  1. Thanks all, the surface temp here drop pretty fast. Today drop to 74 but still not a lot of activities. Manage to catch 3 on WP110 and a handful of dinks on D-shad.
  2. Are you gonna do surf fishing or just simple one from pier or jetties? Surf fishing you can fish anywhere around the beach, Huntington Beach is pretty good for that. Get there early you will see some guy surf fishing there most of the time. Otherwise you can go to all the piers nearby from Newport all the way to seal beach. I used to fish jetty in seal beach from 2nd street to bay shore to E ocean blvd(look for Alamitos Park). There are pay parking at the end and you can fish either on jetty or surf fishing on the beach . Fish to target Halibut, Perch and sea bass if you are lucky. Another spot is at the end of Long Beach dock past queen marry(I don't quite remember how to get there maybe Pier J). There are a lot of big mackerel there and some Perch. I wish I can help you more but it's been more than 10 years since I moved out from Los Alamitos.
  3. Nah just a bad luck I guess and my skill is not there yet, beside I de-barb those treble hook recently.
  4. Congrat it was so exciting wasn't it? I don't wanna say I love topwater but sure do love to see blow up on top water. I don't fish top water very often just when I start my trip early or I see some top water activities. This past two weeks I lost around 4 fish all come undone with first head shake 2 on R2S bubble walker and 2 on WP110?.
  5. Normally 3 short days a week but if weather is right I can stretch to 5 days but those are in 2-4 hours trip. I just started seriously bass fishing last year when I met my fishing buddy and I works 6 days a week so the most we do was 1 day 10 hours.
  6. Don't give up soft jerkbait. I seriously doubt that hard to find thing that soft jerkbait not capable of. Only a few thing that I think hard jerkbait got avantage over soft jerkbait is true suspended at the depth they designed to. Secondly is rattling sound of hard jerkbait. Try slow lite twisted with the rod tip down if you want them to suspend, lift the rod tip to 90 degree twist to the side if you want it to dance just below surface. Lift rod tip up and pop just like Senko when you fish it on bottom or top water action. Below is my Fluke where I add small weight and rattle using shrink tube. This can be done with twist lock hook and I can move weight to almost the end to achieve that action of gliding down. You should at least give Yamamoto d-shad a try before call it quit.
  7. I just lost two fish today on my WP110 de-barb all hooks after the fish jump. I'm gonna have to sharpen my technique more on that. I will continue to de-barb all trebles hook and only hook used for Fluke.
  8. Just came back water temp in my lake still @ 78 degrees, don't see any active feeding bass. I tried jerkbait, Fluke, chatterbait and WP119. Got 2 bites on WP110 but both came undone within 5-10 seconds.
  9. What water temperature when you start seeing active bass for fall season?
  10. How deep are you trying to fish and how fast you jerk? I would use M/F with pretty soft tip for Fluke. Also try Yamamoto d-shad which it would stay down deeper than Fluke but not last as long.
  11. On iPhone you can resize your photo with an app (resize image), most are free(I normally resize to 1mp to start with). Or you can link image you posted in your Facebook here as well, just save the link and paste here. Same as video on you tube just copy and pasted. if you wanna post with old attachments from you old post, just use Insert Other media there you can add as many pictures as you'd like.
  12. Last time I gutted hook fish, take me not longer than 5 mins to remove the hook, in the between I dipped the fish back in water a few time. I saw no blood and the fish swam off just fine. I continued to fish the same cove for another 30 mins or so and heard some splash close to shore line. I went in and sure enough it was the same bass laying sideways.
  13. Same as other who start baitcaster in early year. I am right handed so reel right hand on baitcaster and reel left on spinning. I can use left hand baitcaster no problem but prefer not, actually I sold my left hand reel just recently.
  14. That is pretty bad, let us know what Zman has to say about. I started buying some other brand for chatterbait. I still like Zman chatterbait better but will only get elite or custom from TW not original one.
  15. Is really UPF clothing UV proof, how about other sport clothings that never claim UPF rate? I'm kind of cheap guy, I use Hanes cool dri long sleeve shirt, cheap and you can buy anywhere.
  16. If I don't have Zman, I would use Zoom Magnum trick worm cut to about 3", but that is not gonna happen soon since I still have plenty of Zman plastic.
  17. Are you saying the hooks broke because you leaved Z-man plastic on the hooks or z-man brand hooks? I broke 1/16oz mushroom jig once but that becuz I pulled out from snag. I also lost jig head on Zman chatterbait but not the blade where my line tied on when practice skipping. now if you leave Zman plastic on the hooks if it is TRD or zinkerz those got salt in it and might rusted the hook. I found some rusted on original Zman chatterbait hook just store in it Plano box.
  18. Just like Ktho mention you might have to go out of your way a little. I use to lived in seal beach area not far from Eldorado park. I normally hit Cerritos park and Hungtington Park but bass fishing alway tough there as well. I sometime have to drive all the way to pudding stone lake to fish. You could also try Yorba regional park on 91 Fwy.
  19. I saw that house blue roof like Chinese style? I love walking around look at those houses.
  20. Shimano compre is pretty good rod but quite a few ppl don't like it. If its IM9 green bank which is the same bank as crucial. I have both compre 6'10 worm jig M/F 1/8-1/4 and crucial 6'10 dropshot M/F 1/4-3/8?, those are my fav rods, sensitive is good with some nice backbone.
  21. I'll tell whoever ask what I use and where I fish. My is private lake so it might be a little different.
  22. I think you put it in wrong order. It should say " Spinning to compliment baitcaster" ? Since you have ML and prefer soft plastic, I would get M/F casting rod. Lightning rod is good and cheap, also check fenwick website they have HMG on sale lately. I would spend money on quality reel like daiwa tatula or shimano curado I.
