Fishing Kayak
Congrat, so you are my big brother now haha. Post pic and set up once you get settle in. I've heard the pro 120 is more stable and you can stand and fish easier than 100.

Favorite Goby Bait
Thank so for hurting my wallet again bull.? This is good looking plastic and what I've been looking for. I can use this for drop shot or same with Glenn on 3/0 EWG Texas style rig. This is what and that why Fat Ika works so well in this lake.

Best Skipping Bait
As a lot of ppl mentioned, Senko, Fat Ika and, Fluke and Frog would be easiest to skip and the best lure to learn how to skip. After you have more confidence then you can try swim jig or any jig with trailer and also chatterbait type lure. With plastic I skip using medium set up, with jig/chatterbait 3/8 oz and up, I'd use MH setup.

Curado 200K
I think I watched the same video last night. I believe he was using the same rod (uglystick) lite for all three reels. About backlash on 200 K, I believe this can happens to anyone when handling new reel plus new fresh line spooled. He also mentioned in captioning that he was doing free spool test before casting test. i can also confirm that I get further distance on my Curado 70 compare to daiwa SV105 and 50e. The only real complaint I have with curado 70 is I have to adjust dial and adjust my cast when change from heavy to light weight lure.

Menards, Home Depot, or Lowes?
I shop both lowes and Home Depot no menards here. I found that Home Depot got a lot more items and varieties than lowes even though you have to shop online and have them ship to store. My wife loves lowes because it is cleaner and seem to have less ppl. I don't care as long as I get item I want at the cheapest.

I only member of this bass fishing site, that should tell you something haha. Actually not, I'm also member of the other local SoCal site but do not post much since they do not like to hear from ppl from private pond/lake. I do give a few ppl there a pass to come fish here though.

Slump
I do agree with all those that said sunfish bite or even small size bass with short bite. I'd been getting quite a bit of short bite lately, you might try to down size your plastic to see what is biting.

It is actually not that bad in calm water. I share this lake with all the skiers no 5mph zone, so it kind of tough when they come out to play. I only stay near bank and cove. I think next time I will either take my kayak or boat out where houses and docks 5mph zone lake. The WP 110 is actually pretty good I might get another one in loon color.

Help Plan My Attack!!!
If you can start earlier then you have more time to fish top water. I'm the same boat as you too many lures too little time since most trips I would stay in water 2-3 hours. I alway brought a whole bunch of lures but end up using only a few since time is limited. If I were you I would fish top water for first hour. whatever you have confidence on. Whopper Plopper is good, Spook is also produce especially in calm flat shallow. Then switch to Senko or Fluke for deeper when sun come up. Another option is to switch to chatterbait where you can fish on top of grass and along the bottom.

Fishing Kayak
I have perception pescador pro 100 not 120. I like it so far. It is stable enough and stadium style seat is comfortable enough to let me sit long hour. I can move around when sitting (lowestest setting) and don't feel any fear of flip over. On the other hand on higher seat set up (very comfort while fishing) I flipped once trying to move or grabbed something in tank well. My pro 100, I can stand a little for stretching or cast a line out, but fight with fish while standing i don't think so. The bad part, the two rod holder on pescador which are molded in, are really useless, they are too shallow and two wide. The battery compartment which is nice but water can get in if you flip the boat. The in-haul storage open wide inside you can fit a few rods in there but to me is useless, I wish they include dry bag where I can store car key and my phone instead.

Double fluke rig looks amazing in the water and I don't think I set the hook hard enough on plastics
I tried it once or twice and caught a few fish. I think both time not from swimming but let it sink all the way to bottom and pop it.

Fixing guide insert, glue?
Ceramic insert in my rod guide pop out. I tried to put it back in with little bit of superglue but it doesn't hold enough(pop out again while fishing today)? Any idea what to use to hold it in, or do I have to replace the whole guide? This is the tip guide and I still have ceramic ring. thanks guy

Your way is good to keep thing on for sure. For me, normally I rig Fluke weedless style but if I wanna do banjo style then I will screw twist lock all the way into Fluke as much as I can and use circle hook instead hook into Fluke nose through twstlock. BTW, you can order those twistlock from eBay by 100 just for a few bucks.- 37 replies

- Motor for Jon boat?
Nothing unusual?, done that a few time on DVL And skinner lake, plenty of time in Lake Perris and Henshaw. Only lake I wouldn't dare to go is Silverwood Lake.- Motor for Jon boat?
I got 1436 dress up jonboat with 35 lbs trolling motor and 15hp OB. do I really need OB engine maybe or maybe not. It helps to move from spot to spot quicker in big lake / reservoir like Lake Perris or DVL lake, but in my home lake which is not that wide I hardly ever need OB engine, many time now I fish only with TM, only use OB when launch/load. I can run my TM for 6-7 hours streght and use only 60-70% battery. My TM has 4-5 speed and at the highest speed is fast enough for me to move to next spot. OB engine is good but now it develops some cracks around joint at stern from stress when running engine and when towing on bumpy road. Those d**n engine is pretty heavy, I think mine is more than 100 lbs and imagine all that can do with your aluminum Jon boat. For your small lake, I would think transom mount trolling motor maybe 45lbs of thrust or higher might be better suit.- Plopper 110
Two things the splash from WP do, scare the fish away or call the fish to come and check it out. I felt the same way like you when first using 130 and 110 but many times now I got hit on 110 after a few second of retrieving. After the lure hit water I will wait awhile maybe 5-10 seconds and start SLOW retrieving. Another way to help reduce noise and a lot easier on 110 than 130 is to side cast to target. After playing with 110 for awhile last time I use 90 size it seems to be too quiet to call any bass.- Size Jig head for Ned Rig?
I use 1/15 for TRD and half zinkerz, 1/10 on anything about 4" like Big TRD, Hula Stick and paddler Shad . I just order 3/32 oz shroom jig head from siebert and will try that for everything instead.- Fishing the heat
90 still nothing compare to here where 100 is norm and quite often go above 110. i start my day as early as possible to get some top water bite then switch to chatterbait or Fluke if nothing bite and if I'm not so stubborn I will switch to finesse bottom contact. For instant, 2 days ago dropshot save my day becuz I started abit too late and the bite was completely shutdown.- Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
Yup caught one of the 4lbs bullhead catfish on whopper plopper, gave me excitement of getting a big bass for a minute.- Hula Poppers and Jitterbugs
Anyhow, I found to use loop knot with jitterbug give a better side to side action better yet use a snap no swivel with this lure. - Improved Zoom Super Fluke Rigging with Owner Twistlock CPS and Heat Shrink - instructions w/ pics
