  1. Welcome to BR
  2. If I have to choose one? Soft plastic jerkbait. Please don't ask me to choose just one brand as of now I have more than 10 differences in rotation all size and color.
  3. @WRBwould you think FLMB would survive in Canyon Lake? I'm serious joining bass club here this year and I know they do stock new bass to the lake from time to time. So far I've heard the biggest bass being caught here is around 12lb. If I can get FLMB into the lake, wow possibilities of bigger and easier DD bass.
  4. Well said "grass always greener on the other side" i don't keep track of how many I caught but might possibly well over 100 with more than 20 bass over 4 lbs. The thing is I don't have stable lures just yet, I'll try everything I had or buy new lures. I caught plenty of bass with lures that I never caught bass before. I don't fish like you guys all day all night, my goal is to catch bass sometimes just 1-2 and I'm happy ready to come home spend time with my lovely wife and the dogs.
  5. I don't know, but make me wanna move there now, too bad I can't afford to live in OC.
  6. How can one tell differences between FLM VS NLM VS F1hybrid?
  7. Welcome to BR
  8. Welcome another SoCal to BR, where are you located in SoCal. We might get together sometime and go hunt them bass.
  9. Welcome to BR, happy new year, happy new members.
  10. My 2 Thumbs up to you man ??. The coldest that I ever goes out fishing was 37 and it was a brutal to me.
  11. I plan to finish my honey do list by the time bass start moving in. Mostly only plant a few fruit trees, cherries persimmon and jujube, 11 hybrid tree roses, set up new drip line for all tree, build some type of gate to block my dogs from jumping down the street and build a firewood rack. And now this happen influenza type A since Sunday.
  12. Mike, what is your turn around time? Im thinking of dropping mine off at Shimano but not sure if shimano do the deep cleaning like flush the bearing and all. I had them do my Calcutta and curado D before but that was long time ago. I had one 50e that need some cleaning but if I have to send to Mike might as well send all 3 at once to save some shipping.
  13. I wear real Boonie hat got as a gift from base. Those are nice and soft and would last a long time. The protection might not be as good as adventure hat but way better looking walking around with it. I lost this fav one last year at lake henshaw waited almost a year before I can find someone to order another one for me.
  14. Consider this is gonna be 2nd year on Canyon Lake. I'll try to learn more on main lake (went out only 4-5 times) and fish with other lures like jig, lipless and crank bait. I already plan to call sick on some Saturday since the tournament here always hold on Saturday (6 times a year).
  15. Nice Bass ~ Congrats J-James (lol)
  16. I think he wants to take 4 pin off to add on another spare spool that he got with no brake pin. I would say why not if you know you are not gonna need to change your brake setup on that reel. I got quite a few of shimano reel with old style 6 brake pin and all those got 2 on 4 off and never ever change. I also used to have Abu 6500c3 with 2 brake pins completely removed and had no problems with balancing whatsoever.
  17. I'm right handed and use right hand baitcaster but I reel my spinning left hand. I tried left handed bait caster awhile ago and have no problem setting hook or fighting fish. In fact I just ordered another curado 71HG left handed one where I'm gonna be using a lot for pitching and walking topwater next year.
  18. Tom knows how to be funny, that is surprised me.
  19. Lol @BASS302 you got me. I promise no more black out my face next year but gonna be more serious fishing. I plan to catch even more and bigger fish than this year. I might have to join bass club and get into tournament as back seater so I can learn the lake even more next year.
  20. you should have no problem casting any 5" fluke with your black max, the real question is your rod. M power with soft tip would get you a pretty good distance. 5" Fluke should weight close to 3/8, think Senko. I think the heaviest of all Fluke is Yamamoto D-shad, but I would start with Zoom super Fluke in white/pearl since it available everywhere.
  21. Each length rod would serve their own purpose and work best in some situations but not others. I'd rather have more rods than reels so I can pick the rod that work best. I don't limit the rod length that suit me but rather on what type of fishing I would mainly do with said rod. My all purpose rods would be 6'10 but I use 6' all the way to 7'9 depend on what type of techniques.
  22. Happy holidays to you and to all.
  23. Beautiful white Christmas. Hopefully you get a new fishing gears. I only got 25 BPS gift card this year.
  24. My wife and kids requested catfish for dinner tonight. I setup drifting for catfish with bacon, within 30 mins after located a good spot, I got one pretty good size (~7lbs). "HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE" and happy holidays to y'all. Added*** I forgot I also caught a bass with my bare hand but that will be in bass section. Lol
