visual structures, I know it is not the best way but it the best I can do as of now. I like it though since I can fish whenever I want and still find it challenge enough. There are many spots that I can bank fish without getting tired of it. The best part is I get to try many new lures that I collected over the years and catch some fish on it. And this lake is loaded with 4-5 lbs bass.

Daiwa Tatula Casting Rod
It is pretty good for skipping anything 3/8 oz and heavier. It got enough back bone to horse the fish. It is pretty light weight and well balance compare to my crucial. I use this rod for all around when bank fishing. If I have to, I can cast 1/4 oz(pointer 68) up to 1oz (whopper plopper 110) no problem. It is really good rod for 100 bucks. Now the bad part, this rod seems to have softer tip compare to other MH (Fenwick Ateos 7'2). I broke the rod tip by casting a lure that snag to brushes behind me.

That a Hawg right there.

Curado K vs. Curado 70
This ^^^ different hand different feel. I'm small guy so I prefer smaller size reels. They both about the same system only K got micro module gear and more line capacity.

The latest sale thread
Good deal right there, too bad I ordered mine a few weeks back. At first I ordered Abaco bay but dont like it since all fabric feel slippery when palm reel so I ordered Ascension Bay with synthetic leather palm and very happy with. I might order one more for spare.

This just happened with me yesterday. Brand new 1/10 weedless Zman shroom jig head broke just becuz I tried to pull it out of a mess inside my backpack with other hooks. I didn't use a lot of force at all.

Huddleston 8" Trout Vs. Savage Gear Line-Thru Trout 8"
Agree with both comments above. I use savage gear only very shallow and as sub surface lure (slow sink).

Will Alum treatment hurt bass spawning circles?
You are so right about that Tom, we are responsible for this, all the water runoff from street will get down to the lake. I guess the management team care more about clarity of the lake for those water skiers and boat pleasures more than bass anglers. We are minority here I think less than 20% compare to those other boaters.

Will Alum treatment hurt bass spawning circles?
Went out on a boat today, water clarity is improved up to 8 feet visibility in some area. There were more bass in shallow than yesterday even see a few bass on bed already, but should still be in early stage since I saw both small male and possibilities 5 lbs female. Anyhow talked to one bank beater, he also saw 4-5 bass swimming around but no bite. I caught only one small on jerkbait.

How much you spending?
I don't know what I have spent so far, but I come to agreement with my wife that from now on I'll have 50 bucks to spend each month on fishing gears. If I don't spend this will accumulate to next month. Also this budget not include other stuffs like cloths hat and shoe. i hope I can keep in the budget.

Will Alum treatment hurt bass spawning circles?
May be it was not algae but for water clarity then. It was the 8th treatment of what I don't know? And we do get a lot of rain runoff last time. This's gonna be suck but I'm gonna start fishing it harder. The bass I saw today might as well in 4-5 lbs class and I didn't have any lure with me but a few Zman TRD.

Dropshot hooks
You gotta try them all to see what fit your bill. The size of hook depends on size of your plastic, but I found #1 is a good start. Spin shot is good you don't have to worry about dropshot knot but add just one annoying step that you have to cut your line first to make tag end. Spin shot hook come with both mosquito hook and EWG(Texas rig) style Mosquito hook, most used but in shallow around weed/wood might get a lot of snag. There are some weedless type(slipshot hook) but I don't like it at all. EWG hook, is also good for weedless and a lot less snag. I used this type of hook a lot (got 25 packs of #2 gamakatsu). The action of this type hook might not be as good as mosquito hook. I also use Roboworm rebarb hook#1 for weedless and only for Elaztech plastic type.

Will Alum treatment hurt bass spawning circles?
My home Lake started alum treatment for algae since Feb 12 (3 days period). I went out today the water is a lot clearer than before 4-5 feet visibility. First time in months I saw a few good size bass cruising along the shallow.

Kayak or Jon boat
Go for a change. On kayak you will learn how to become minimalist, you also get to exercise more and you might be able to fish where you never fish before. That also remind me to take kayak out more often, ever since I got my Jon boat fix I hardly ever take my kayak out. My wife started to complain that I wasted money again.

Launch with a truck bed cap
I have seen this with my own eyes. A guy back up his truck and slam on brake, the boat then launch into water. I almost yelled at the guy until I saw that trolling motor arm came up and deployed. It was so d**n cool.

Finesse setup?
OP, any baitcaster should be able to handle your choices of lure you listed, but if you plan to use the same setup for panfish then you are looking into headaches. For your suitation of 1 rod 1 reel, ML spinning setup should work better.

Graphite or "Plastic" haters
I'm not a plastic hater but try to avoid any reels with plastic body frame and reel foot. I don't mind plastic parts on my reel like worm gear or any unloaded gears. do I ever have one break? NO but why take unnecessary risk.

Alright kayak guys, time for an upgrade - Life Jackets
What a bummer, which color you ordered anyway? I like very bright color when I'm on kayak so other boater can see me from far away. I plan to add orange flag this year too.

Cool Fishing t-shirts
Look here https://www.bassresource.com/fishing-apparel/ you can create your own Jersey and also support BR at the same time.

Suspending jerkbaits
This^^^^^, but I use thin wire wrap around front hook if slow rise or add a clip/snap. The slow rise is good when you fish shallow, you can pause a while and don't worry about snagging. Husky Jerk 08 trends to slow rise. to test it you have to know what temp of water you are going to fish your jerkbait most of the time. The changing in either slow rise/sink won't suddenly change in 5-10 degree different.

Stay with one brand of reels?
I got both brands a few Shimanos and a few daiwas. They all serve different purposes. Some type of lures the magnetic brake system better than centrifugal system. For Shimano I like the compact size the most 50 and 70 size reel. For daiwa the best budget for lure 1/8oz or less cant beat SV105.

Weedless Ned Rig
I just ordered this one to try out. I plan to switch the hook to #1 Roboworm rebarb hook to make it weedless. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-NEDRIGJH.html?from=basres
